IMHO a cook should be able to kill what he cooks. At least the small stuff like fish and poultry - to bring down the horned variety you need skill and proper tools or the animal will suffer needlessly...
I remember seeing this in the theater. The cut from Ja Chien's closeup at her computer to the full view of her office and the cityscape had a nice visual impact. This movie is imho really suited to theater viewing because it's such a sensory film. I also remember people fleeing the theater after the movie in search of the nearest Asian restaurant. :)
@babybunnyberry - Um . . . I hate to be the bearer of bad news but . . . yes, Hollywood bastardized this version of the film and being the purist that I am, did not like it much . . . just like they made a remake of the German culinary classic "Mostly Martha" and turned it into "No Reservations" with Catherine Zeta Jones . . . bleech!
@carathebaker Hell yeah. I haven't seen the original version of this film but you've mentioned Mostly Martha being bastardized by Hollywood, I just nod in total agreement. Fecking idiots buy into ideals of anything made in America, not knowing they're missing out on an otherwise brilliant film made in Germany.
@roseheroine I mean really, Hollywood should learn that not all movie goers are mindless idiots . . . oops, excuse the repetition . . . after all, if you're mindless, you are an idiot and if you're an idiot you're mindless . . . well, you get the point.
Why would anyone want to be vegetarian?
Do you want to convince a tiger or a lion to be vegetarian?
Humans are not born to be vegetarians.
How about a balanced diet?
