@MrIloveparis23 In January 2011 the 754 pound tuna sold on the Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo for US$396,700 - the highest price for a single fish since records began in 1999
The bluefin tuna is near commercial extinction because of japans dirty greed , it's this kind of fishing I don't object to , but commercial fishermen with large nets i do
@280az good comment, sport fishing is a drop in the bucket compared to commercial net fishing. if all fishing was single hook and line, the fish populations would be doing very well.
@w3iho haha marlin fights can be longer. got a friend whos dad fought a black marlin in panama for 13... of course of of the engines died so it was basically him hand cranking the thing for 5 or 6 hours. hell of a story
Thanks for pointing out a tournament is not the same thing as jackpot fishing on a party boat and is a TEAM effort. I would have thought after hearing the angler handed off his rod to the Captain for the final assist he would be inot be eligible for the jackpot. Can multiple anglers tug on the same fish and because it's a team you are not penalized. I saw a gal loose her jackpot fish once because she handed her rod off to a crew member and it was contested. What happens with shark bites?
why did it die while still being reeled in? wasn't it just tired, burnt up. 5 hours of battling will do that to anyone. or does is there another reason, like temperature differences? (which could also influence metabolism)... or gas bubbles in blood stream?...
I would had sold it to the Japanese for a lot of money. You would probably profit closed to $10k to $15k for that size. Blue fin tuna is scarce in Japan.
@GuyJeni Bluefin is scarce everywhere. In fact, endagered. With bluefin populations everywhere on the brink of collapse, we need to stop fishing for them and we need to stop eating them. Do a little research and see for yourself.
I dont like sports at all. I dont like fishing. Just wasn't my thing. i never considered fishing a sport honestly, but i got into this vid. I wanted to see that big catch. It was interesting to me because I always wondered how the guys near coastal areas catch such big fish. i know nothing ab out lures or lines, it just looks like little string to me. I dont know anything about that.maybe deep sea/big game fishing has stronger string dunno. This vid i enjoyed fishing for the first time. Thanks!
you really cant hide from stupid trolls that attack your vids in the most stupid manner it can ever be. still, even if it didnt die on the line, you should keep it, its worth a share for all those who helped you. just ignore those trolls sufferring from severe insecurity level.

Just a suggestion, dunno if it affects the boat or anything, but you should get a big door at the back of the boat so you can open it then pull the fish in :)
The REAL challenge is to take a tuna like that under water. I am a fishermen, but I always throw back a catch. Why would you need to keep it? The thrill is done once you catch a glimpse of the big fish and pulled it in. after that if you keep it its dumb.
