  • Thanks for the memories...great vid.

  • I'm with the snooze! I mean Eyewitness News!

  • Nice job

  • Proof why WABC is the class of New York.

  • 3:48. $1.50 a gallon of gas! I would love to pay that!!

  • @DBR00

well gas is going down so thats a good thing.

  • @DrSurprise Not here in Vegas! It's going up!

  • @DBR00

dang! are the prices to play the slot machines or prostitutes going up to? lol! ;)

  • @DrSurprise Yeah, cost of escorts is going up! The casinos actually have tons of slot machines that take pennies!

  • @DBR00

lol, seriously? i was only kidding. dang, so if i want to go to Vegas and have a night banging a woman, i need to shell out more money?

  • Love the clips but the singing track underneath is VERY annoying !

  • A great tribute to the one of the best TV stations in America!

  • Great montage! Awesome job! Well done!

  • I am from Long Island, but I've lived in Indiana for the last 17 years of my life. This brings back alot of great memories!

  • Gil Noble

  • Eye of the Tiger by Survivor! What an AWESOME track to go along with an EQUALLY AWESOME compilation.

  • @FutureNewsAnchor Yeeeeah!!!

  • At 0:28, that set exactly looks like KABC's set from the 70's into 1986.

  • AND DIEWITHUS NEWS

  • DIEWITNESS NEWS

  • Soon, the ABS-CBN TV Patrol's theme music News Series 2000 was used from August 16, 1993 to November 18, 2005 and a transition to the format as "TV Patrol World" with Eyewitness News and new set, graphics and open on November 21, 2005.

  • eyewitness news sucks! i either watch CBS 2 News or News 4 New York. maybe a glimpse of PIX 11 News but whatever happened to the epicness Eyewitness News once had? maybe if they brought back the theme song that starts at 4:55 then i'd watch! and if we get back alot of those great anchors, then i'd watch then as well.

  • cool compilation!

  • Thanks for posting. I'm a life long New Yorker and just love this!

  • STUPID !!

  • How did the music from Cool Hand Luke on WABC and othernews casts come about getting used ?Anyone know?

  • 1.50 for gas! noooooooooo!!!!

  • Sure beats $2.75/gallon, like here in Western NY today.

  • aahh... i remember all these guys with Grimsby and Beutel as the anchors and Rosanne Scarmedella and Storm Field

  • This is SO cool. reminds me of some good times at Eyewitness News. I miss my colleagues. Thanks for including me in your clip!

    Rolonda Watts

  • Also loved your v/o'ing in "Temptation" recently. So sad that game show's not on the air now.

  • This IS the news leader....channel 7 eyewitness news! Love how they say it with authority!!

  • @Lboy926

lol, theres CBS 2 News and News 4 New York. Eyewitness News isn't that great. it would still have been epic if they kept the theme song from the 80s that lasted until the early 90s

  • Lol I was referring to their 90's news theme actually.....Nowadays I like channel 2 better...

  • this is the news leader channel 7 eyewitness news

  • Stop making fun of how New Yorkers speak.

  • it sounds like there saying "im with the snooze"

  • Gregg Hurst, Roz Abrahms, Sam Champion, the best team ever!!!!

  • 4:38...that was fucked up!

  • Roger Grimsby RULED! I was watching the news one night when he introduced Howard Cosell by saying, "If words were birds, Howard, you'd be covered in white."

  • Yeah Grimsby ruled him and Bill Beutel were magic together

  • This is excellent -- this is the reason why YouTube was invented, to have a place to share all of these lovely clips from the past. It's incredible to reflect on the many many talented professionals that have served up the news for us, year after year after year.

God bless you for this! 6 out of 5 stars!

  • LMAO Billy Martin @0:17 "I never had a chance!" haha

  • Now listen to this . . .Great stuff!!!! Like Mick said at the 9/11 Memorial Concert: 'Don't f*&% with New York.' But I gotta question...where's Melba Tolliver? Or Milton Lewis??

  • Ms. Tolliver left WABC for WNBC-TV in 1976. She was, however, heard as a V/O at the end of an August 1970 edition of "EWN."

  • 2day, i wish gas was actually $1.50.

  • I LMAO when I came across the $1.50 for gas report.

  • What do U mean by that. and what does LMAO stand 4?

