Not to go against the tide or anything, but...why even point out that rebellion (or secession) is illegal? Isn't the mere act of rebellion kind of a signal that the rebellers are tired of the laws as they are, and therefore want a new autonomous government? Do you realize that all the stuff the colonists did to get England to grant them autonomy--including the Declaration of Independence--were "illegal", at least to the British?
