  • P51 CADILLAC OF SKIES!!

  • its amazing how people ran in fear just from hearing that plane fly over

  • I have to say that is the most stunning aircraft I've ever seen. Simply beautiful. As I understand it, the decision to quit the o.d. green and camo paint schemes went away after air superiority was established in Europe. The highly polished bare metal was much more cost effective several years into a devastating conflict. Anybody know better? Thank you!

  • I thought its illegal to show sex in public?

  • I want one. Don't need one, nor do I think it will fit in my living room; but damn it I want one.

  • how did the p 51 entered the auropean theatre, i mean they could not cross the atlantic on one full tank, and i geuss that transporting them via ships was to dangerous deu to the submarines?

  • looks like a P-51K judging by the prop... no collars on it, the only Merlin Mustang variant so fitted

  • very cool

  • Best Prop fighter/escort ever devised by man. The Messerschmitt Bf 109 is a close second.

  • @the308capital the Messerschmidt is a close 4th behind the Spitfire and the Hurricane

  • Where is mein flak 38? :D

  • If I only had the money I'd make that beautiful girl mine

  • too bad they didnt make this until the end of the war and had to keep up with modern day fighters

  • im a bigger fan if the spit fire but damn thats a beautiful plane

  • What a beautiful antique

  • awesomeeee!!!!!!!!

  • great aircraft this, there were many great aircraft in ww2, from different nations, P51 had great range.

  • I want to thank the Vandy1 Team for taking me up in the Gal yesterday, I will never forget the ride. I also want to thank them for supporting the Wounded Warrior Project and showing us the time of our lives.

    SSG Court

  • yes

  • Reading over some of the comments, I really wish there was a button on here that Identified a person as a "gamer". Like a big red mark that says "I play call of duty online" then we would know what kind of idiots we are dealing with.

  • Watching the gnd crew push the aircraft gives you and idea of just how heavy the plane is and combat weight would have been much heavier with full internal fuel, drop tanks guns and ammo.

  • A great plane and a wonder to look at.............thanx for thr post

  • Would someone sane please advise when they went to a 4 blade prop? Korea?

  • @rg184511 Rolls Royce installed Merlin two stage supercharged engines in several MK I Mustangs in 1942 creating Mustang Mk X. With the Merlin engine they used a four blade (10') prop from the Spitfire. Later evolutions used the 4 blade Hamilton Standard prop.

  • @J14021 P51 was nearly solely designed by a German.

  • @rg184511

The four blade prop came in with the change in engines from the Allison in the P51A/A-36 to the Merlins or Packard Merlins in all subsequent models. The Allison engined birds tended to be quicker at low altitude, as they were lighter and had cleaner lines. The Merlins demanded a larger radiator and separate oil cooler too. Also of note beside the 4 blade prop difference the carb intake location changed. Allison intake on top of cowling-Merlin on the chin.

  • They had a 4 blade prop from the time the merlin went in i believe

  • @rg184511 the only mustang model to have the three blade was the first version known as the P-51A, and the A-36 Apache, and the British equivalent. From the P-51B through to the end of production all used four bladed props, mostly Hamilton Standard, with the exception of a few experimental versions that didn't become production models.

  • @ben41281 I was happy to learn the other day that the P-51A that many of us have seen in a video landing with another 51, chopping its tail, and both crashing, was actually a newly-manufactured aircraft and not an original A-model.

  • @rg184511 4 blade prop came into effect when the RR-Merlin engine was installed in WWII in the P-51B and C models.

  • this airoplanes is piece of CRAPS but what does all this peoples knows just like the russia have re-educations camps you was also re-educations in you living rooms every sunday nights via the television. now victory channel is re-educatig you so that why you know nothing else buts this mustangs YAKs was the bestest that what they teach us in the russia in the camps

  • Go drink some vodka and quit being so jealous of everything American mate... It's obvious as sin that you're envious of everything western because you live like a cockroach in a cardboard box and your life sucks.. I have an idea!! Be nice, marry some American chick you meet online and live in the land of milk and honey and not be a tosser...

  • @texNoz

    lol!

  • @volodyyy,

Your oration needs work. A lot of it.....

  • That plane is as American as the hot dog, both are German in origin, please.

  • a North american plane flying out of Grumman

  • Still,no names.

  • Adolph, You are a very patient person and must apologize for making you wait. Perhaps we can partner together on this fun project?

