Good list, I like the fact you threw in some Nujabes and Pete Rock. DJ Krush, Madlib, Prefuse 73, the Beatminerz and DJ Cam are missing though.

I don't agree with all the choices but that's why they call it an opinion.

Overall, good taste in music and I couldn't agree with you more on the whole mainstream producer comment. Beats for the mainstream ear is meant to be in the background.

it's all personal taste, but I didn't agree with much of this list. Sometimes simple is better. I like number 20 and 1, and the Pete rock beats though. Jazz cuts always make for a nice beat. Never heard of Nujabes, but I'm not feeling him either. Yea there is some good underground, but mainstream producers get the money for a reason...they kill it.

Actually, they get the money because they give the masses what they want. Think Soulja Boy; His beats are horrible, primitive and they fail to break any new ground, what so ever. And yet he still climbs the charts and gets way to much air time.

Most of the beats i posted is made by people who isn't in it for the money. They try their best to innovate and go against the mainstream, and they still 'kill it'.

Hence the widespread mourning for his untimely death. People listen to his instrumentals alone (like RJD2 and Emancipator) and they are musically beautiful.
