"Do you ever feel like you're just contributing a drop in the ocean?"
That question brings to mind a short story I once heard:
There was once a man who was walking on the beach that was covered with clams that were stranded on the beach by the waves. As he walked, he was picking them up & throwing them back in the water, so they wouldn't die.
Another man observing this finally asked him, "Why are you throwing these clams back in the water? There are thousands, even millions of clams on the beach. You will never save all of them. What difference could you possibly hope to make?"
The man throwing the clams picked up another clam, held it up, & said, "It matters to this 1.", & then threw it in the ocean.
Do you know how hard it is to get stuff over to Russia from the UK? how expensive transport would be? its not as easy as that, Loves Bridge run on a budget, everyone could have each split it up and mailed it out, that way they would have gotten it. Its cheap to mail Russia. Secondly the reason you are not getting a response is that there are only 2 English Speakers there full time including Hannah, she doesnt have the time to do everything. Loves Bridge are doing an amazing job!
Dont let one incident cloud your judgement, I know you are frustrated and angry as you tried to help. I am sure everyone over there appreciates the jesture. Its not as easy as that to just leave Russia, come over, pick stuff up, say hi etc. The expense of it all, and Hannah has a very important job out in Russia, both her and the whole team out there work tirelessly around theclock to care for these kids and dothe best they can, they live rough compared tous and dont have many means at disposal.
So much gear is here and Ms Hanna Louise of LOves Bridge Coundlt be arsed to make the effort here in the UK . Even though transport and support was offered we reckon that there would be improved quaility of life for the children were this true! Watch for REAL proof about 'Loves Bidge' from Hareylevene0305047 and kids lives
Loves Bridge is a lot of talk and little action. A member of the Loves Bridge is here in the UK now, and a big push has been made through my church to highlight the situation. There are gloves hats scarves and medication waiting here. It would take a couple of hours to pick the items up say hello and meet the people here that wish to help. It seems like this isn't going to happen.
This Sunday 7th December 2008 will be the deadline.
Two hours would make a difference to about 60 children.
