  • wow your brilliant! My daughter will love this lesson when I show her. She just started piano lessons but the guy doing them is giving her way too much too start with and now she's not enjoying it. Delighted I found this. A massive thank you from me Joseph :)

  • @sabougigel ima teen

  • Thank you so much my music grade was one of the lowest in my class but thanks to your videos I was able to make top of the class THANK YOU!

  • I'm 13 and I'm so glad that I finally found a teacher that understands that he has to explain things!!! Where have you been all my life? <3

    P.S I love the song!!!

  • Thank you so much for uploading. I am going to start leaning how to play so i can teach my 3 years old boy :-)

  • Thank you for your great tutorial!

  • I need some help, is a digital piano recommended for a beginner, only 6 years old?

  • Mr. Hoffman I would like to buy for my daughter a keyboard controller, which I'am also planning to use it as DAW controller as well.

There are 61, 76 and 88 keys model. Which one best suit your learning material? do I have to buy 88 keys? It's the most expensive though. Thank you and have a great day

  • @fauzip If your child continues learning you'll have to buy a 88 key eventually. Its needed for certain pieces.

Also the weight of the keys is very important for their finger technique. If they play in a non weighted keyboard (usually only keyboards with 88keys have heavy keys), they wont be able to play in a real piano, or at least they wont be confortable in it.

    Good luck!

  • Thank you for these videos! I've just subscribed.

  • I'm going to start learning how to play the piano soon. I'm glad I at least know a little bit about the piano now. :)

  • Thx Doc

  • he so amazing ^^

  • well small hands affect the way you play and will it stop you from playing harder music?

  • @stormshadow932 My piano teacher when I was in high school had small hands, and he was one of the most amazing pianists I've ever worked with. Small hands will make certain advanced pieces more tricky, but it won't stop you from become a fantastic pianist if you are willing to work hard. I hope you keep playing! Thanks for watching!

  • bad camera guy/gal but good tutorial on learning first song

  • Absolately Brilliant Sir!!

  • Did you are a teacher in Yamaha! Hot cross buns is from the Primary book ^^

But I'm thrilled to learn piano!

I learned the chords and everything but just not the notes/symbols!!

    PLEASE HELP ME!!

  • @BumKpopluv76 lol I'm 24 and definitley shouldn't be here but we all have to start somewhere! What about the notes/symbols didn't you understand?

  • what do you think of the Casio PX-100 Privia 88-Key Digital Piano

  • @PorygonFTW I own several Casio Privias at my Academy, and they have all been great instruments for us. I think you will like it!

  • Thank You So Much ! Your lesson was really easy and caught on in know time ! :)

  • My goodness... this is awesome!! Thank you so very much! I have a Yamaha P85 & my 7 year old & 4 year old have just started with your lessons... truly an incredible gift to society by placing your knowledge up for us to use like this for free. My beautiful daughter has a severe hearing loss and going through the cochlear implant process, she adores hearing her notes play on the piano, and now i can do more than just let them press keys at random! Thank you so much for your imparted skills!

  • Hi Mr. Hoffman my daughter recieved a piano for her 4th birthday a few weeks ago, she has been so excited to learn to play, thanks to you she knows her first song. You are great musician and a wonderful teacher.

  • Hi I am nine years old and my name is anahi and I want to learn how to use a piano.

  • hahahah this is coplkated

  • I thought it was funny when he said " I'm happy to be your piano teacher today."

    He said it weird.

  • I just want to say THANK YOU!! You are the best teacher!

  • Thanks for your video!!! I took piano lessons over 20 years ago and I never pursued it like I should have. Now I am inspired to begin trying to play. Your video is so welcoming and personable. I will be looking at your channel often. Thanks for sharing so willingly!!! God bless!!!!!!

  • Find it interesting to watch a teacher starts off the video with a Jazzy piece and then get into a simple tune like "Mary Had a L L" or "Twinkle L S" or whatever using just 3 fingers on the right. And teaching someone to play a simple piece with such enthusiasm is great!

Hot Cross Bun wasn't my 1st piece. Always fascinated how you can get from playing with 3 fingers to a complex arrangement with both hands. My sister and I both took lessons around 5. She never made it. I continued years later.

  • hi im 9 and my name is basma i really want to learn piano does this work with a small keyboard?

  • @767gloria

I started playing about 10 years ago with a 61-key Yamaha. At the time a 49-key model was much cheaper. Last year upgraded to a 76. When playing easy songs you will not have problem with a small keyboard. After a while you will find anything less than 61 not practical. The more keys the more songs you can play.

The # of keys is a problem than size (length & width). Better to get ones with standard size keys since you will be on a regular piano (acoustic or electric) later on.

  • I got a keyboard with 54 keys, can I use this with this to?

  • My 7yr.old daughter started playing piano and "HOT CROSS BUNS" was one of the first songs they taught her!!! LUV IT!!!...YOU ARE AN AWESOME TEACHER & I THANK YOU for sharing your talent! BTW(BY THE WAY) my daughter is using a keyboard also where can I find a digital piano with "weighted keys" and what is the price range? THANKS!

  • @dweakley1 I'm glad you enjoyed the lesson! If you want a great digital piano with 88 weighted keys, for a reasonable price, I highly recommend the Casio Privia line. Any model would be fine, although I recommend that you also buy the stand for it.

  • @dweakley1 your daughter couldn't play the piano to save her life from a chainsaw mainiace

  • :D im really glad you put up these lessons, theyre great !

  • YOU are the best teacher ever!!! (:

  • this really helped thanks(:

  • hi there you are doing an excellent job, as a new piano teacher is it okay if i use some of your ideas in my own lessons?

  • @fuzzyfishbones Absolutely! Please feel free to use these ideas in your own teaching.

  • Thank you soo much

  • He is the best player ever

  • what was the song that you played at 1:07 ? .. i really wanna learn it! xD

  • Thanks alot now me and my son can get to know the keyboard!!!

  • Hi,

I would TOTALLY love to get a piano but I don't know which one to get or the price and would I have to enroll in piano classes?

  • hey im using a keyboard would that work too?

  • @TheClubpenguinrulez Hi! A keyboard is fine for starting out, but I would recommend getting a digital piano with "weighted keys" as soon as possible, if you want to develop your playing ability to the maximum. Keyboards usually have a spring action which is so light, that your fingers won't develop enough strength to play well on a real acoustic piano. I hope you continue to enjoy the lessons!

  • @PianoLessonsForKids thanks i'll try and get one

  • @TheClubpenguinrulez

I was looking for piano teacher contact numbers until i stumbled upon your youtube lessons (not so good for them lol !!) Isn't technology great?! Thank you for taking the time to do these lessons. You were definitely born to teach! You explain everything in lamens terms and in an engaging way. I sat with my 4 y/o did the first four lessons and you had her laughing. Will be teaching my 6 year old also. Thanks again.

  • Thank you. Your teaching style is easy for a beginner (40 year old) like me.

  • Your so nice! Such humans like you are hard to find. Nowadays all people care about is money and profit and gain and people are so self centred. Its so nice that you're giving free "online" piano lessons where no one needs to go any where and can learn to play a piano just by sitting there at a place!

  • You are brilliant! You were born to teach!

  • thnxxxxx

  • Your gift to the world is well taken, your a marvel mr.Hoffmen

  • Are you going to put your site back up soon? I just tried going there, and it appears to be down.. Thanks
