  • waw!

  • I've heard this sound in songs before. Now I know the keyboard that does it. :)

  • Awesome!

....uh, you wouldn't happen to have the musical notation lying around somewhere, would you? Trying to transcribe it, and am having some difficulty.

  • Awesome, I showed my father this video and his jaw dropped. He's a big fan of yes and an admirer of Mr. Wakeman. He turned me onto prog rock and for that I am greatful. Again awesome job.

  • holy crap thats good

    and too short

  • almost needs to go one minute longer and i would be hooked!! a great solo:)

  • This is great stuff

  • Very nice indeed!

  • YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

  • Goovy man! Now I'm ready for my journey into space.

  • Booh! Very good man!

  • This literally melted me into a puddle on the floor. I had to have someone else write this comment for me just so that you'd know that.

  • ME GUSTA

  • Keep coming back to listen to this over and over again. Wished it was a bit longer. Excellent stuff, Thanks!

  • nice !!

  • Can you upload a video where you show how to set the minimoog for that sound? That would have been amazing!

  • you need to take this off youtube im wasting my life i keep coming back here to listen to it... i cant help it.. it sounds amazing.

  • i raped thereplay....

  • @Roadtoconsciousness lmao me too...

  • this is quite awesome.

  • brilliant work. don't even think my LP could even emulate that patch

  • I shouldn't say this, but here I go anyway...

This is the first time I've enjoyed something by Yes

  • All he needs is a gold sequin cape.

  • Excellent! Nice one, man.

  • excellent part 0:29 s.......

  • Absolutely excellent!!

  • Took my brain to another dimension, pay close attention.

  • everyhthing rick did afterwards is in this solo.

  • Wow - very good!

  • Good recording in stereo. There's a big hand movement near the end and you execute it beautifully. I wish I could play this one day.

  • i'm happy, if young people play such an old - and such a great - music!

    I am 62 years old an a great YES-Fan since 1972.

    Thanks!

  • Holy freaking crap. Awesome.

  • Better than old Rick! Respect!

  • 0:38 - What? What are you doing? Don't just stop and leave us like that!

  • This is inspiring. Otherworldly. How'd you come across your mini?

  • I agree Jamiejet... I am looking for moog videos.. this is the best one I've seen too..

Great solo.. of a great songo

  • Hey Isao! nice playing there! really cool!, did you learn it by ear or by a music sheet?

  • @juanelvenezolano I come back to this video from time to time to see if anyone has the sheet, but I guess the poster is too busy building ships! (see what I did there?!!). As far as I can tell, the first notes are an arpeggio of G, starting on G,D,B,G then D,B,G,D then B,G,D,B then G,D,B,G and from there on Im lost. Just that first part is hard and takes a lot of practice, particularly practice of arpeggios

  • @neil73 @juanelvenezolano (Wakeman "Wurm" solo) The way I'm seeing it, it looks like G,D,B,G then D,B,G,D, then it does the same thing and octave lower. Then starts a 3rd inversion(?) triad ascent from G - going G,Bb,Eb - then Bb, Eb, G, then Eb, G, Bb (I think). From that part, I start to get lost too. Let me know if you come across notation for it. If I can transcribe it myself, I'll let you know. I've got a sketchy 3 measures so far.

  • Bravo!

  • Isao is excellent! I wish I could find the minimoog settings for Rick Wakeman, and Keith Emerson. I have the Arturia minimoog soft synth...

  • @DTebar It's all down to learning how the Mini operates, on an almost intuitive level. Since there weren't any presets back then, the sounds came from just time spent playing and tweaking, playing and tweaking, and playing some more.

  • EAR ORGASM!!!

  • @supergeek48 It's called an Eargasm.

  • I WANT YOUR MOOG!!!! Great job on the Wakeman solo by the way.

  • That is a bad ass performance my friend

  • Nice! Solo is right on!

  • you played it perfectly, awesome job, Rick is proud of you!!!!

  • WooooooooooooooooW

  • Holy f&&k; you are the Wakester dude!

  • Goose bumps man....not great sound quality but it was good

  • you raped my soul (in a good way)

  • It sounds near perfect to me in tone and accuracy.

Now someone else please do a lesson for Steve's guitar solo.

  • WTF!!! You killed it!

  • finally, someone on youtube that actually plays a minimoog. THANK YOU.

  • you have a pm!

  • Nice demo dude..so few people demo'ing the moog D series know how to milk it like that...Bravo

  • As much as I love The Yes Album, think how much cooler it would've been if Rick had been around then. Awesome playing, my friend.

  • that's IT! Damn that's fine. Great set of riffs and you sure did em justice!

  • can we start a band?

