You are comparing machines with at least 2 year age difference. Not to mention different bus / ram speeds. (12'inch bus is @ 133 mhz, the intel is at least 533mhz, maybe 667) In fact the 12 did quite well considering it's specs.
@marracotube Your comment "proofs" that you don't have any good spelling or grammar habbits. Also, Macs and Pc's are the same in terms of raw hardware.
@Chintendoeddman Of course. I don't speak English at all. But macs are ever outdated, with old, and low performing hardware. PCs are the only capable of holding state of the art hardware.
There is not even a single mac running over 2000 mhz ram. You can't control timings. Can't have the last video card running triple SLI/crossfire. No mac has the best SSD available, and if you replace it you go out of guarantee.
... and most mac users don't even understand anything I wrote.
@marracotube Oh I didn't know that? Oh well, I have a Powerbook G4 myself and I thought I knew a good deal about it. The only "non - PC" part in the Power PC macs are the processors (You can't run Windows on a PPC mac natively). But I guess I didn't know that. It has DDR ram, ATI graphics ( some of the 12" models had Nvidia), a standard laptop hard drive ( I don't remember the size). They can all be found in non-apple pc's. the only other difference is the OS ( excluding hackintosh's).
So, the Power PC prosessor was inferior to Intel ones despite all the years of Apple brainwashing.
The most important component after the processor is the motherboard, which before the switch to Intel was non PC hardware. His chipset was NOT PC chipset. So, it does not matter if macs had the same hard disk than PCs. It did not worked at the same performance level than intel chipsets. It was a low performance drive to start.
I would not say that the startup speeds are solely due to the fact that one has a more advanced processor than the other.
You've also got to consider the fact that the MacBook Pro uses Serial ATA while the PowerBook uses Ultra ATA. The hard drive will stream data I/O faster in the MacBook over the PowerBook.
"OMG old technology lost to the new model??!? i dont think that has ever happened before in the history of the world...especially when it comes to computers! thanks for this bit of information..it will come in handy..i almost bought an old model instead of the current one.... "
You are incredibly stupid to actually think that the older model would win...

Umm... I never said, nor did I say, that I thought the old one would win. In fact, I wanted to see exactly how much faster the new model was from the old one. I apologize to you for wanting to post an video showing how much better the new MacBook Pro is from the older PowerBook. I will refrain from making comparisons of products or services in the future. Cheers.
Do you have a Macbook too? If you have, could compared Macbook Pro (Core2Duo) and Macbook startups? It would be nice to see how fast this new Macbook Pro (C2D) is compared by Macbook. My friend have a Macbook (Core Duo) and now (at last) I'm going to buy this new Macbook Pro. It would be great to see how big differens there are between Macbook Pro and Macbook. Thanks for this video anyway and sorry my bad English =/
Hi there. Sorry, I don't have access to a MacBook. I would image though that the MacBook Pro will be at least slightly faster than the MacBook. The newer macbooks have the core2 duo as well, so, they would be similar. Ram and hard disk speed are probably some of the more important specs that determine startup speed. Thanks for commenting, and good luck with your new Mac! It's a beautiful machine.
White balance is fucked up on this video.

@Chintendoeddman "The only "non - PC" part in the Power PC macs are the processors". WRONG!!!. You have no idea.
And having ATI/nVidia does not mean having the best GPUs. Only the crappiest and cheaper.

@marracotube Now you are shoving words in my mouth. Arguing with you is like yelling at a brick wall.

Yes, sure, the boot time is the main feature of ANY notebook! That's why Apple is great!
People, are you out of your mind? Get up and forget about that foolish Apple!

AMD is better but there's no need to be like that about it.

I've noticed in MANY videos, even the faster G4's & G5's take a while to show the Apple Logo.

Geek definitely. But not a nerd. You, on the other hand, are most definitely a loser. No offence.

Another consideration: system bus speed.
