If you study films you will understand that in traditional western film. The wild/desert represent the uncivilized, chaos, the danger. While the home represents safety, civilization, peacefulness..etc This direction is brilliant filming bill and bride talking on the ramps, suggesting it's a decisive move for bride where she tries to change her life style.

One of the great moments in cinematography. Love the relationship between Bill and the Bride. She loves him but she's afraid of him at the same time because she knows what he can do.

That being said, Tarantino is a master at it.