  • Rabbi Obama, I have given you an assignment to complete, the world has waited 65 yrs,we can wait a little longer. Any help from your Gov't.?? Maybe Speilberg can produce them for you, Hollywood is good at making things up.you know, visual propaganda.

  • Hello Adolph, I my new name you have given me. I think Speilberg does a great job of producing films portraying what happened so why duplicate it? Perhaps we should turn to the now "dead" Chief of Nazi Propaganda for the truth?

  • Actually, my relative's middle name was Adolph. You can read all about this hero. Wikepedia Robert Adolph Frank, and stand at attention for the Sturmbanfuhrer.

  • obama, where is my list of 6 million names?????? Still working on it. Hope u can come up with what the world has been waiting for for decades.

  • Adolph, Being of German and Austrian blood I would think that you and your family of Nazis would have kept copious notes of the 6 million names that went through those lovely German Death Camps. Could you do me small favor and stop by Auschwitz and get that ball rolling. Hmm, I know New York has a Jewish Museum dedicated to Holocaust victims. Perhaps your decades of wating is over. Deutschland under allies.

  • Still no names dumkopf, yet another has fallen victim to Allied Zion propaganda, brainless fool. Deutschland Uber Alles. HeHeHe

  • Sorry to disappoint you Adolph. And yes the true victim is the Nazi War Machine neutered by the Allied Forces. He He He. Deutschland Under the Allies.

  • P 51 was NOT the BEST.. the massaging of "public truth" began even before the Roman Empire. The more you know about "real history" versus "official history", the better equipped you are to see behind the lies of our times, even as they are told to you. Evidence of Revision sweeps "official truth" into the dustbin of history as it may be revised even as it is being written. Bunch of sheeps believe what the victors want them to believe. But we do need sheep in this country they make folks rich

  • Cut the sheep crap and get to your point. Victors normally win the history award because they are the victors. Also please do some history checking on "sheeps" Is it truly a word?

  • FW190D flew circles around this mut. Chuck Yeager admitted, best fighter of the war.

  • Really? Have you met Chuck Yeager or you talking out of you butt? Did you read it in a book of the FW190 being so superior? What page was it on?

  • Look it up Obama, won't do your work for you, dumkopf, show me that it wasn't. Deutschland Uber Alles.

  • if you state dumkopf, it's your responsibility to prove it Hitler wanna be. Good luck on the Deutschland lost to the allies.

  • Show me the proof, hasn't your Congressman returned your call, where are the names??? Guess it takes time to compile 6 million. Second thought the truly inquiring world has been waiting 65 yrs. Must be one person looking up that request, huh. Dumkopf. Deutschland Yber Alles. OH, enjoy the Mustang, inspired by the Me109 and fathered by Edgar Schmued, forever ingrained in your little brain, HEHE.

  • Edgar is our friend and the joke is on Deutschland under Allies. HA HA HA. I'm pleased that you are enjoying my hopping around commenting on your rubbish. HA HA HA. What's wrong sweetie did i hit a nerve? As for the proof you need on Yeager, perhaps you've been hitting the bottle a little too much? Dr. Death might have a living family member to cure your Dumkopf issue. Aushwitz might be a great resort for you? Think of all the friends you meet and educate the World on Germany's past.

  • Dumkopf, Yeager is OLDnews ,the current issue is your fictional list of 6 million names, where are they schwein?

  • Sorry Schwineschutzen, but your perspective also is Quite OLD News of Germans being the best in everything. We now live in a World Economy. Your Dumkopf request of 6 million names only conjures of the number of unfortunate Jews that lost their lives to the poorly managed Nazi War Machine.

  • Cannot produce names, HEH HEH HEH, got some good buildable swamp land for sale, cheap. HEH HEH.......... HEH

  • Sorry, but I already have a home and two cars. Now that i think about it Germans are meticulous records so bring it sweet heart. I really don't care about 6 million names. now lets get back to what page Yearger touts the F190 as being the best. If you can't bring home the goods I can always purchase the book and then return it.

  • Yes,that was his feelind as well as historians, now if i listed my country as Israel would this make any difference? Names first, dunke.

  • Dear Obama lover, I have picked up the book by Yeager and it in fact he does communicate that the FW-190 is on par with the P-51 but lacks the endurance of the P-51. Meaning that the FW-190 was quite good but had to go through landing, refueling. Page (43). On page (44) he references his perspective of the Americans becoming superior pilots with a "ten-to-one" kill ratio. Interesting information.

