  • Looks a Lou Reed with Down Syndrome.

  • This guy belongs in GWAR!

  • Beavis and Butthead brought me here. If there's a scene of Peter Griffin watching in Family Guy, Peter would say, "I can tear off my face, too." Peter would do something dangerous to his face and yell, "OOOOOOOOOOOOWWWW! SOMEBODY CALL 911!" That would mean Family Guy would increase 150 views to a million

  • Anybody know what happen to Beavis and Butthead's commentary on Reed's "No Money Down". I can't find it anywhere on YouTube :(

  • The robot knows it exists, and realizes it is all alone. It goes mad, and kills its self. How could an entity tolerate the state of knowing it is a machine?

  • I remember watching MTV's "world premiere" of this video back in '86, and I never saw it again since. Only clips of it on their commercials. The VJ described it as something like "the robots in Herbie Hancock's 'Rockit' gone horribly wrong."

  • Fuck yes i was looking for this video for a month!

  • he looks like huey lewis at the start

  • This is why the robots turned on us in the Matrix!

  • suck my fucking dick

  • too bad he ripped his skin off because then there would be an animatronic Lou Reed out there

  • He'll be back...

  • it's the first terminator.....I saw it as a kid. no sleep for long time...

  • Now BLEEEEEEED FOR MEEEE

  • muito bom

  • Thumbs up if Beavis brought you here.

  • @MuggleSnuggles Huh huh, cool!

  • A Muppet movie gone horribly wrong...

  • i think i saw this guy at chucke cheeses one time

  • This is the coolest of all videos, of course like if there was some big boobs and stuff that would be cool too....

  • One of the best videos of 1986. Lou Reed's body of work is rivaled only by The Beatles, The Stones, and Dylan.

  • this guy belongs in gwar

  • Comment removed

  • bet that robot was expensive...

  • This guy should be in Gwar!

Ah Beavis and Butthead. Seriously, though. Lou Reed rules.

  • creepy.

  • some would argue that Lou actually looks BETTER with no face!

  • Finally I remember seeing this video on beavis and butthead as a kid and I finally found it thanks internetz

  • No he'd want to keep the boobs.

  • RUN AWAAAAAY!!!!

  • i dont get it why is the robot riping its own head off?

the reaction from beavis and butthead was funny if u watch there version

  • great video!

    ema

    ematube

  • Call me a fraidy cat baby, but this would have frightened the crap outta me if i was 5 or 6.

  • A crack!

  • Why? I little bit of me has died after this.

  • Alert the Governator!

  • Now that's the stuff of nightmares!

  • I- I can't speak The shock and horror is too great.

  • I, for one, welcome our robot overlords.

  • seth green?

  • GO FOR THE HAIR GO FOR THE HAIR

  • Eighties fun: put a cassette of this song in your Teddy Ruxpin.

  • SLEESTAK!

  • @madhatte73.

Shit, he really DOES look like a Sleestak. when I saw this I though "Wow Lou Reed has really gone down hill"

It took me a while to realize it was a puppet.

  • Lou Reed of the Uncanny Valley.

  • Haha, this guy should be in GWAR!

  • damn i think this dude is the last boss in one of my beat'em up games...also looks like bryan fury's brother

  • this video is funny I think I saw it on bevis and butthead many years ago and thought like them it was sick the way he rips the skin off his face think this guy has watched the temonator too mutch and wants too be arnie I think but as I say a top freakey video of all time I think very funny and very cool.

  • this video is gross

  • Beavis & Butthead watch this on an episode: they like it; I them too!

  • wonderful music.

  • Wow that was fucked up! Ok, what does that have to do with the song?

  • Michael Jackson anyone?

  • Totally not cool. You didn't have to like him, just show some respect.

  • Yes, we should show all plastic, race changing paedophiles our utmost respect.

  • Sometimes people should just keep their opinions to themselves. You may not have liked him, but millions of other people did.

  • I doesn't matter who did or didnt like Michael Jackson, the fact of the matter is tha Lou Reed looks like him in this video.

  • Whatever.

  • @NoisePollution365

So wait.. other people who liked him have free range to share their opinion. But people with differing opinions need to shut up and sit down?

    Why?

  • @NaliniMarcasite I don't like people that talk shit about dead people.

  • @NoisePollution365

Well, neither does anybody. But people are inherently entitled to their opinion.

  • @NaliniMarcasite Sometimes I think people have too much freedom of speech. The day he died, people were already making fucked up jokes about him.

  • He always had those kind of jokes following him around. No need to be angry.

