  • Paid amateur! A wannabe! John Waite Rocks!

  • This guy cannot compare to John Waite...John is still touring today and singing this song in 4/40 tuning and hitting every note clean still...unlike this guy who is screaming the notes in flat tuning no less...please don't compare John to an amateur.

  • This goes to show how amazing John Waite is.. The song is tuned down and he is still having trouble hitting the notes.... JOHN WAITE ROCKS!

  • @IslamISsick1 where is he having trouble hitting the notes? His notes are longer and more powerful plus his bends are different from John's, hitting even higher notes than John. John Waite rocks indeed but this guy nails this great song too. The song is indeed tuned down but the singer's vocal range is fantastic, to say the least. I kinda like both versions, they are so different.

  • Very good job! He reminds me of John Schneider.......love the Baby's version best.

  • Excellent job. One of the greatest songs. Rock meets soul indeed.

  • GREAT JOB

  • the left background singer looks like the one from Glee

  • I think this is pretty good but John Waite is the man

  • best song never to get da respect.one level above any journey songlarry da lunatic

  • I"m sorry but this man makes John Waits "The Babys" song come off like a Tom Jones act. Please stop this man.

  • The babys are from the UK not America.

  • This is true however he had 2 bads in the USA prior to The Babys and Bad English.

  • John Waite, you're fired! NOT

  • Hey I have a great idea. Why don't you take this Tom Jones Act and I"ll take the Babys and lets pray I never have to see this again.

  • Good cover, good vocals, but the Baby's ROCK no doubt... yeah BABY, how about a reunion tour!

  • Great version!

  • wEAK!

  • I liked, I liked!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • An original like the Baby's version of this is a tough act to follow. But this is about as good as it gets. Great job.

  • While this is not as good as The Baby's original version from 1977, I think this is certainly a very noble effort. For a cover, it is pretty good I think. I do like the gals doing th chorus. The chorus MUST have a woman's voice. The original was beautiful.

  • really good cover from a sweaaaaedish act, he is 100% sweedish, so to do an american classic as this is respectable to say the least

  • Euhmm this guy is belgian :-)

  • Unfortunately John Waite is from the UK. Yes I know he sounds American. Well we treat him like one of "us" in the US of A. However John Waite did have 2 bands from the US before the Babys. He does come off as US.

  • This is not even close to the original version by The Babys who were an amazingly artistic band. This cut has no art/guts at all. Really amateur playing apart from the strings. The bass is awful and the back-ups are very weak next to the gospel singers on The Babys hit. No big Hammond organ sound here and the piano in the verses is just awful compared with the original. Pathetic! Fake soul. Long live real thing....The Babys.

    PLEASE REUNITE!!!!!!

  • I like this version, jajaja seems to me Luis Miguel singing!! I prefer the original The Babys, also this version is so good than JW could sing now!! YEAHH!

  • I like the sound of that 5-string bassguitar pounding. They weren't around back then. I'd say that's an improvement to the original.

  • If the original band The Babys had been allowed to follow its original charter it would have been a colossus striding the stage of the popular music scene.

In my estimation it would have been second only to the Beatles and a long way in front of third place.

A big statement, but this band was already building an empire of writers, orchestrators and backing singers during only its second "official" album.

  • @waltstockerthegreat The Babys seemed to have had a stumbling block in failing to write any hit making material for themselves unlike Foreigner / Journey etc who wrote all of their own material

  • good cover but nothing can come close to the original babys.

  • Extraordinary cover- yes, the mix needs to boost the back up women. If that mix were fixed, this would equal the original.

  • Back up singers are too weak for this version.

  • I love those horns! They're terrific! Those background singers deliver the goods too! The lead singer leads this awesome remake of The Babys classic. Rock On!

  • Excelent Version!!!

  • Oh my gawd this guy is incredible!

  • Got to agree with ogam5, one of the best covers I've ever heard. I don't even know who this guy is. He can sing his *ss off.

  • I know that this isn't going to be a popular view, and it's rare that a song I love is trumped by a later version, but the changed arrangement makes this take even more powerful than Waite's on the original (I too saw the Babys open for Journey in 1980; still one of my Top 25 shows ever.....) It takes on even more of a Who-like demeanor as opposed to the clearly Motown-leaning Babys version.....

  • the back ups are the sht

  • shame his voice is got so low

moved from B to G#. really changes the song

  • Well, for one thing, it's a different guy. And this version is in F, the original was in G.

