  • such an amazing achievement, and a bloody amazing movie! i was surprised by how much i laughed

  • It's kind of weird: computer animation is getting more popular but a the same time, there've been more stop-motion features made in the past 20 years than you would expect. But still, I love the process :)

  • Now that I know it's stop motion, I really want to see it!!!

  • I loved the book as a kid. I think i will love the movie as well :D

  • This movie was alright.

  • when is this going out?

  • i'm just speechless, 24 pictures per sec... my god!!!

  • Oh my gosh! This was one of my most loved movie that I have watched (since I was little) I want to own all of those props!!! They are so teeny and cute!!!

  • is it me..or does anyone else burst out laughing at the diving into the pool part in the movie..they show a little bit of it in the video ( 0:16 - 0:20 ) ....But still the way the boy dives into the pool is funny :p

  • What the cuss? LOL LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!

  • @prammaven

Yep it's the same technique developed by George Pal, he called them, 'Puppetoons' so 'puppet' is fine in this case.

  • that is what stop-motion is all about. patience and time. (the rest is just skill)

  • This movie has a bizarre charm to it. Right once it was over I wanted to watch it again.

  • This is one of those movies that's gotten so far into my brain I can sit and watch it from beginning to end or just watch five minutes at any given moment.

  • I havnt seen this but i want to im a little bit of an animation buff and i absolutlely love how they animatied this and how the did the voicing

I mean with most animation being computer genrated to some degree its nice to see people out there doing older styles

  • I laugh when people say "the animation was shit" because they have obviously no idea the ammount of work that went into making this movie.

  • @GreenFizzTV

no i laugh because nobody realizes that the creators INTENDED it to look poor. Not to mention, people think it's stupid, random, and cheesy, which is also what the creators wanted. That makes it one of the best animated movies ever!!

  • such a great movie :D <3

  • Excellent movie! The most entertaining and unique family movie I've seen in years. The best outside of Pixar's realm that I've seen since the classic Disney days. I think We Anderson found his calling and I hope he does more like this.

  • i liked this film- i liked the book as a child- this film is off though- love kylie

  • This film SO deserved the Oscar over Up.

  • Whether it's this or Selick, they can't do stop motion in Hollywood anymore, it moves too quickly and therefore loses the typical jerkiness that defines the artform. If it doesn't look it (like the real thing) why do it, why bother, might as well go CG.

  • *whistle whistle click click*

  • best movie in the cussing world!

  • Kylie PWNS

  • Just watched this movie today it was HILARIOUS more of an adult film though. I laughed the entire time if you haven't seen it you SHOULD.

  • AGREED laughed through the whole thing!

  • @Japaneseninjacat D-: I loved this.

  • Thanks for posting this!

  • @Japaneseninjacat Which is why it was one of the top 10 best reviewed films of the year by critics. Yeah, we'll listen to you over them because you OBVIOUSLY know something they don't.

  • this was my favorite film of 09 and maybe of all time

"You wrote a bad song Petey!"

why this is considered a childs film, ill never know. This isn't Pixar (although Pixar is amazing) it's Wes Anderson, the master of Dark Comedies. Its far too complicated for a 7 year old to follow or laugh at.

  • @slipperywhenwet5 Which is why I love it so much. It's an adult film that's...disguised as a children-family film. lol

  • @thereefshark that movie is a spy

  • @slipperywhenwet5

it is considered a childs film because Roald Dahl wrote the novel for children and was the master of dark humour in clidren books....that is why it worked so perfect having Wes as directer and the detail they changed with the animals friendship and the ending just made the classic story better

this is my fav Roald Dahl book to film and maybe my fav film of all time

  • true. but still. just cuz its based of a kids book, doesnt mean its a kids movie. Hell, wes had to censro what would probably have been swears if it had a pg-13 rating. (cuss) and like mark said, his kids didnt get practically any of the jokes that he laughed his cuss off at.

  • @slipperywhenwet5

I just watched it, I was SHOCKED by how good and clever it was!!

There were too many jokes my kids missed that I caught every time. Children's film?! Not likely imao. But very entertaining!

  • 0:47 I saw this and why did Mr Fox say that (the part about keeping his tail tucked in)

  • @iMac1787 He was giving Ash a pointer on his dive.

  • @iMac1787

He was giving his son advice on how to properly do a dive-jump. If the kid had kept his [tail] tucked, he would have probably accomplished a nicer landing.

  • Comment removed

  • this movie was totally funny and awesome

  • what is the song that starts at 0:21?

  • basically that song is in the Soundtrack :P

    Other known as 'Kristophersons Theme'

  • Wes Anderson is the man! Loved this movie.

  • Wes Andersan is the man!

  • this was such a great movie. I love Wes Anderson.

I watched it free @ QuickMovieHub . com

  • Oh my lord, I LOVE Jason Schwartzman's voice.

  • Amazing Movie

  • The movie actually used a speed of 12 frames per second so people would notice it being stop motion - imdb

  • by that i think they mean doubles, it's shot on 2's, which means every time you move the puppet you take 2 frames (photos), so that's a 12 poses a second but the frame rate is still 24 frames a second cause each pose is photographed twice. most stop frame films are on singles, 1 movement 1 photo, so 24 poses a second, played a 24 frames a second. (that's what the animators on the film said they were shooting at.)

  • I SO love and adore this film! Can't wait for dvd and the extras!

  • The stop-action animation was great.

  • This was one of my favorite movies ever saw it last night I give it 5 stars. Watch it if you haven't already

  • WTC?! 30 secs per day of filming!??!

P.S. WTC = What the Cuss

  • I'm going to start using that, lol.

  • This movie was cussing awesome.

  • I loved that gimmick. A cussing good movie.