  • obama, Yery glad this all upsets u that you spend time researching false info. Your 10-1 ratio refers to the Allied planes in combat against German aircraft. always numerically outnumbered. Your aces are like u,insignificant. Deutschland Uber Alles.

  • Adolph, I don't think it is a sense of being upset yet the desire to prove you continue to be on the "losing" team. Your ratio understanding is incorrect but I don't care. Just like the too few German Aces your continued grasp to show the superiority of Germany has fallen on hard times. Deutschland under Allies.

  • I love these vintage aircraft, if only I could get my hands on one for under the amount that the U.S Government is in debt.

  • Yes, Jimmycurry, it is a shame that politics gets injected into these comments, and people get off on tangents that have nothing to do with the video being shown. Wish disparaging comments were not allowed on this site.

  • Sharpshooter1 DO NOT WAIST TIME WITH THIS PEOPLES. THEY IS PURIST THEY ONLY WANT TO BELIEVE WHAT VICTORY CHANNEL SAY TO THEM. THEY BELEIVE THAT THE russian SCUM WAS GOOD ALLIE. THEY IS IGNORANT AND PURISTS. THEY IS PRODUCT OF WHAT THE VICTORS LIE TO THEM THEY IS VERY POOR PEOPLES WHO DON THINK FOR HIMSELVETHEY SHOULD STICKIT TO FOOTBALL AND HOW TO MAKE THIS ILLITERATE GUYS MILLIONERS THE WORD BEST AIRPLANE WAS ME 109 DONT ARGUMENT WITH THIS STUPY GUYS

  • FW190 was superior to ME109. 109's visibility from cockpit was poor (FW190, Zero, P51, P47 all used teardrop canopy for much better visibility), cockpit was too small and range was too short. Had the 109 had better range (and a difference Reichsmarshall), the Battle of Britain may have turned out different.

  • @volodyyy You have the stones to call someone illiterate? Have you read your post? Learn to read and write spelling, sentence structure, and diction before you open your cake-hole.

  • Your "urban legend" smells of the victors clouding the truth just like they will find a way to downplay your Ft. Hood massacre even though they had prior knowlege this major was on a road to no return. Well, you maje your bed and must lie in it.

  • Edgar Schmued, related to his German origins he had once worked for Willy Messerschmitt and that the Mustang was heavily influenced by the Bf 109. Just read a little and stop watching Victory Channel they make all lies there for you to believe. Then like Romans they build you colosium as you call stadium and gave you the games. While they steal and lie to you

  • Correction here. the counrtry that I came from is number 1 in world war II murder. This russian scum lies and the U.S. believes this lie. You are poor people that do not read or research just watch football and listen to what Victory Channel tell you. Ha ha try living under this scum

  • Came to life at 1:56. AWSOME!

  • can any one tell me why the weel doors hang open when not running

  • Hydraulic fluid bleeds off from the door retracting mechanism. Doors drop. When the aircraft starts up, the fluid is activated again and the doors retract, I believe. If I am wrong, I apologize and will accept the criticizm.

  • superb - love the 339th color scheme

  • Correct. That would be the 339th FG from Fowlmere, England. Part of the 8th Air Force (MIghty 8th Air Force!).

  • Actually, as I look down through the list of comments, I C all this talk about WWII and who was better still.. OMFG.. The war is over.. You lost.. You killed millions of innocent people.. You Pro NAZI people are insane.. Just reading YouTube comments from some very sad Germans makes me very proud to know that there are over 70,000 US soldiers in Germany right now making sure that you loonies can never build up and try to do this again.. You people absolutely disgust me.. Think about humanity..

  • Agreed. Too bad that some people used this platform to whine about their German nationalism. You gave an answer to them that is better than I can. Why don't we all just enjoy the P-51 and stop beating a dead horse regarding WW II?

  • Nobody whining about german pride. Only ones complaining are the hipocrites who are crushed when they learn the P-51 was designed by Edgar Schmued an ex Messerschmitt employee and that the Mustang was greatly influenced by the ME109. Problem with that then learn history before u wave your flag.

  • Please document and reference your assertion that the mustang was "greatly influenced by the Me109 (actually it is the bf109)". I would appreciate this, sir.

  • Read about Edgar Schmued and be enlightened, you found this page thru internet, 1/2 your work is done. Deutschland Uber Alles.

