Great job knowing the song, and playing. You definitely have the strength to play where it's needed yet some areas are to faced pace. I got a couple of SRV videos and their just a little more laid back in some areas, where SRV body english is really into it. Great props for owning your guitar playing though. You did great.
Whoever gave you 21 thumbs down are idiots. SRV never played a single song the same way, and if he did then I would shit my pants. This guy has got the right idea people. And who really gives tow fucks if this wasn't a SRV song, Buddy guy sure in the couldn't keep up to SRV.
It's not Stevie songs!!!!!..... MAN you don't RUN if you don't can WALK plis!!!...You play fast notes for not notice your mistakes...Stevie play more slow
I am picky as hell, but i have no idea what the other kids are talking about. It was played perfect, havent seen btr besides from buddy and srv themselves.
you ppl gotta remember, hes doing this without a backing track or a band or anything
thats one of stevies really fast licks, and the thing to do is play it really slow, because his fast licks tend to have odd phrasing, so work on that and youll find yourself progressing quickly through it. and of course practice practice haha.
dude u have stevie's tone pretty close on this one and wat kinda guitar is that because i dont think it's a strat the inlay and the head stock and i think even the pickups are different
You got a lot of nerve posting this crap you hack! AHAHA just kidding Dude... that freakin ROCKED!! Great tone and amazing fingure control!! I just love You tube cause no matter how awesome you are there's always one freakin ahole putting you down (20first...) and it's usually somebody with no videos uploaded! You need to do tutorials!
wow, dude . . . . you've got some talent there, as Stevie was the one who carried it on from Jimi, who is going to be the next person to carry it on from Stevie?
srv was the greatest white blues god of all time,in my book. Not only his style but the way he could pull you into the song. You can do it,you have the ability. But slow down for the real feeling.I'm not ragin on you man.I wish I had your problems.amazin
ridiculous. i just started learning this song today and i cant find any you tube videos that are like "how too play..." you should post a tutorial thing
I don't really practice blues stuff much more, I'll just play around for maybe 10-45min a day. I try to look at tough jazz charts at least 15 min a day though, but I rarely do. I'm trying to do more of that.
Wow thats good! I play for atleast 2 hours a day and im NO WHERE near what you pulled off...that was good crazy! Ive only been playing for 2 years and no one around me knows how to teach country. I LOVE classic rock and rock but i love country more....thanks for this awesome exciment

Cool man.You rock...I also agree on what you said...It trully needs a lot of listening and just a lot of practising and adventully it should come to you (if you have a good ear) to hear those even little things....
can you give me a hint, how i can play those fast licks as fast as you and stevie? i mean i play the guitar for like 15 years and still... i lack some speed and i do not know exactly how i should get it.
for the most part of the 15 years i played rhythm guitar and lately i get more and more into this kind of blues licks of SRV.
have you any hint for me? i mean you are great in this!
you need to learn alternate picking. it's the best technique for any kind of speed on guitar. up down up down. then everything will come a lot easier.
You just have to play a lot. I play all the time. While watching TV, Playing computer, ect. You just have to try to copy stuff, and play it a lot. and after copying stuff, you eventually branch off into your own stuff. Its the same thing that Stevie did with Hendrix. He copied all his licks, then it formed his own.
i see lots of nice comments, and am not surprised to see allusions to negative ones as well. imho, anyone who says this is missing anything's got their heads up their arses. i think this was great, dude. $.02
Its always the same with EVERY homemade music video posted on YouTube. Theres always some would-be virtuoso criticizing someones effort. 'It was too this', 'It was too that' 'I was playing better than you after only 2 years' etc. etc.

Probably not the first nor the last to say this, but you played way too fast.. I liked the sound and you played it VERY good. Other than the fact that the song is played slower, playing slower also gives the notes you play more "power", and in musical terms I believe it's called "Staccato".
Other than that, keep playing. I wish I liked to play my guitar as much as I like music, but some things can't change tho I'll continue playing, only not too often.
anywho, good stuff. good playing, nice smooth tone but like i said in the other video, seems like you are trying to impress here. im not saying theres no soul but it seems like you were trying to impress....well it does just so you know lol.
I'm a good funk player so I am used to lining up my right hand, but for some reason this song is giving me trouble. I just can't seem to find the pocket. Thanks again
Slow it down a little and put some real feeling into it and you've got something. You know what I mean? Really feel each phrase, each nuance, each note as if it was the last one you were ever going to play. As it stands now, you're a guy with lots of potential pounding out a lot of copy-cat notes with little rhythm and no feeling. Trust me, I've taught guitar for over 30 years and if I told you who I've played with you wouldn't believe me.
I think it's absolutely great but there's no need to play it that fast(you tend to demonstrate your skills too much, put the music first^^) ! Anyway awesome job man !!
I totally agree with this man. Speed isn't everything and can jeapordize a song. Unless you're malmsteen, then you just rock harderer than anyone. Ever.
Aside that, nice playing. But a bit to fast for it to sound any good.
and as for the fast playing, there is only me here. There is no band for me to leave space for, I gota/get to fill it all up. This was ment to portray my talent and licks too.
Dude!, you are obviously gifted, but what does your practice routine consist of? Do you do exercises, ear training, scales, or just mainly work on studying songs-or a little of everything. How long do you practice each day? I wish I had your hands- I'm, 29 and I have the hands of a 12 year old girl. I've had tendinitis for the last 3 years so I can't consitently practice every day. I am just now starting to get interested in getting the blues down (mainly a funk/rock player).
I just play a LOT. Its as simple as that. You get out of it what you put into it. Im sure you have heard that before, but its the truth. As for what I play? I learn theroy, (which I call work) and I doodle and play along with CDs (which I call play) I "Play" a LOT. I listen to a LOT of blues though. Whatever style you are trying to learn, listen to it. It really helps your playing somehow. Mainly SRV, but a lota Albert King, B.B. King, Boddy Guy, and a million others too.
I have 3 guitars, so it varies greatly. But on my Fender Strat there, I have 0.11-0.56. NIce heavy strings give you a fat, heavy sound, very good for SRV.
The ones that came with it! (Just your basic Fender Strat pickups.) The tone is great because of the Line 6 Pod in the back. Man, those things are unbeleaveable!!!
Great playing

King, Boddy Guy, and a million others too.

yo sup i was just wondering what gauge of strings u use.

I have 3 guitars, so it varies greatly. But on my Fender Strat there, I have 0.11-0.56. NIce heavy strings give you a fat, heavy sound, very good for SRV.

Man, your Stuff is really great!
Do you tell me, what Pickups you use in your Strat?
Fibson86 4 years ago
The ones that came with it! (Just your basic Fender Strat pickups.) The tone is great because of the Line 6 Pod in the back. Man, those things are unbeleaveable!!!
