While this is interesting, and I agree the pythons are a problem. I think the panthers are the least of your worries. I would think birds and small mamals would be the species most in danger. Im sorry I just dont see a snake that size killing a panther. Maybe in burma they have killed a leapord, but it was probably a freak act of nature, or the leapord was sick and almost dead. Plus with the colder winters I dont see the snakes getting big enough to take out big cats/ fauna. They're a problem j
If the Burmese Python is a threat to Florida's endangered species, is there someone out there, an organization, that can either kill off the pythons or at least capture and return them back to Burma or wherever they came from? Watching this video makes me want to avoid visiting Florida more and more. Also, I wish it was against the law for people to own large snakes as pets. Little snakes that don't grow beyond 18-24 inches is fine... I guess. But larger than that is terrifying.
Obviously setup with a tame python tipped out on the ground with a tame cat. You would expect a wild python to be highly defensive if approached by a large cat.
Regardless of setup, good footage and interesting commentary.
The python is an invasive species, and the panther is an endangered species. Both in my backyard by the way. If you have the means to kill a python and save a panther, you take it. It's irresponsible to sit back and let it happen for the sake of a useless three minute video. Your park ranger answer is a weak at best, and quite frankly, you would not be exhibiting any scientific integrity by letting a tragedy occur.
@Zlevitt555 Your comment is besides the point of my video work on invasive species and its resulting problems to the environment. Also, any decent scientific work is based on its precise analytical approach and not your lack of observation and emotional outbursts...
Sorry Pal, only baby puma and mountain lions are at risk, ive seen jaguars kill anacondas and pythons. Adults atleast. Cats are way too fast and agile
@floridajaguar Obviously you've never had or witnessed an agressive constrictor in the wild. Large cats, such as lions and leopards are capable to kill adult pythons but that doesn't mean the very same can happen vis versa...
This python a danger for the panther? I dont think so...there are no films of big snakes killing cats, even panthers, that are smaller than jaguars, tigers or lions.
Although the snake can't show very much emotion, it appears to be saying: "Hehe, Ahhhh stop it, that tickles." 10 seconds go by... "C'mon maaannnn stop it. It tickles, I get it." 10 more seconds go by.. *Slowly turns around* "Okay. Stop, I mean it." 10 more seconds.. "Dude. Enough. OW! That hurt!" *Panther runs away* " -__- Finally."
if you were there, watching them, why didn't you stop the python? if the panther is in trouble, why didn't you just make it run away from the python? i would, if i could...
@TheDryDragon what if they weren't there?? It's basically the way they have to respond. As if they aren't there... sad I know if one animal is harmed, but that is nature. That happens all the time. Its just hard for some of us to actually see it.
@TheDryDragon Why would you interfere? You think you're helping the panther, but by helping the panther you're letting a python go hungry. And what would most likely happen is neither would show you gratitude for it. You'd be lucky if you can make out of it alive.
@TheDryDragon right.... so he can risk being attacked by two different creatures capable of killing him... real smart...
the panther isn't going to view your altruistic intentions with delight, a panther will only see another potential predator (and the most lethal one at that) confronting it and it will defend itself
I hope the Burms in the Everglades start to breed with the African Rock Pythons that have recently been discovered as well in the Everglades. That way these endangered animals will have no chance against the larger, more aggressive nature of the Rock Python mixed with the powerhouse that is the Burmese Python. Power to the Pythons!
You keep mentionning the python as a threat . To which species exactly ? You know well they dont kill unless hungry which occurs for big size pyhtons pretty rarely. In what manner would they unbalance the ecosystem ? there are part of it. However your intentions may not be all natural...Do you have a financial interest in the killing of the pythons ?
@Remro88 There is no statistic available on how many pythons are in South Florida but their numbers run high. The threat is directed towards the endangered species here in Florida and it's a blind assumption of yours to make such a statement without knowledge nor research to back it up.
@Remro88 it is not (or was not ) part of the ecosystem.Do you live in Florida? If so then you are familiar with love bugs, another invasive species.no natural predators (they taste so bad nothing will eat them) every season millions of them decorate the froont of your car. When they introduced the mongoose to Jamaica to control snakes they lost 3 species of birds. The python won't have many predators either, can you not imagine the damage it could cause? in what manner? just think. Jeezus.
@reyjalapeno I used to live in Florida many years ago, but i am no reference especially to wildlife matters . Your videos are great, good sir, but in my eyes they do not prove your point which is the python threat . On the contrary it seems to be a specie that kills and dies as predator and prey ( when young). Now recently a law came to pass to forbid commerce on some snake species, hopefully to the benefit of this endangered region but most likely to some private interests also ...
This is a subspecies of the famous suçuarana, puma or cougar - these names are regional denominations for the same beautiful panther, widely spread throughout South, Central and North America (Puma concolor). The video depicts an isolated and endangered subspecies, the Florida Panther (Puma concolor coryi or Puma concolor cougar). According to Wikipedia, in the 70's there was only 20 Florida panthers in the wild, and they estimate there are 160 as of 2011. Keep it up, big cat! Avoid the snakes!
how does the panther know that this python is an actual threat and backs off? it it would have been another larger animal it would have attacked it regardless of the consequences..right?
@ErnieMartinez760 probably because the python shows a COMPLETE absence of fear even in the face of the threatening behaviour of the panther. Further more the movements of animals like snakes and spiders are difficult to predict and 'unnatural' when compared to mammals which can contribute towards their innate fear-factor.
@wexfo12 Young pythons have many predators to fear from raccoons to birds of prey. But a fully grown python might only fear large apex predators like crocodile, leopards and alligators.
@ojatro Isn't the tigerpython know to be at least as strong as the anaconda and sometimes talked about as the strongest snake even though it's 4-5 meters shorter than the anaconda or boidae (python)?
thnx u from my heart for uploading these videos..continue the good-hard job and gives us alot of more and more intresting videos like that !!keep walking guyz i am with ya ;)
in my own poor expirience with animals panther doesnt know how to kill a so large snake i mean it doesnt know where the hell to bite it and where not..and i think reptiles have a great rumor about ambushing animals! and i have an other theory too a panther needs a lot of meat so its a waste of time to kill a snake i mean what quantity of meat u can extract from a snake its even hard to diggest so thats an unfair advantage for this snake..but thats all human thoughts and tactics
I am surprised he hasn't mentioned the species long standing human-threat record...Exotic snakes that are venomous or very large constrictors should never be allowed as pets.
For a python to even come close to being able to overpower a feline, it should be at the very least twice the weight of the latter. A 60 kg. puma would easily dispatch a python or anaconda of 80-90 kg.
A python can kill anything if it has the early drop on the target and it's not overwhelmingly outsized. A python vs an American Mountain Lion is actually a pretty good match up, since the cat is not as big as other cats that constrictors would be competing against in natural habitats around the world like Panthers in SE Asia or Jaguars in South America. Not only do cats have their jaws, but large claws on all their limbs which is an advantage vs the size and strength of the snake.