  • Dear Sir, I have read quite a bit now about Edgar Schmued, and just being the messenger, Wikipedia, the world's free encyclopedia, asserts that it is an "urban legend" (it's quote, not mine) that the P-51 was heavily influenced by the bf109. Sorry Herr Scharfschutzen1, but I am more apt to believe Wikipedia than to believe you.

  • Your wikepedia must be tied to the Allied propaganda History Channel. You just sound like another American patriot who now thinks his glorious P-51 is an all American venture . Same GERMAN who engineered this also developed the F-86...F100 Super Sabre as well as others. If U knew the truthful history of this plane u would not be emailing me.Suggest you cry on your biased flag and get it out. Guess you will deny the American indian was not murdered, bribed and tricked for their land. Hipocrites.

  • I want to thank Edgar for leaving Germany and taking his great German education and designing the glorius Mustang. I wonder what a German pilot felt when he was being shot down by a German designed airplane. He gives the "finger" to Germany and then becomes an American Patriot.

  • Maybe a German engineered the Airframe. However it was a British engine fitted with an American supercharger that made it great!

  • You are correct Sir.

  • @minuteman3 It was great as long as the American propaganda machine has you absorb their point.,correct?

  • @Scharfschutzen1 OH GAWD, I am the son of a Mustang Pilot, a 20 year veteran of the USAF with extensive experience in CCC, Combat Operations, and Space Operations, I have talked to my Father and other WWII Mustang Aces extensively, about it, all I said was it was a great fighter, not the greatest because that would lead to too much speculation from the peanut gallery . Fact is it was a great high altitude long range fighter and propaganda has nothing to do with that. So don't give me that BS

  • @minuteman3 That; funny because relatives were Luftwaffe Ace and i believe they shot down more planes than your father's entire wing, so don't U hand me your bull shit, stupid american, 5 planes and u think u are pilots. Germans showed u how to do it but u will never equal it.

  • @Scharfschutzen1 Who won? Ohh yeah who also paid for your defense against the Russians for the last 60 years? The majority of the kills the German Air Force got were against woefully inadequate fighters on the eastern front. Its really great when you are fighting Poles and Russians flying biplanes Hell, the German Air Force had their asses handed to them in the summer of 1940 before the USAAF ever got there. Then when we showed up it got worse for you. don't revise history. You lost

  • @Scharfschutzen1 Plus German pilots were in the war for the duration. American Pilots were rotated home after 50 missions. During 1945 some didn't even see a German Airplane because the Luftwaffe was so decimated and there was not only a lack of live pilots, but of fuel, serviceable airplanes, and parts. Before you spout any of your propaganda here, why don't you read Gunter Ralls' (who was a great ace) book "Mein Flugbuch ", because you are just starting to sound ignorant.

  • @minuteman3 My friend is a friend of Gunther until his death a very few yrs. ago , i suggest you do some reading and stop believing the History Channel. oh yeah who created it, the American??? Look for real truth and stop believing propaganda, u are starting to sound ignorant.

  • @minuteman3 Ask your father if he has the gun camera footage from his Pusstang strafing women, children, animals, farmers in this "Gallant" effort. that is recorded as factual.

  • @Scharfschutzen1

Too bad they didn't strafe a few more while they were at it.

  • @drbackjack Guess your heros were too busy gettin ready to drop 2 nuclear devices on civiian targets, very noble. Glad Krauts designed and engineered this plane u like, always remember this.

  • @Scharfschutzen1 Please.....please.......do it as a personal favor.......really.......GO TO HELL, YOU, YOUR WHIP OF TRUTH AND YOUR BULLSHIT! All the killed civilians and innocent people of every single war in the history of mankind are losing sleep in their coffins at the thought of being "defended" by such an ASSHOLE.. Oh, didn't I tell you by the way?...GERMANY LOST WORLD WAR II! Get over it!

  • @hide86 Now seriously everybody...Isn't it SO ironic that even though being respected and sometimes feared by their German and Japanese opponents, US soldiers and pilots who fought in WWII have to be disrespected by the words of an asshole like this guy? Even Hitler would ask him to shut the fuck up..what a DUMKOPF, wasn't that your favorite insult ScharfStupiden?

  • @hide86 And u have never won a war on your own, always the help of other nations so u can say "we won" never "ourselves". You cannot even handle towels heads in middle east, what 9yrs. now??? What happened your country cannot drop more nuclear devices, fuckin idiot hypocrite, glad my whip has struck your azz, yell louder, i'm enjoying it. Deutschland Uber Alles.