  • WOW! I just clicked on this for the hell of it, but I must confess that I am really pleasantly surprised by how good this is. Of course, NOTHING will touch the original version by John Waite, Mike Corby and Co. but this is definitely worth watching. Thanks for posting. I was a little girl in the late 70's, but I remember this song, "Every Time I Think of You", "Back On My Feet Again," and "Midnight Rendezvous." Great job by Udo!

  • Thanks for that,

    MC

  • Damn.....he does nail it -- but as John Waite is the original....the babys were amazing.. Lucky enough to see them open for Journey in 1981......

  • This sounds really good. It's surprising.

  • MAJOR FAUX PAS. The piano player needs about 5 pianos and organs around him. Make it just like the 70's. Even if they aren't hooked up, it would look cool and make a true control center.

  • Major faux pas, going on liveshow 10 pretending you can play when you really can't. Funny, I read that from someone in the know.

  • it's nice to see the song covered but Mike Corby's group the Babys along with the Babettes Lisa Freeman-Roberts, Myrna Matthews and Marti McCall set an impossible standard.

  • Pat Henderson, I think Marti sang on the Album version of Evertime I Think of You.

    Thanks for the correction.

  • kindbud11, you need to take a cold shower. This is a great song, performed to perfection by The Babys.

  • esctoday(dot)com(slash)multimedia(slash)gallery(slash)31

  • i think this might be it, have a look 4 urself !!!

just as hot in this pic. oh yeh, btw, u have to add the world wide web and htt part first, and then the rest

  • All I want to know is WHO and WHERE is the brunette backup singer...WOW, I think she is georgous, and has an incredible voice. I'd like to hear her sing anything else, be it solo or as a backup. If anyone has seen her perform ANYWHERE or for ANYONE else, please drop a link or the info... Thankx

  • This song was from an original written by Jack Conrad and Ray Kennedy who wrote it for the Babys a group founded by Adrian Millar and Mike Corby.

  • Please go to the myspace site of The1stBaby and read the wonderful letter written by MC. Hopefully, this will help bury the hatchet and restore tranquility as we all agree that the 4 parts of the original lineup made this band great.

  • Comment removed

  • ok, forget i said anything, i think its still a damn good performance for amatuers...or does anyone know these people?

  • wow, not to offend ANYONE here, as it seems there are some "Baby's" members, founders, etc..., whoever you are in here. But this cat has done a great performance of this song, (if you compare it to the other you tube performances by JW. The backup singers (especially the brunette, that's some hardcore eyecandy) and the horn section, the pianist, this is VERY well done, almost makes american idol performances look like a mickey mouse club show....

  • The piano playing's pathetic... are you deaf? No left hand and half the part is missing because he can't play it. Still, what would I know about music?

  • ya, no shit, where is the left side back-up singer, (brunette) she is absolutely georgeous !!!

  • After a stint in the US he returned to the UK, where he started The Babys. johnwaite dot com/johnwaite/jwbiography.htm Mike Corby and Adrian Millar started the Babys.

  • Thanks for the info buddy. Why would he say he started the band if he didn't? I don't get it?

  • I think he regarded The Babys as a kind of starter band for his career whereas they were far more significant than that, or could have been we'll never know so he didn't really care what the fans knew.

  • It's called laurel-thieving, chewonthatblue. He wants to steal the glory for it, I should imagine. However, documentary evidence as shown in the original contract between Millar and me has put an end to that claim. See thebabysarchives dot com The truth hurts.

  • Hey, thanks for the heads up bud. Will check out the site. You can't beat the old documents to prove the truth eh? I still find it hard to comprehend that anyone would make claims that can't be backed up. Either pretty gutsy, or pretty stupid. My guess is the latter.

  • Udo rules!!

Udo kan echt wel super zingen ^^

  • That is the Scotish Air. That does miracles for you.

  • PS: It ain't my birthday. JCW and I have birthdays 24hrs apart - rather hard for JCW to forget, really. Nice of you to thank me for the lyrics - I never wrote any. See ya!

  • Blackjack. Game over.

    MC

  • MC.The Babys got me through the high school years, especially your unique keyboarding. I am truly grateful. Blackjack

  • wow blackjack i agree. mc had all the talent didn't he? he had the looks, stage charisma and i am sure was the major drawcard for the babys. no wonder they shit the bed after he left. talk about crap. maybe with the exception of everytime i think of you. classy song.

  • That's right Marco and Lucie had a hit with Everytime I Think Of You...and what a super job they did! Thanks to all for all the kind words and many, many thanks to all the artists especially in the Netherlands who keep these tunes alive. Warmest regards, the role player known as hollywoodjaxx

  • it seems that I had been misinformed by an artist who is well known for forgetting lyrics about the original quality of this masterpiece. We salute Jacon and X-Ray!!!

