I like the post but you under estimated the death toll in Chile & Panama, I know for a fact because I'm Panamanian that the death toll in Panama was very close to 5000 Non Military Men Women & Children. BTW, sociology, history and geography (i.e. "foreign policy") are taught in school, as early as junior high, but these topics were limited and de-emphasized by combining them all in a class subject called "social studies", instead of being separated into 3 class subjects like they were before the mid-20th Century.
