  • My service dog's breed is a W O R K I N G D O G!! They love their jobs and get kinda antsy if they aren't working. My service dog gets to have a great life and I've had him since he was nine weeks old. He does get to be a regular dog. Some ppl don't know what the hell they are talking about!!

  • Inspirational. I have a friend that trains service dogs. Nice job!

thanks! Nick inventor of the limited mobility exerciser the kefty portable home gym.

  • feel bad for those 4 ppl who disliked it......really??????

  • @pnull service dogs enjoy their work... Even my dog who has an extremely difficult job as a psychiatric service dog. If I were a dog, I'd be bored of just laying around all day... Service dogs get plenty of love and attention.

  • Aww. I want to train a service dog!

  • Man 4 people doesn't have any manner.. F*ck them!

  • @pun

  • Nice video!

  • Thank you for the great video!!

  • Check out the video, "Puppies Trained to Help Children with Special Needs" on the Project2Heal channel. It is an amazing story for a great cause!

  • Call the Paralysis Resource Center. They will be able to help you out: 800-539-7309

  • I really need one!!!

I am on the power wheelchair and I live in Seattle, so if can anyone help me to get one!!!

    I really need my friend!!!

    Thanks!!!

  • Don't take this the wrong way. Although I believe service dogs do good work, the dogs themselves don't have good lives. They bond with a family in their first year of life...only to be taken away. Then for the rest of their lives, they work..and work..and work. They never get a chance to be a dog...to run and play. A service dog does good work...but at what expense? Nobody thinks about the dogs themselves.

  • @pnull well I dont know what your experience is on this matter, whether you are commenting on experience or just what you think might be. Service dogs are trained using positive reinforcement and actually want to work to earn the treats. Many pet dogs that dont "work" in some way physically and mentally, even if its obedience / playing games, develop behavioural problems , Dogs are intelligent and resourceful and hard wired to be active . They do definately get time off every day !!!

  • @pnull but most of the time the dogs see their work as a game or sport of sorts. most dog breeds were originally bred to work, and those breeds enjoy it immensely. they are often less happy leading a life of a few play dates a week in a normal family home, then they are doing work every single day. after all, it's what they were designed to do. and not all of them are institution trained. I took a shelter mutt and trained him as a service dog for an elderly gentleman that was physically impaired

  • Hi,. You have a service dog because of a physical handicap. How do you get a service dog if you can walk but have a mental handicap or challenge or some sort?

  • Labs and Goldens are the best dogs in the world

  • This may sound insensitive or odd, though it may also be asked a lot: Is it possible for anyone to adopt/buy one of these specially bred dogs?

  • @mebe They are in high demand, so it would not be an adoption. I'll bet you could buy one.

  • @CRFoundation Who the fuck picks up a guide dogs shit?

  • @mebe people have successfully rescued dogs from shelters and owner trained them to be service dogs. So yes, in some cases it is possible. But you have to be knowledgeable with dog training if you plan to owner train. You also don't know what you are getting (temperament wise) when it comes to shelter pups, so I'd advise anyone planning to owner train a rescue, bring a service dog trainer/evaluator along with them to select a potential candidate.

  • thanks

  • i have these assholes in my building who want to kick me out for having a dog....

does anybody know of any laws that state that having dogs is not allowed?...i truly have mental issues without it....can they kick me out or can i say something/do something...?

    thanks!

  • @sparklerbombg You should call our Paralysis Resource Center. They will need to know your state of residence and if the dog is an official service dog. 800-539-7309

Talk to an Information Specialist (Mon.-Fri., 9 am to 6 pm ET.

  • @sparklerbombg IDK where you live, but I have a friend here in my state (Kentucky) who trains service dogs, and she says if your dog is a registered service dog then there is no legal way your landlord can make you get rid of it. However if you cannot get it registered your landlord/rental manager (I'm assuming you live in some sort of complex) can tell you either the dog has to go, with or without you going with it. But it would be up to the landlord and not some jerk neighbors.

  • Service Dogs are the best "people" you could ever hope to meet!

  • I have a condition in which I easily blackout(several times a day) and faint(and thus can crack my head open ect.) due to very low blood pressure and am currently trying to train my dog to bark for help if I faint and pass-out and can't call for help, or help steady me if I begin to faint. A doctor recommended it and I have a dog(golden/border collie mix) that is trained in obedience and well socialized but the doctor didn't know of any trainers that did this type of training. Any tips?

  • @imanerd36 We have a fact sheet on that called Service Dogs.

  • We have a fact sheet on that called Service Dogs. Go to paralysis org, click on Fact Sheets A-Z.

  • @imanerd36 It's at paralysis org. Click on Fact Sheets A-Z.