  • Laughed my ass off. This is a universal internet acrostic.

  • I ahev no idea what U R talking about.

  • Good old days, some of us would say.

  • what year was Hurricane Bonnie?

  • It was 1998. In August, if I'm not mistaken.

  • Check out 3:42 folks. . .$1.52 for a tank of gasoline! Those were the days, indeed!

  • Shep Berkon!

  • Back when news was actuall news and not "infotainment." When reporters and anchors knew about the beats they were covering and didn't just read words off a teleprompter. Damn, I miss those days....

  • Prior to 1977, It wasn't a snoozefest. These guys actually went out and did their own stories. Grimsby and Buetel were the best.

  • Thank you. I remember watching Eyewitness News in the '70s with my father. Happy memories. Will always love Channel 7!

  • Not bad, did you ever think of doing that to soulja boy?

  • I win the Snooze... ;)

  • I loved the Sunday Movie bumper before all of it!!!!

If you hear it enough times it starts sounding like "I With The Snooze" LOL

  • Hehe. I added the bumper so when you watch it you don't suddenly get bombarded with "Eyewitness News" over and over and over. :P

  • I also liked the extended EW theme at the very end.. the mid 80s package on WABC was always one of my favorites :)

  • Yeah I really like that one too.

  • WKBW in Buffalo would've been better served to join KTRK in Houston as they switched their theme music(MCTYW) to WABC's CHL score. All this montage... beau-tee-full! An example Buffalo would've been better served to emulate.

  • EXCELLENT VIDEO LOVED IT!!!!!!!

  • Diana Williams hasn't aged at all!

  • What a tribute.. to them all!

  • What a great Montage... Thanks for putting this together!

  • And thank you very much for watching it! ^_^

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I grew up watching Roger Grimsby and Bill Beutel. It brings back alot of memories of my father who adored them. I still watch Eyewitness news although it's not the same without those two. They were like the odd couple.

  • Ernie Anastos is now on Fox 5 news at 10.

  • I.I.N.M., the "EWN" V/O heard at 0:28-:29 was Bob Lloyd, a veteran ABC staffer whose announcing credits included "Dark Shadows" and the early years of "One Life to Live." He was the last "EWN" announcer of the Grimsby era, which ended about a month after the newscast in question which came from March of '86.

  • That set in the 5:03 part of the clip looks just like the one WLS-TV used in the 80's.

  • I love Eyewitness news... CBS is so conservative and NBC needs revamping.

  • I don't know if it's a coincidence, but hearing "Eye of the Tiger" on the track made me chuckle. Back when Cliff Abromats was WABC News Director in the early and mid-80s, he was VERY COMPETITIVE. He felt he was at war with the other stations. Many nights we'd adjourn across Columbus Avenue to "Chip's Pub," and he'd ask the bartender for a fistful of quarters to play "Eye of the Tiger" over and over again. "Eyewitness" had slipped to #2 when he arrived; it was #1 when he left.

  • You're right, tapthat2012. I've spoke to him and he loved the clips. He found out from tapthat2012 this morning. ;-)

  • NICE CLIPS. TVNM WOULD BE PROUD.

  • But Roz, where are you today? What are you doing today?

  • I remember when I would go to work at WABC-TV. Everyday I would be greeted at the door with the major stories, either by Robb Hanrahann or Bill Beutel. I loved Bill; he was my best friend where my job was concerned. Diana and I were good together (for a while). I am also surprised that someone was able to get that shot of me and Ernie from 1987.

Thank you for keeping my tenure alive through youtube.

Good Afternoon, everybody. I'm Roz Abrams.

  • The idiots at WCBS did a mistake by pushing you out of the noon and 5 news.

  • I miss Roz Abrams too. I hope her contract with CBS ends soon. Its been a year since she has been on television.

  • Where is Roz Abrams today?

  • Well I remember she left Eyewitness News around 2003. She then joined WCBS, but I'm not sure where she is now.

  • Okay, according to Wikipedia, she is currently still with WCBS, but she is right now sitting out her contract, just waiting for it to expire.

I wonder what she will do after that... I miss Roz... :(

  • With Ernie Anastos, Bill Beutel, Roz Abrams, Diana Williams, and all the other great talents that graced this terrific station over the last few decades, its no wonder it has remained number 1 for all these years. The curent team is good also.
