Yup that's true; someone like Fischer can get away with it! I believe he only lost one game with it - in 1972 against Spassky at the WCC. There were teams of Russians working on his openings and they came up with a novelty that he couldn't solve OTB. Still, as you say, a great record with it. In actual fact Fischer won 60% of his games with black playing the Sicilian, a stunning statistic.
There is also a great miniature by Jan timman with the black pieces against Boris Rytov in 1973 @ the Tallin. With a great rook sac in the Nimzo-indian leading to a 24 move defeat for Boris Rytov. Cool vid btw.
You say don't take the pawn in this variation? I thrive on them! (And so do thousands of other players playing black in this variation . . . . .)

I love Fischer. He goes for a win even with black. Unlike Karpov who is satisfied with just draws with it.