  • This should have MILLIONS of views.

  • what a fantastic video

  • This is so creepy.

  • Lou Reed - Musical Terminator.

  • Go for the Hair!

  • this so awesome, who would expect a video like this from good old Lou,ha i still remeber it on beavis and butthead

  • reminds me of peppermint park

  • RoboLou.

  • Oh Hell yeah!.. that was the 80's for sure.. lolz. ps: this video had me just staring at the tv trying to make sense of it as i dig the tunes...

  • Who the fuck gave this comment thumbs down?

  • Thanks.

  • great,it was cool to see this one on beavis and butthead too.

  • To quote the immortal Beavis..."This is the coolest of all videos....uh huhuhuh uh huhuhuh...."

  • When the jaw was ripped off I felt kinda uneasy in the stomach. And I can usually withstand some pretty fucked up shit.

  • "This guy belongs in GWAR!"

  • The eyes remind me of Gizmo from Gremlins.

  • '80 '80'80 '80'80 '80!!!!!!!

  • Fuck yeah, 80's

  • ha ha what the fuck

  • oh so contemporary....!

  • Woooww!!!!...The best videoclip of the '80!! I looove it! :-)))

  • they destroyed a perfectly good animatronic! nice :D

  • Good ole Lou! Forget about Schwarzenegger playing The Terminator, Lou would have been a better choice judging by the video!

  • I was about 6 years old when I saw this. Scared the piss out of me.

  • Ahh this makes me want to rip my face off right now.

  • so this is where the robbie williams video came from! :))) love lou.

  • Poor Lou Reed...so off his face

    boom boom

  • Thanks for posting - Its nice to lay to rest freaky childhood memories of a music video that ain't so bad after all. hahah!!!

  • Lou Redd is awesome and this vid shows it,He's like ripping off his whole body and yet still singing, hahaha that's what I call a rocker and the fact that Beavis and butthead liked Lou and this video from him is even cooler.good song indeed!

  • Memphis Tn, had a punk rock club called the Antenna back in the early 80's. I saw this for the first time there, and it blew my mind! I've always wanted to see it again, but haven't been able to find it until now. This is wicked cool!

  • This video's the shit!

  • The first and only time I saw this my cousen and I laughed because of how far it went with the destruction of his face and we were I figure really creeped out by the video.

  • in the words of Beavis and Butt-head "This guy belongs in GWAR!" And "This should be in every video!"

  • Wreck an expensive animatronic, wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

  • Hey this isn't so bad, I don't see why people are so creeped out by-OH MY GOD WHAT THE FUCK IS HE DOING TO HIS FACE I CAN NEVER EXPERIENCE JOY AGAIN

  • I say this when I was 3 years old by myslef. It was on my dad's VHS and it had Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, Promotional videos for Get Back and Day Tripper, an interview with Brian Wilson, and then Beavis and Butthead watching this... I ran upstairs

  • But yeah I know what you mean. If you have a pair of nuts and you're not a toddler this shouldn't creep you out.... and this isn't a bad tune either, it's rare to find a good 80s song by Lou. His 70s tracks are astounding, and after that he kind of putting out weak material, except for the LP New York.

  • This is not your Disney animatronics.

  • I believe Lou had argumentive reservations about appearing in a music-video, saying that he found the trend superficial... And he'd sooner rip his face off than have it appear in a vid. I guess the directors & conceptualists heard that & thought: "Y'know... that gives gives me an idea!" And the video was born. Lou seemed to always want to provoke thought with his music, and do it in an artful, enjoyable fashion. This vid is an example of it. Bravo, Lou.

  • I saw this vid only a couple times when it came out, then never again... Until now. Went nuts for years trying to find the song, because I couldn't remember anything about it but the chorus. Then... a saw a re-run of a episode of SNL, with Lou on it & recognized him. Once I learned his name, I went to look for the song... And found it! Lou's music is good for when you want to get your thoughts involved in it. BTW: I tried to look like Lou did here in jr.-high... But to some I looked like Ahnuld.

  • Check out some of his music when he (somewhat) fronted the Velvet Underground back in the late 60s. Their first two albums, "The Velvet Underground and Nico" and "White Light/White Heat" are without a doubt in my top 10 most favorite albums of all time.

As for Lou's solo stuff, "Transformer" is my favorite album of his.

  • Lou Reed as the Terminator!

  • I LOVE YOU LOU

  • this is brillant! we all tear off our face for love. I have always loved this video...pure art!

  • I tried that. It hurts like hell!