  • @Scharfschutzen1 nuclear WHAT? Are we talking about the same country?? I'm starting to think you don't even know the very basics of geography, let alone history..DUMKOPF :)

  • @hide86 Dipshit, Guess you never heard of Nagasaki or Hiroshima, mental fuckin moron.

  • @Scharfschutzen1 MY country? what the hell are you talking about? As I suspected, not even close to knowing a tiny little bit of history..I repeat my question: ARE WE TALKING ABOUT THE SAME COUNTRY? MY COUNTRY IS THE ONE THAT DROPPED NUCLEAR WARHEADS ON JAPAN IN 1945? Then you're REALLY an idiot...

  • @minuteman3 Amen!!! I think they are one of the top 5 fighter aircraft ever built. If I could have been born into that generation and been granted the chance to drive one I could say that I would have been a very happy man

  • @minuteman3 A German designed this plane, it did have a British engine, but the rest is American.

I think they put the Merlin engine into the Hawk also somewhere down the line, like the Hawk 87.

  • @mrceebees14 The Curtiss P-40F/L Warhawk received a Packard built Merlin V-1650-1 and they used them in North Africa and Italy against the Me.109.

  • @minuteman3

The engine was nothing special. Just 1650 PS. Other engines at the same time had over 2000 PS ... what the P-51 made to such a good plane was the airframe!!! :-)

  • @couteau86 Thats where you are wrong. The engine was special because it was able to make 1680 HP at sea level and at 25k ft. Because of the two stage supercharger, it had the greatest power to displacement ratio of any American fighter. Plus the other engines that had over 2000 HP gulped massive amounts of fuel compared to the Mustangs. The Mustang was great because of all of the factors, engine, airframe, and the new laminar flow wing.

  • @minuteman3

The Daimler-Benz DB603G engine, for example, had a power of 1900 PS and this was a engine that fit in a airframe of a Bf109. So, the power of the engine was nothing special. A other v-engine with a equal size and power also had can do the job. In the end it was the realy good aerodynamics of the airframe and wings ;-)

  • @couteau86 I think you are actually talking about the prototypes. the Daimler-Benz DB603G engine never produced that type of power above 20k, plus with the horrible Gasoline the Germans where using towards the end of the war, there is no way to ever achieve that rating. Besides by that time the P-51H with 2200hp was actually starting to roll off the assembly lines. The DB 603g specifically never went into production You do understand the difference between Operational and Prototype right?

  • @minuteman3

The Heinkel He219 A7/R1 had this engine. Ok, it was just a very smal number of planes, but they had this engine. Or whats up with the Messerschmitt Me410??? She had DB603A engines with 1750 PS ... and just by the way, the V-1650-9A of the P-51H had 1830 PS, not 2200. This was the V-1650-11 engine that never was instaled in a series version of the P-51 ...

  • @minuteman3

North American (a subsidiary of General Motors out of Dallas Texas) engineered that airframe.

The British did engineer the motors for it, but the Packard version of it sounds a lot meaner and had better performance than the matching Allison engine, plus all parts were machine tooled/cast and mass produced, so they could be repaired faster than the Rolls-Royce counterpart which was hand made.

All I know is that somewhere, some neo-nazi skinhead is shitting himself at the sound!

  • Perhaps Edgar came to the U.S. because he knew that Deutschland was going to be Kaput.

  • chk666666; You must be talking about the Russians who murdered 26 plus million during the WWII yrs. not to mention post war. Oh, they were your country's ally, do you condone these horiffic acts?

  • Wow, I've touched a nerve here.

Guess you guys will never live down LOSING WW2.

It's tough to face for you I know, but the facts are there. P51B, C and D models shot down your precious luftwaffe in HORRIFYING numbers.

I feel sad for WW2 German pilots.

    :(

  • Don't forget Adolfs Jet's that were shot down by P51's

  • by p51 ´S by 20 to be exact

  • Finally somebody who can relate to me!....lol awesome comment man.....awesome

  • HayateAce Itsa shame but you are STUPID when it comes to history Why dont u worry about the jobs u are sending to China and India? Why dont u worry about were ur next job will be? Why don't u worry about how much in debt u are to China? The rich dont care you made them rich and they took all their money and today live in DUBAI. How about you? You worry about a bunch of lies told to you by the Victors. Worry about your future. you wont have aces no more computers will do that for you.

