Is that the Buchanan tartan?? The band looked awesome, i like the idea of that style of shirt, with no.1 kilt/spats combination. Smart, minus the heat of the jackets

Maverz, I'm sorry but those chanters are not matched (just listen to those high As), the playing is not in unison (no matter what excuse you might make about a camera), the drones are not in tune despite what you say, and on the repeat of When the Battle's O'er more than half the pipers stopped playing. I'd say they made a good showing at the parade, but to call it brilliant?
Your support is appreciated- feel free to make a donation to the band - sykb dot com. Cash, Check or Charge is accepted along with R.T. Shepherd and Sons pipe chanters, whichever you prefer. In the meantime send us your adjudicating credentials.
I once had a friend who had a friend whose dad's mom's baker's uncle's best buddy went to a competition. Seriously (irrelevant credentials aside), why do you need a professional judge to tell you that you don't sound the best if it's true? I'm just supporting Bryce2012's contention that you need better tuning. Do you need my resume before that becomes valid?
First off, it's the 4th of July, they play 4 parades and it's hot. Even grade 1 bands won't sound great in those conditions. Second, the piper closest to the camera cuts out not "more than half." Third, there is no way to tell if the drones are off; you can barely hear them. Finally, that is their full band, most of them are not in their competition band.
No, no, and no. 1. It's hot? That's your compelling explanation for the sound quality? 2. Don't try and make it sound like the presentation in this video is something even Grade 1 bands contend with. 3. Barely audible doesn't mean perfect tuning. (The drones are out). 4. What does full versus competition group have to do with anything? I didn't make comments reserved only for a competitive group.
Anyone that has ever competed or just plays the pipes knows that weather is extremely important to sound quality, especially in extremes; rain, heat and cold will make the wooden chanter reed go off very quickly. Also, I didn't compare them to a grade 1 band. I said bad weather and a long day is hard for any band to deal with. Finally, I never said the drones were perfect, I said you can't tell because it's too hard to hear them.
Um - GoNavy - are you a piper? Cuz anybody who is will tell you that HOT and COLD spell disaster for tuning! You can start out perfectly tuned and within 30 minutes sound completely different. Full band vs competition? um...hello? A full band includes BEGINNERS who GET to play for parades but aren't yet ready for competiton?? does that make sense to you? c'mon, sherlock! stop bitching about things of which you apparently have no clue! even if you THINK you do, you don't! give it up!
Who said I'm bitching? Stop using CAPS LOCK and no-brainer piping facts to make your arguments. Of course I'm a piper and of course I know about tuning; how else would I know the terminology? I'm done with this discussion; you're an idiot.

Grade 3 here, those pipes are in tune, cameras aint designed to record pipes as they sound normally, especially if their walking right beside you.