  • He's verry cute and I love his way of performing songs. It was really a good choise as first single...

Ik volgde X-Factor niet, maar dit was een goede keuze als eerste single...

    x

  • He's a bit of a cutey isn't he? He does a pretty good version, (maybe I was swayed by his shy smile) but yes, sherbetgirl, Daryl does it better!

  • Comment removed

  • No arguments there. Sherbetgirl. He puts us to shame! His version is about being happy with someone. Ours is about being desperate for a shag!

    Keep misbehavin'

    Michael

  • Is this some kinda role playing game you 2 are doing (hollywoodjaxx & The1stBaby)? Or are you 2 one in the same?

  • By the way, Jack, it was your writing skills and not my piano skills that made this song. Without this song I think I would probably have been an extremely successful nobody. You changed my life by letting me record it and sooner or later this song was going to make it, with or without me. Thanks for the ludicrously generous compliment just the same. Michael Corby

PS: As it's been 30 years since we last spoke can we stay in touch more often as I will be dead in the next 30?

  • Michael,

Thanks for all the wonderful music and lyrics. The Babys were on the verge of greatness. You were the foundation. Too bad things couldn't click with JCW.

    Thanks again.

  • It's Time, blackjack.

  • That's for certain...Just don't know how "The Babettes" will look after all these years... P.S. Happy Birthday 1stBaby..

  • And how old are the Babys these days?

I guess f.i. John Waite must be about 58 now.

  • John will be 55 on July 4th. As the old man of the original band, I will be 56 on July 3rd. TB and WS are a couple of years behind.

  • Happy birthday 1stBaby...You truly are a Rock God, please don't disappear again. A true fan,

    BlackJack.

  • Happy Birthday to Mike Corby and John waite

56 and 55 years young now!

  • Hi Sherbetgirl that is your privilige

  • That's my real name wouter kramer

  • In regards to your comment, success is measured from within. If we are talking about a successful music career, then absolutely John has achieved more accolades than MC. I am not qualified to measure MC's success as an individual, would you care to elaborate?

  • Comment removed

  • Absolutely. I am also a true fan of JCW. Am I wrong to say MC has been out of the music industry? Don't mean any disrespect to MC, it's the truth though!

  • Comment removed

  • I really liked the long dangling earrings that MC and JCW always wore. How about that black and yellow checkered sport coat that JCW used to wear? They were rebels.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, what a coincidence. My favorite Beatle was Pete Best. I didn't really care too much for John or Paul!

Pete always dressed real snazzy too!

  • Comment removed

  • Pete was asked to leave his own band in 1960, ironically called the BlackJacks, to join the Beatles. He will always be remembered as the man who put the Beat in the Beatles.

God Bless you, Sherbetgirl. You're pretty sharp.

  • Lynny..... GAME OVER!

    MC

  • Whoa! 1stBaby and blackjack! You guys were behind this? Great job! I do this song in my soloact. Being a lazy person, I would have put the vocal over that same piano riff and thought I was the goods. But you guys took the trouble to go from G to Bm, F#m, C then BACK to that riff. Nicely done.

  • Now forgive me for mentioning it, Jack, but as I remember it you played the bass on the original which was brilliant as well as writing it so I think it is me that should be prostrating myself in front of you, no? Isn't It Time we got together and did it again? MC

  • What's all this about? Does anyone know where I can find the backing singer on the left?

    Michael Corby - The Babys

  • Hey Michael, UDO had a number 1 in Benelux and won a show called The X Factor with this cut last year. Marco Borsato and Lucie Silvas had a hit with Isn't It Time in the same territory end of last year. Couldn't have done it without you! Warmest regards, Jack Conrad

  • Both Micheal Corby, Ray kennedy and Jack Conrad did a great job on this song as they did on Every Time I Think Of You.

BTW Marco had a hit with EveryTime I Think Of You, not Isn't It Time. I thank you for those masterpieces. I really believe John waite did a fantastic lead vocal on both songs, no matter what.

Mike Corbys piano piece in unforgettable

  • ya, if you know tell me as well, I have a great gig for her, I'd really love to hear her perform by herself...

  • great song, great voice ,well done

  • good version the babys were five album wonders, john waite 7 solo albums and ringo's all starr band 2003, tony brock worked with rod stewart, roy orbison, elton john

  • Yes! "Isn't It Time" Great song! The Babys - 2 hit wonders. My friend's band opened a show for the Babys in their heyday of the late 1970's.

  • Has been released as a single and went to number 1 :)

  • Excellent Job On This Classic Originally Performed By The Babys. Kudos To Udo !!