  • HayateAce and what aces gave you todays missle technology? What aces got the scum russian sputnik in space? It was all German technology. What gave you the Sabre? All you know is what the Victory Channel shows you thats it. You do not know much about operation Paperclip I assume? You just know how to spout out your stupidity. Volodyyy is right stick to football. The war was designed to make your rich richer. They outproduced the Germans on everything. The russian relied on your supplies

  • Totally agree with everything you said.

  • HermanDGerman.. Are you really proud that your country slaughtered millions of helpless people.. Are you proud that because of your country, the US had to a build a huge military force? It's almost sickening to think we are all human beings on the same planet and you have so much pride in a mis founded idea.. Who cares about designing weapons, missles, etc.. You should be ashamed for being proud of why the world is how it is today by thinking that way.. Pathetic..

  • HayateAce just got the link sent to me from one of the readers. Got a question for you. Who is we? It was not just the US in the war it was half the world aginst a country the size of Wisconcin. They did not loose the war they were simply overwhelmed. Who bombed your factories? When they went up against your GREAT so called aces in the west they went up against an overwheming force with old worn out aircraft & still manged to run circles around your aces. What Aces got u to the moon?

  • HayateAce you always make an asshole of yourself????????? No wonder the world has a diffrent opinion of the u.s go back and watch a football game and make heroes from the illeterate rapists and dog killers you fool. Thats the only aces you have.

  • Real legends: ????

    Or real liars??

    Bud Anderson

    George Preddy

    Richard Bong

    Robert S. Johnson

Thay wouldnt make a pimple on the Geramn Ace list. And what kind of experience did these victors have? Same as their aliies the ruskaya parasites.

Stop being a purist and give credit were it is due. And admit the the victors lied to you and stilll do

  • volodyyy writes "Thay wouldnt make a pimple on the Geramn Ace list. And what kind of experience did these victors have? Same as their aliies the ruskaya parasites."

Volodyyy while your german aces had to fly during the WHOLE war until they died, the US pilots go through a rotation where they come back and become flight instructors to new pilots after their tour.. I would sure as hell hope some German pilots flying 5+ years would have more kills than the US that only flew months at a time..

  • Since we are on the subject you purists should know the mustang was designed by German born Edgar Schmued who worked for Messerschmitt and the ME 109 was the inspiration for the P51. Deutschland Uber Alles.

  • I think Edgar is the coolest guy in the World. Some Dumkopf in German pissed Edgar off and next thing you know he's eating hot dogs and hamburgers in America designing a pure Cadillac of the sky. Deutschland Uber Alles.

  • As long as u end it with Deutschland Uber Alles there is no argument from me,hipocrite, by the way, Deutschland Uber Alles !!!!!

  • Beautiful plane, perhaps too pretty. (Think of a Sherman tank that was all chromed and polished out..) I'd love it just as much dirty, olive drab and dented!

  • Oh Thank youl, This is my All Time Fave. The P-51 What a plane, what a sound I love it Thanks Again

  • *sniff*

    beutiful, just beutiful.

    my vote best plane eveeeer!

  • 2:42 - 2:55.... excellent!!

  • German Planes are the BEST

  • Yeah, I'd like to see a real FW 190 or D-9. I don't know of any here in the U.S.

  • in germany a still 9 from the Flugwerke 2 are still flying at the moment this year i can see them by the Hahnweide Airshow

  • Is that the Oldtimer Show? I'm jealous.

  • yes there are 2 Mustangs 1 Spitfire Mk 19

many Stearmans t6 Skyrider Many Yak's

P40 its really big warbird meeting

  • yeah thats why the p51 blew the shit out of the MEs. US planes always had the upperhand over everyone and we still do. you could can never touch the raptor or even the f18

  • But German Pilot were better Pilots !

    Adolf Galland

    Erich Hartmann

    Gerhard Barkhorn

    are the legends!!!!

  • FALSE

These guys were just able to score kills because of two reasons:

1 - They never retired german pilots, they used them up until they died or the war ended. Thus they flew COUNTLESS sorties

2 - Most of their kills came on the eastern front, against inexperienced russian pilots, flying deathtrap soviet planes.

Look it up, when Hartmann got to the Western front, his kill rates PLUMMETED.

    Real legends:

    Bud Anderson

    George Preddy

    Richard Bong

    Robert S. Johnson

  • his kill rates plummeted because

they had to fight with maybe 12Me 109 against 30 Mustangs!!!

