A cover of this song was used for the theme song of a new show starring Ruth Jones called "Stella." The song is not credited (that I could see). So I was going nuts trying to remember what it was. I have it in the garage on vinyl... Saw them play live in 1990, bought the t-shirt...
Great song why does this band never get remembered for anything? it amazes me all vintage manchester bands get forgotten just like these guys and the stone roses
Well you'd be quite wrong, I know can you dig it has appeared on one or two commercials and sometimes gets played on the radio and as for stone roses their timeless and appear on many a top 500 album list. So people still remember, like me:D well I wouldn't say remember them, I never knew them as a kid but my exploring led me to such great bands, alongside other brit abnds like manBREAK, menswear, space monkeys and the wonderstuff. Those bands were much more unappreciated trust me
The Mock Turtles were great. Underrated 90s melodic pop. The lead singer was obsessed with The Wickerman movie. And his brother was Steve Coogan AKA Alan Partridge. Their best tune was Cathy Come Home 60s kinksesque kitchen sink in 1991
a damn fine pop song from the turtle's , their best i think.. a great summery tune . so upbeat similar to where i find my heaven by gigolo aunt's in a way. 9/10
I've still got the digitally remixed dat that Martin gave me of their second album, the intention was that i was me to sing on it. I must find it and post the best of the songs. Damn fine band.
First concert I ever went to- a freebie in what's now Cardiff Bay, back in 91.
Hadn't listened to this in at least ten years and then I just started singing it to myself in the shower. Have no idea why but I've just been on an iTunes extravaganza.
P.S. Singer Martin Coogan is the brother of Steve Coogan.
Still got this on CD single from way back and play it now and then for a good old nostalgia blast. 'Another Jesus Walks on Water' on that CD is another cracking song.
I'm so pleased that this has been added. Saw them in the summer of 91 in London on tour and they played this. It was a blissful time of my life and this reminds me of that time. Thanks!!
