@762SLR762 When i said "stringing fancy words together", I was mainly referring to all the stupid promises Rudd made. Promises which Labor then had to try and deliver at least part of before the next election. This type of reckless promise making locks taxpayer money and important policy to the governments reputation. Instead of following its own agenda the government should listen to all the stakeholders, Including the treasury, then and only then decide how to spend money, or create policy.

What has happened is former PM Rudd has been forced to the backbench for challenging mining unions in Australia. Australian voters did not kick him out by vote therefore Australia is not a democracy. The new PM Gilliard denied to have her eye on the position of PM but made it clear that she wanted it after being 'put in'. For the Americans readers who do not realise the Australian political system, Australians are not allowed to NOT vote or they suffer a heavy fine.

Most of the time when people get into debates they are both partially wrong and both partially right or aren't really even arguing about the same thing. Complex systems such as a government above all else need balance and the easiest way to find that balance is to listen to the requirements of all the stakeholders.

Rudd thought he was someone special, his arrogance was easily recognised by those not blinded by the political BS most pollies do. Rudd started well, but the fact is he has made some very stupid decisions recently. Many people within the ALP weren't happy with the content of the ETS, but were equally unhappy when it was scrapped. I have just witnessed the death of democracy in Australia. In its place is now a force for capitalism. The government has revealed itself to be BHP, Rio Tinto, banks and big business. Rudd introduced a super tax to finally tax mineral mining companies fairly. Less than 6 months later he is overthrown by his own party!!