  • Dumkopf, Hartmann had more time inspecting his fighter on the ground than all your so called aces had in the air. You are not even a discussion, DISMISSED.

  • TaintedPost: Total bullshit, read if u can.

  • Taintodarkness69....you are the kind of uneducated American that pisses people off. Most of the great aircraft of WW2 were British and German not American...the P51 wasn't a great aircraft until they put a British engine in it. Most of the pilots the P-51s were shooting down were kids with hardly any experience......many of the Germans best pilots were already dead by the time the P-51s made an impact in 1943-45

  • Dumkopf, wer u in the cockpit With Erich Hartmann when he blew out of the sky every P51 he encountered?? For your info. the Mustang was inspired by the ME109 and designed by ex Messerschmitt employee and engineer Edgar Schmued, now hipocrite patriot go wave your flags, one Ami the other German.

  • False.

Your precious harmann's kill ratio PLUMMETED once he got to the western front. Read a book sometime instead of living in your fantasy world.

Oh yeah, hartmann was shot down by a P51, so boohoo to you.

  • Nice plane, designed by German engineer Ed Schmeud.

  • GENAU :))))

  • that's why i said they were no efficient during WWII. But after war it was german engenieers who made modern aircraft posible. for example after WWII a german came to my country (argentina) and developed the "pulqui I and II" but goverment didn't support further and went to rusia with the proyect and it become the mi-17. same happend with the Glostier, camberras and even the Sabre. All german developments.

  • They all look similar?? Im sure you might be comparing with the luftwafe "secret weapons" Yes, those were not conventional aircrafts. But none of their designs were efficient during WWII. AND the p51 designer was german. The me-262 was only efective as bomber interseptor.a hit and run aircraft. the early jet engines had so slow reaction and low thrust. had little acceleration. But once speed gained,it could mantain it easily since there were no prop to aply drag on the airframe.but forget to turn.

  • OK I overestimated the 262 a bit. As I know the Me262-A-2 (bomber version) was not as fast as the fighter version. It could have been a good fighter if they had pilots petrol and a little support from the german high command. But it was good enough for both the soviets and americans to make some experiments and build their own planes, so it mustn't be bad at all.

  • It's a vary nice plane.

I love the sound of the merlin2

    engine.

  • You will hate me for this: I do not like ww2 American aircrafts. They all look similar. But at least it was effective... as long as the Me-262 fighters did not appear.

  • Huh? How so? P51 looks completely different from a F4U or F6F or P-38 or P-39..The list goes on. Even the old P-51 looked different from the newer ones.

  • The old girl made mincemeat of anything in her path. Truly the best of the best, can I get a "Hell yeah"?

  • What I would give just to fly one of those birds. Maybe one of these days I'll have to scrape together enough pennies and get an r/c.

  • You know, with a license, you can BUY a real P-51 so long as it has passed it's yearly inspections. cost 2-3 million. That's actually cheap compared to other WWII fighters. NA made way too many, thus, they are the most common WWII fighter left. The expensive part is fuel, storage, and maintenance(which requires a small, knowledgeable crew). BTW the price of a P-51 in 1944 was $45,000!

  • yeah, but, now its so devaluated taht 45000 would be like 45 million XD

  • anyone hear about that crazy fuck-o tom cruise owning a p-51

  • I'd give anything for all current weapons to just dissapear for a war,so we could dogfight with the P-51 again. I love this plane it's the coolest thing on this planet.

  • A magical aircraft, shame about the douche commentating. I didn't know the packard/ rolls-royce merlin was an inline engine!! what a plum

  • i thought it was a v12

  • The Merlin is a Vee engine, shame that no-one told the guy commentating about that before he started mis-informing everyone

  • let me hear your guns!

  • A tank's worst enemy, pure glory!

  • Educated Snarl! Love the merlin sound!

  • THEE best attack aircraft during the WW2 era...is now and always will be one of my all time favorites

  • You see this girl and you say GOD BLESS OUR WW2 AR VETERANS!

  • the owner of this is the luckiest human on earth

  • Great!

  • The P51 is a simply stunning aircraft, arguably one of the finest airplanes of all time.

The sound of the Rolls Royce Merlin just caps it all off.

If I ever win a serious amount on the lottery then I know what I'm going to buy!!!

  • Haha i know what you mean

  • She is beautiful!

  • p51 owners, please, please be careful with these beautiful birds!!

  • that is the best wwII plane.
