I've seen this one, and it's the only version I'm not really a fan of. I even like the 1982 TV movie version more than this one. Gore is over the top. The Phantom seems too much the like Penguin from Batman Returns. Even the opening scenes look the same except The Phantom was raised by rats. I keep thinking of Willard plus there's a rat with red eyes who could be Ben. The Opera managers are pedophiles too. I seem to recall this having a great version of Carlotta though.

Yeah i just bought this movie and watched it and i thought it was way better than it looked in the trailer. i love dario argento and i think he wanted to try something a little different to deep red, suspiria, tenebrae etc. so i suggest that if your local video rental store has this, go rent it. if a video store has this, buy it right that very second because it is extremely rare. one of the best movies i have ever seen from Dario Argento.
The original film is Great but this trailer is really bad. Believe me, if you see the film i think you'll find it really good. Don't even compare the full sized movie with this trailer.

Hmm...can't really call that one 'cause I haven't seen either of them, but I'm a big fan of both Argentos and Julian Sands and I think I might have a twisted enough mind to accept this if I pretend it has anything to do with anything Phantom-related.

dude i am a huge fan of argentos movies, he is a fukin god, but man, this is his worst movie, the only good thing of this movie is some gore scenes and the music, the rest is crap. dont even think in buying this like me.

for those who think they know better about the phantom not having s mask READ THE BOOK!! THE PHANTOM DID HAVE A MASK IN THE ORIGINAL STORY!! this film is a lode of bolocs its so off the story and contains so much rubish that makes no sence what so ever.

Also in the original The Phantom didnt have a mask. The mask wasnt introduced until the musical was created. The mask idea was also used in the 2004 version of the film.

All I want out of this film is the name of a piano music that was playing in one of the scenes in the movie. To be honest here; I didn't care for this film I just want someone who has seen the film and knows the name of a certain piano music that was playing when a little ballerina runs into a rehearsal room with other ballerinas practicing after she escapes a perv that is killed by the phantom. Please send me a message if anyone knows what I am talking about.

Yeah i just bought this movie and watched it and i thought it was way better than it looked in the trailer. i love dario argento and i think he wanted to try something a little different to deep red, suspiria, tenebrae etc. so i suggest that if your local video rental store has this, go rent it. if a video store has this, buy it right that very second because it is extremely rare. one of the best movies i have ever seen from Dario Argento.

i think it's more of an artistic slant that Erik's ugliness and deformity is internal rather than external.
it's a basis on personality perception, because even someone we find physically good looking can be very shallow and ugly on the inside.

Let me guess, he doesn't end up with her =( I really actually like Erik disfigured, it's like a part of him. An Erik without his disfigurement is like a Christine without a good voice. Now I'm not saying that the movie itself is bad, it's just odd for me