  • @imanerd36 is this a dysautonomia? i'm also going to get a service dog for my fainting but my good friend trains them, so we will most likely adopt from a shelter then train

  • Great video

  • Very good

  • Not that I wouldn't agree, but first of al, you need an inteligent trainer. A dog can never be better then its trainer. How ever, it is good to start at some point, and trainers are needed. So you need ppl who dedicate their life to train these dogs. Its prety much giving up the "normal" life. I know what I am talking about. I just thought about train dogs to be servic e dogs. We used to train dogs for the farm-business and crisis situations, now I would like to train service dogs in Germany.

  • @kevke2001 hmmm not to be contradictory but there are several cases of dogs exceeding their training. I don't think they are limited by their trainer in the least. That said I think EVERYONE should train their dog. And a bare minimum do a puppy socialization basic obedience class..

  • great video

  • dogs are great- hope I shoot my show there sometime.

  • Wow Dogs are Amazing! a truly gift from God

  • There are groups like Texas Hearing Dogs that ONLY utilizes rescued dogs as therapy dogs. There is no need to have to breed dogs, if you have people in shelters testing dogs for temperament and ability to be a service dog.

  • I am getting a canine computers for independence done in a few months I hope these programs a wonderful and I can not wait for my dog I have cerebral palsy

  • i have cp too!!!!!!!!!!! i wanna get a service dog too

  • i have epilepsy and blind in one eye I wonder if I can get a service dog and where?

  • Well you can always just train it your self or you can look up things like 4 paws for ability and Service dogs international and just look up service dogs. you should be able to find one that way.

  • My brother Bram has an issue and he has one of these dogs. He opens the fridge and gets my brother a soda! Its difficult to train these dogs. You have to really know what your doing! You can't just search it online and train a dog yourself. Like I said before, you need a smart dog, and you need to know what your doing!!!!! You can't search online how to teach a dog to do practically everything!

  • I train service dogs as a hobby, and donate them to people who need them, i bought a golden retriever puppy a month ago he is now 6 months and he is doing good with the training however he will be ready and fully trained in another 6 months..... just let me know what kind of things you would like the dog to do for you.... and i can donate it to you, all you would have to pay is the shipping depending on where you live i live in california

  • "these service dogs are greedy

they do this for meat and food "

What difference does that make. We humans do it for money.

  • found this vid and I LOVED THE DESCRIPTION !! for once someone used the correct way to describe both the people and the doggies

this is a cause I so adore !!

  • awh; the lil puppy can read the sign that says sit. thats so freakin adorable. i love dogs.

  • I wonder why do they use only labrador retriever when for ex. german shepard and doberman love to work, are extremly loyal to owner and can protect also.I know they could be great service dogs too.

  • i think it is because a lot of people still believe stereotypes about dog breeds, and see labs as the most people friendly of breeds, which is not always true depending on how the dog as raised. any breed can be trained for this kind of work, i have seen german shepherds, corgis, and even pitbulls trained as assistance dogs:)

  • i have even seen chihuahuas, and bull mastiffs as service dogs

  • German Shepherd, Dobermann and Rottweiler could also be used as Service Dogs. The pedigree has to be very very carefully chosen since working breeds GSD, Dobermann & Rottweiler have higher work drives that the sporting breeds like Labrador, Golden Retriever etc.

But I agree that is possible.

  • In fact, I forgot to mention, my friend in upstate NY has 2 Pitbulls--both the Pitbulls have excellent temperament and meet little children regularly. They are certified service dogs. Any dog, if they have the correct genes from parents, can be a service dog.

  • Public perception of dobies and shepherds; along with rotties. They can be wonderful service dogs; unfortunately they have a "reputation" . Labs are much more welcome in community settings.

  • border collies are too

  • @amazonAndy Service dogs are absolutely NOT allowed to protect. They must be 100% nuetral with people, children and other dogs. If the handler is hurt or needs help the dog must allow people to help them. They are never allowed to show any aggression in public!

  • i love this! i have a service dog and people just dont understand!

  • I agree dogs > humans. My dog humbles me all the time.

  • I wish people learned from these little fellows.

  • What an excellent video - neat to see the history as well. All these dogs are so lovely and of such great value. Bravo to all the people who work to help to train these wonderful assistants! ;-)

We've added you to our favorites!

  • please review my brief demo of the Easy-Care Pet Feeder, which makes is easier to feed your service dogs and companion animals.

  • dogs are the greatest creatures on earth. Yes, even better than humans.

  • very glad that all these people can live their lives normally and that one girl's story that has Muscular Dystrophy really speaks to me because i have it and this is a very nice video!

  • Simply beautiful, brought tears to the eyes

  • This was such an excellent video! I actually started to tear up when i was watching it, because i'm currently puppy raising a 6 month old puppy from a Kansas Service Dog service! It's so nice to see what my puppy is going to do when she gets older!

  • This video is the introduction one which shows the role of the

assistance dog concretely and is splendid one.

I hope this video enlighten upon the role of the assistance dog in society.