  • @castostarlight cuss yeah! XD

  • 1:31 lol the characters dancing on the lower left

  • I hope the DVD comes with an EXTENSIVE making of section... *hopes prays*

"The Making of Fantastic Mr. Fox" is available as a book on line.

Really awesome book, but I wish more was available on the making of the puppets themselves. In particular the process of the sculpture, casting and fitting of the skin to the armatures. How the fur was put into the skins etc.

Anyway I'm tickled that at least there IS a book, and it shows a lot of neat stuff on how the movie was made.

  • I really want to see it.

  • I am going to see this again. I swear.

  • I love ash's voice.

  • SO MUCH CUSSIN' WORK. lol

  • loved this movie. you HAVE to see it!!

  • I just saw the movie. Two words: Epic Win!

  • this movis was fantastic! it made me laugh so much

  • I didn't want to see this movie. I reluctantly went to it with my sister, and I'm so glad I did. It was really clever and funny. Go see it.

  • Truly a wonderful movie.

  • I love that the movie was almost completely natural animation.

  • Yiff yiff.

  • lol

  • This is one of the cases where I went to a movie and the word "magical" is the only real world that could be applied. An instant smile was plastered across my face upon exiting the theater. Probably one of my favorite movies I've seen yet this fall, possibly year and I recommend you see it. It's amazing.

  • in the book the fox has 4 kids not 1

  • @SuperMrCRAZYMAN In the movie, they have to animate a LOT of miniatures. Most of them manually. Give them a freaking break. That's a lot of animation, sir.

  • A must see movie at last! I wanno go see it so badly. XD

  • most awesome making of ever :)

  • Awesome.

  • Why'd everyone give reilly500 the thumbs down? It was a fair enough opinion, it's not like they were being rude or horrible about it. People should be allowed to express an opinion without the people who disagree labelling it a 'poor comment'.

Anyway I personally loved this film, and thought the visuals were beautiful :)

  • Thank you.

Okay, so I don't share your opinions, is that a reason to bash mine? No. All I said was I found the fact the humans looked realistic clashed with everything else, not I hate this movie. Did I downrate anyone for thinking otherwise? No.

  • This only problem I have with this movie is the fact the humans look too realistic in contrast to everything else.

  • wow, seems like your the most reliable source of information it seems..

  • oh yes I'm also being sarcastic :|

  • Owen Wilson And Jason Schwartzman in another movie.

  • Yess another Roald Dahl books coming to life. :D Awesome.

  • well the fact that you don't know how to spell "whistling" or "clicking" pisses ME off!!!

  • Learn to write.

  • wtf? I come here to watch a fantastic mr. fox featurette, expect nothing bad, scroll down to the comments section and read about rape and child abuse? what's wrong here?? XD

  • nothings wrong, you will see that in the comment section of about... i'd say 75% of youtube videos.

  • That's youtube for ya'.

  • this looks awsome. i love the rough stlye like he says "home made" reminds me very much of my childhood.

  • that comment made me laugh an incredible amount. thankyou :D

and can't wait to see this film! :D

  • this looks so good!

    i am definitely seeing this

  • Cant wait ta watch the film. I'm very eager and very curious.

  • i am too.

  • same here.

  • fuck off once again. get a life if this is all you can do with your day. how about you just stop, cause everybody here is a wes anderson fan, yes, roman polanski is fucked up but what does signing a petition have anything to do with his films? nobody likes you

    centerofreason = tryingtobecenterofattention

  • haha, I do not live my life to be liked.

  • you mean to be a prick. why cant u just let people live? you have no connection with wes anderson, whatsoever, why are you jabbing him?

  • Being a "prick" is also not my intention. My intention is to suggest that people that disagree with Wes Andersons support of polanski can make a small statement by not supporting this movie. I am sure if you had a friend, family member, lover or spouse that was abused.. you wouldn't like someone supporting their abuser. This is all I am saying. Again.. go see the movie if you don't care.

  • for your information i have several friends that have been abused, but people are complex. the fact that wes anderson signed a petition does not mean he "supports sexual abuse." only a dumbass would think that and its ignorant to do so. who knows if polanski is even actually guilty he probably is, yes, but once again, what the fuck does that have to do with wes anderson?

  • I guess each of us has their own take on that. I see a man who signed a petition to free a child rapist who struck a sweet plea deal.. then left the county before sentencing and ducked extradition for years. I see that as supporting the abuser (not the abuse btw). Therefore I don't support this film. You, on the other hand see an amazing film maker who just happen to sign the same, and you dont care and don't see a link.

  • hahah! a link to what? supporting child abuse. you are not suggesting that wes anderson "supports" child abuse? my bet is he just got to know the guy over the years and maybe he knows something that we dont. How are you so sure that the court was correct in its ruling. surely courts have ,made mistake previous to this.

  • Who cares? That doesn't make a person's movie bad.

  • That's pretty shitty that people are supporting a child rapist. I don't know what the hell Wes is thinking with this one, and that goes for anyone else is support for Polanski. I agree with you, it is crappy of Wes to do so, but I will still go see The Fantastic Mr. Fox. For one I am a huge fan of stop motion and Wes Anderson, and I don't feel by supporting Wes I am supporting Polanski.

  • Hey just wondering where you get your information from? Because i dont think wes anderson would just randomly support a child rapist. Please reply and back up your point.

  • Don't bother arguing with CenterOfReason. He clearly lacks logic and "reason."

  • Cannot wait! ''Wallace and Gromit" have kept the flag flying in England, so it's fantastic to see this art form alive & kicking in America.

  • does anybody remember the george pal puppet toons like tubby the tuba or ray harryhausen's jason and the argnnauts classic animation.

  • i love it..back to the basics...

  • wow!!... i love george clooney's acting..

    *tick tick*

    ahehehe
