  • 6:13 end unit of the 1st 3 having engine problems

  • I worked in Cheyenne from July to October 2005, and spent a lot of time at the depot (Snake River Pub was a favorite hangout, with pizza and brewed-on-premises beer), the C&S overpass, and several locations on Sherman Hill. During that time, I also went to meetings of the local model RR club which met in the UP roundhouse, between 4-8-4 813 and DDA40X 6936 (or E9A 951, whichever was parked there at the time). Got a cook's tour of the steam shops, plus the cabs of 844, 3985, 6936, & the rotary.

  • @friscobob56 Cool. Yeah, I've been all through the steam shop as well. Cool place. Did you know that Lynn Nystrom passed away last Spring? He was one of the senior engineers there at the Steam Shop, & also a member of the model railroad club you mentioned.

  • @TrainHistorian Thanks! Glad you like this. More like it on my channel.

  • Cheyenne is a great place to watch trains

  • @ballpythonexpert77 Yes it is. I got sick of looking at trains for a few days though after I left there. LOL There was a train rolling through every 2-3 minutes in Cheyenne.

  • Union Pacific has a Truck/Camper? WOOOOWWW I want to see that one day!

  • @bnsf4 Yep. The Mini-loco is in there. I think it's either a replica of 844, or 3985. I don't remember which one though. They take it to all the big train shows. It's really cool too. An exact replica, & it even runs on steam, & has a tender also. Looking bak, I wish I took more pictures of it now... Thanks for watching!

  • I feel the same way as W4KSR. Too bad about the hood unit but under the circumstances...... And you already know how I feel about not preserving the past when we(or rather our parents/grandparents) had the opportunity - when the equipment was still around! The high horse units are nice but.... Miss the SD9's, ALCO S12's, the F7's......... And the steamers.

  • @ShastaPacificRoad Yes I know exactly what you mean. Thanks Robb.

  • Whats the song name at the begining of the vid?

    And good video!

  • @wasteom Thank you. Glad you like it!

I wish I knew. It's a file name called "Credits_11" on my computer. I bought a bunch of music clips for my videos, & this was one of the song files on there.

  • the first train that you have when I was there On July 11th 2009, the train had 2 engines, it left the 3rd engine was dropped off in North Platte, they had to add another though when they left Rawlins or Laramie. BTW very nice video, did you see DRGW 5371

  • Nice. No I missed that one. Too bad. I've got some great footage of the steam shops, & a tour with a SW1200 Cab ride switching out cars, & engines in the yard. I'll post it when I can.

  • great video man !!!!!!!

  • Thanks Austin!

  • Wow!!! I love the 1st train with the run-up, & smoke plume. Awesome video man! That 3rd train run by was really cool also. I'd give you 10 stars if I could. Nice job! Another awesome video.

  • Thanks man. I appreciate that.

  • HORSE POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Great video.

  • XD

    Thanks!

  • wow amazing vid!!! i especially love the train at 1:05 and when it kicks into notch 8.......long live emd!

  • Thanks man! Kinda caught me off guard when the engineer did that. LOL Amen to that.

  • Sad seeing that stripped out F Unit at the beginning.

  • It's not as bad as it looks. That Ex-CNW E8A is being used as a donor to keep their 3 E9's running. They also have an E9B Unit that will be getting rebuilt soon right behind it. All 3 have been re-engined with 645 Non turbo units in them. Thanks for the comment. I feel the same way about the old diesels, but sacrifices have to be made to keep some of them rolling.

  • Zach you always produce kick ass videos!! Once again great job!

  • Thanks Jimmy.

  • Great video 5*

  • Thanks. Much appreciated.

  • Wow, very cool, lots of power there, huh?

  • Thanks Dad. Yep. Lots of everything there. This was just a fraction of what was there. It was almost overwhelming. Cheyenne is a really neat place.

  • great shots and i have grandparents that live outside of cheyenne 10*

  • Thanks! Glad you like this video. I'll be uploading the rest of the Cheyenne videos over the next few weeks. This is just a taste of what's to come. :D