Whoever is filming this if u are so concerned kill the fukin python what are u waiting for,let me guess u want to see the beautiful cat get killed and eaten so u can tell snake owners and those who are worried about this issue something like see i told u so.If it was me i would kill that snake immediately.Reason this cat has not killed a snake it is a new less threatening experience until the cat comes to a much larger snake and wap end of cat. This is so fuking disturbing
@PETESEYESBLUE My job is to document wildlife and hopefully raise awareness on pressing issues. Please recollect your thinking. There is no need to blast my work with your accusations. Thanks for watching.
@adipstide Thank you. It's impossible to please every person. I do what I can to show a world that won't be seen otherwise. More videos will be posted this month. Thanks for watching.
@ojatro nah ive seen jaguars drag 12 foot anacondas out of water and kill them for territorial reasons.. i know jags are a bit bigger than gulf panthers but then compare that 10 ft asian python to a 12 ft anaconda. ratio comparison is at least even in my opinion.
@SGSacaindo916 That's correct and fits the profile of jaguars, who are prolific hunter on land as well as in water. Still, there is a difference between the hunting behavior of Jaguars and Florida Panther, not to mention that pythons are fairly new to Florida. Thanks for watching.

I have seen a documentary here in Germany what shows that most of the Pythons will not survive a hard winter in the keys.
Most of them died and i thought this would help to dispose the Pythons.
But your videos shows me that this is not.
The Pythons are a big problem.
But the real problem are the owner of the snakes who releases them in the nature.

This is so fuking disturbing

python cant kill that panther
SGSacaindo916 2 months ago
@SGSacaindo916 A ten foot (and above) Python can certainly overpower and kill an adult Florida Panther.
ojatro 2 months ago
@ojatro nah ive seen jaguars drag 12 foot anacondas out of water and kill them for territorial reasons.. i know jags are a bit bigger than gulf panthers but then compare that 10 ft asian python to a 12 ft anaconda. ratio comparison is at least even in my opinion.
SGSacaindo916 2 months ago
@SGSacaindo916 That's correct and fits the profile of jaguars, who are prolific hunter on land as well as in water. Still, there is a difference between the hunting behavior of Jaguars and Florida Panther, not to mention that pythons are fairly new to Florida. Thanks for watching.
