I spoke (email chain) years ago to a NYPD officer who knew this very talented man. Veracity of info on the web being always in question this person said that he died penniless, and was unable to make it above and beyond this song and this movie. It is truly a loss for us, but the kingdom of heaven is heavy one more great soul. Justice will greet him there... possibly for the first time. RIP and thank you for this gift.

Don't get me wrong because both are excellent but the movie scene is more powerful than the end studio version to me because of the raw power of the human voice and the piano..the chorus actually sounds great too..I think that this was one of those special moments in time where the Holy Ghost anointed the room knowing that this scene would touch a lot of people..you get the feeling that the actors knew they were witnessing something special at that moment too..anyway thanks for posting this.

When I was a youngster, my father took me to see the film "Cadence" at a local run-down theater. The scene of you singing and playing the piano uplifted my spirit. It continues to remain with me now. Every time I hear it, the hairs on my arms stand on end. Such sweet musical beauty!

I'm sad to say that George Carlin no longer requires proof. He has all the proof he needs as he waits in Hades, in chains, for the dreaded Judgment Day when he, along with all the other unrepentant, unbelieving ones, will be judged and found guilty by a perfectly Holy and Righteous God. They will be thrown into the lake of fire as God pours out His justice and wrath upon them for eternity.

There have been a lot of false Christians over the past 2000 years, but there have always been a small handful who have truly followed Jesus. I am one of them.
And, btw, suicide (jihad) is not found in Christianity.
So what then? Jesus, the Son of God came, sent by God, empowered by God, lived a sinless and spotless life, showed us the loving and merciful side of God, and taught us many things. He was embraced by some, but hated by most because he pointedly revealed their sinful wicked hearts and intentions. Even though he had done nothing wrong, Jesus was crucified, according to God's plan, crushed by the full wrath of God, in OUR PLACE, in order to reconcile to God those who would turn to Him and believe.
Scripture says that our best works are just like filthy garments to God. All have offended God, and God is perfect and holy and righteous and cannot tolerate sin. His character and nature reject it while we embrace it. All have broken His laws - His righteous standards. We can have no hope in ourselves. Very scary thought if you're simply hoping in yourself...
Finally, it sounds like Harry is desperately searching for redemption and acceptance by God, but isn't sure how to find it. The Bible is clear about salvation:
So many people, like Harry and some of you, are hoping to be good enough and sinless enough, but that's a thin hair on which to swing out into eternity. The Bible says that everyone has sinned and fallen very short of God's glory. Nobody is good enough to escape His judgment based on "good works", or "being good enough", etc.

Don't get me wrong because both are excellent but the movie scene is more powerful than the end studio version to me because of the raw power of the human voice and the piano..the chorus actually sounds great too..I think that this was one of those special moments in time where the Holy Ghost anointed the room knowing that this scene would touch a lot of people..you get the feeling that the actors knew they were witnessing something special at that moment too..anyway thanks for posting this.

Mr. Stewart, I first heard your song at a very young age.
When I was a youngster, my father took me to see the film "Cadence" at a local run-down theater. The scene of you singing and playing the piano uplifted my spirit. It continues to remain with me now. Every time I hear it, the hairs on my arms stand on end. Such sweet musical beauty!

See, God poured out His wrath and justice against sin upon Jesus (who was perfect) while he hung on the cross. In that way, God's justice was satisifed, which, in turn, made a way for us to be saved from God's wrath - if we only turn to Him and believe. Salvation is a free gift. You just need to recieve it. It has nothing to do with good works or earning our way to heaven. We cannot.

You are so right. Everyone has broken God's laws, and probably so many times you cannot count them all. We are all guilty in God's eyes and are worthy of hell - that is how perfect and righteous and holy that God is. But we have forgiveness through Jesus, God's son, who was sacrificed on the cross to pay the penalty of those who repent and believe. Those who turn from their sins and place their trust in Christ will NOT go to hell. They will be forgiven.

Religion is fading? Many more people are turning to religion now than even before. Many of words you choose to express yourself are full of hate and confrontational. The Bible has NEVER been proven wrong, especially as a historical document. Many of the discoveries in the middle east of long forgotten places are reported in the Bible confirming it's accuracy. Science (archaeology) backs it up. Einstein and many other scientist believe(d) in Intelligent design (GOD).

Not only did Jesus say not to murder, he said that hatred was the SAME as murder. If you've ever hated someone, then you've commited murder in your heart. There have been a lot of false Christians over the past 2000 years, but there have always been a small handful who have truly followed Jesus. I am one of them.

So many people, like Harry and some of you, are hoping to be good enough and sinless enough, but that's a thin hair on which to swing out into eternity. The Bible says that everyone has sinned and fallen very short of God's glory. Nobody is good enough to escape His judgment based on "good works", or "being good enough", etc.
