@600SELV12 Actually no, they didn't. Popular Mechanics, April? 1976 article stated they had the stunt driver Ollie Andersson do this repeatedly until they were sure it was right. Then on the last take, he purposely rolls it onto the roof. Ace and Gibson (Gary Busey) aren't SUPPOSED to make it to the end; it's part of the script. Note also that those tires are different than the rest of the film.
Ever notice the camero, that's supposed to have a 4 speed transmission,all of a sudden turnes into a automatic during the two wheeled stunt?if you look closely,you can see the wide transmission pan underneath before it turns over on it's roof.More hollywood illusion.Still a great movie though.
Heh. I think might be where they got the idea for the transforming-two-wheeling part in Transformers where Bumblebee (1976 Camaro) transforms into a 2009.

That's one of my favorite moments in the film, Gary Busey made this movie in my opinion.