  • u gave me a boner

  • Damn fine man! Well done

  • you are insane my friend. i think i just had a stroke from that, very good

  • i there any solo at the studio version?

  • @iloverush123 thats fucked up

  • @ElFlakoRompanTodo

As far as I can hear, no. I also believe that Rick Wakeman wasn't in the band at this point. I would like to hear the version this is played in if there was one

  • It is the version on Yessongs and a very near perfect reproduction of said part. I still think Wakeman gets in a few more triples.

  • @davidwankowski1 You're right that was Tony Kaye (on the studio version).

  • Dude, I would crawl over broken glass and rusty nails to get ahold of sheet music for this. You rok my sox! Freakin awesome

  • Sooo good. Perfect match to Wakeman's moog tone.

  • Awesome solo.

  • excelente! pero muy mecánico

  • Can I get notes of this? Awesome!

  • Awesome!

  • nice!!

  • Great job!

  • holy crap

  • You're absolutely great !!! I've never heard such a good performance of this solo (beyond Wakeman's one, of course). Greetings from Poland

  • Waoooo..... !! excelent uff..!!

  • Ca déboite cette musique je suis trop fan.

  • dope

  • hav u got the notes 4 that

  • Absolutely Great job...!!!

  • Absolutely perfect... those that bitch about the tempo... Let them try it. And if they still bitch; well, thats how Yes played it live 38 years ago... Bad Ass keys!!!!

  • Awesome dude!

  • Awesome!

    I gotta have more MiniMoog.

  • how do you play it

  • wow good job...

is that the same little synthetizer that rick uses on the top of everything?

  • @koppercito

    It's called a minimoog....

  • @koppercito

    yup, a minimoog.

  • Can someone link me to the original?

  • search for ' Yessongs Starship Trooper'

  • @neil73

    7:33

    Thanks

  • True to Wakeman`s playing!

  • excellent. as good as any mere mortal can do.

  • Dude you took my brain on a short journey with this.

  • Dude.... that was great!!

  • Bright ! Nice job ! Thanks a lot !

  • My favourite Wakeman solo played brilliantly. Thanks for posting.

  • oh man, i'm gonna learn to play keyboard as soon as i get some time :) thx

  • SPOD!

  • cool but why slowed down? can you send me the music for this tune?

  • fantastic but to short

  • great job

  • Better than the original!

  • Like bread too!!!

  • anyone else think this sounds like the mini sound used in styx "fooling yourself"?

  • im not 100% sure but I believe the Denis DeYoung used an OB8 not a mini.

  • Very nice!!!!

  • amazing fingers!

  • Shame it's slowed down. Good stuff still.

  • Simply amazing. That was spot on and the fact that it was the Yessongs live version makes it all the more impressive.

  • cool.

  • This is Love.

  • You are daft.

  • i will elaborate for you. This performance shows Love for Yesmusic... but whatever you say...

  • well obviously you statement was way too vague for anyone other than yourself to understand.

If I say "You are lemon" you don't get what the hell I'm talking about and the same here

  • Seemed pretty straight forward to me.

  • ehh, just forget it :P

all that matters is that its a kickass moog solo

  • What is love?

  • i like lemons

  • sounds sexy

  • I like bread.

  • Bread is sexy too.

  • This is the best video on Youtube, I never tire of watching it.

  • This is da best keyboard solo I ever heard

  • Any Notes??

  • ROCK! I tried learning that a long time ago and failed miserably. If this isn't spot on, it's pretty rockin' close! Ecellent!

  • wow.. great!

  • Very cool

  • So this is from Yessongs? Not from The Yes Album?

  • "Yessongs" is a live album. You are correct in knowing that this song is originally from "The Yes Album"

  • Just making sure, thanks.

  • Nice! It's on a mini-moog too so double nice!

  • Sounded right on!

  • ohh ok thankss

  • really good

  • really good

  • That is what I call -THE BEST.

  • really cool video

  • Totemo kakkoii desu!

Tochuu de owatte shimatteiru noga zannnenn desu.

  • reminds me of fooling yourself by styx

  • Thats Awesome

  • aqctually thats harsh, its still pretty good

  • lol itd be good if it wasnt slowed down

  • Sounds like the right speed to me - I've heard this version a million times.

  • i havent heard it as many times as you, maybe just over a hundred, but its definetly slower.

  • Its a bit slower from the yessongs version ... but is equal to the speed of the Keys to Ascention version :)

  • Awesome dude, I love this solo by Wakeman on Wurm, definitely a fav

  • its ok i guess, but if you can do some ELP i'll be impressed.

  • This is fucking incredible. Holy hell.

  • Excellent - I always loved that solo on the live version of ST.

  • Sheet music, please?