  • Kill me

  • I saw this as a teenager and I think I was sick. For 20 yrs I would RUN to the TV & turn it off when it came on.

Weird thing is,since studying film & animation, the animatronic head looks far less convincing to me & therefore less traumatic.

    It's still horrifying,tho'.

  • look at this video while you eat dinner.

  • beavis and butthead!

  • Oh dear god. That was disturbing.

  • Good lord, I remember seeing this on Mtv when I was little. It's actually far more horrifying than I remember it being. D:

  • a true transformer!

  • OH THE FLAMES

    OH THE HUMANITY

  • My oldest son was 2 years old and we were watching this video for the first time on MTV together and he freaked out screaming and ran out of the room. All I had to do was say Lou Reed and the kid freaked out! He's 24 right now and I posted this on his Myspace comments! I can't wait to see what he says! HA HA

  • From The Terminatior to Leader 1 from Gobots.

  • Love this song, awsome song too.

  • Hmm...if he had breasts, would he have torn those off too?

  • Ever seen the Animatrix?

  • What memories bring this back to me, oh man, how the time go through

  • More dumb jokes about this video:

"Oh no---vandals got into Rock Circus!"

    {or}

"No,No,NO!!!Herbie Hancock's 'Rockit' is shooting on Stage 6!!!"

    {or}

"I guess it's true---they ARE adding Lou Reed to Pirates Of The Caribbean!"

  • To be honest, the first time I saw this video was on an episode of Beavis and Butthead. I watched in amazement.

  • Yep, I first saw it on that show as well. Oh the memories, I was about 14 I think then hehehe.

    A..

  • Se parece a Fidel Velázquez. el fallecido líder sindicalista mexicano...

  • Se parece a Fidel Velázquez. el fallecido líder sindicalista mexicano...

  • Just goes to show ya the raw imagination of Lou Reed !!! He rocks !! - what a great classic !!!

  • lol I remember beavis and butthead commented that the guy in the video looked very sick..

  • this vieo actually was featured in one episode of "beavis and butthead" They thought the video was cool, but the song was crap

  • This video is like a cross between Rock DJ, Technologic and Evil.

  • Oh man! I remember this video from Beavis and Butthead, I had no idea this was Lou Reed!

  • "Art Garfunkel is---THE TERMINATOR."

    {or}

    "It's Lou2Reed2!"

  • Also, yeah - Uncanny Valley.

  • Guh... I searched for this so I could get some kind of "Ha, that used to scare me" closure, but the end is still kind of freaky.

  • Nice to see I wan't the only one terrified of this video as a kid..

  • Lou said once in an interview that when his Mom saw this she just about had a heart attack!

  • wtf why did that robot tear his rubber skin off. That was scary when I was small. What is the point of that video to begin with?

  • I think Lou had some sort of dispute with his record label and wouldn't appear in the clip...so they improvised...

  • Well, maybe when he refused to do the video they said,"He's cutting off his nose to spite his face" & the director said,"Hang on..!"

  • I guess this one lacked the chip to keep it from self-terminating.

  • Rooooobot House!!!

  • Ahhhh! God...I remember seeing this video on VH1 Classic when I was a bit younger (19 now) and it creeped me out even though I knew it was a robot Lou Reed...it doesn't freak me out AS much now lol but it still does...

  • I first saw it on VH1 Classic too.

  • I remember that video so much terrifying than actually is =)

  • I was another child of the 80s, totally freaked out by this one. Weird how this kind of avant sensibility used to work its way into the mainstream every now and then. Proto-fuel for the surrealists of today.

  • still terrifying

  • this is like that scene from Poltergeist

  • This scared the fuck out of me when I was a child.

  • ill be back

  • At first, this video looked kinda scary, until my older brother (I was probably 8 at the time) reassured me that Lou was really a robot. Then I wasn't so scared, and actually kinda liked this video. Not surprisingly, the video was shown only a couple of times on MTV. (Of course, the fact that neither the song or the album did very well saleswise could have had something to do with it.)

    -MINESWEEP

  • Hey,look---the Terminator got a perm!

  • "This dude belongs in GWAR." - Butt-head

  • LMAO - I remember this video on Beavis and Butt-head too!

  • the robot looks like a cross between a human and a reptile

  • Like Lou Reed himself, then.

  • I always loved this one!

  • HEHEHEHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

  • This video freaked me out when I was a kid, and that was before the robot Lou tears off his own face. You can tell from the start that something is off. Definitely proof of the "Uncanny Valley".
