@hanslammerding I've often thought about putting mini-apes on mine. If they ever had them a bit wide, and really fat, I'd be sorely tempted!!
Better than the electragide??? Wow! I know the style of the RK is superior, but the creature comforts of the EG are also very attractive in their own right.
I'm have 16" Apes on my '09 Road King, but those Beach bars look incredible! More pullback than the harley beach bars. Also the littel eyebrow trim ring visors on the front do more for RK's than most people give them credit for, they really strech the look for the eyes. Solid looking Bike! Not overdone, just solid.
@Ridgid Thanks, Ridgid! Awesome mileage! Glad to hear it runs great. No longer have to worry about reliability. I love the beach bars and will probably always have them. Took a bit of getting used to, esp. with the windshield off, but I have loved them lo these 5 years now. Plus, I think the size of the RK just demands big bars to complete the look. IMHO.
@maikeli7 Good deal.. Check your cam chain adjusters around 30 K costly mistake if you don't.. I really like the spoke wheels but had two incidences where the rear wheel spokes losened up,went into a scary wobble on me at 80 mph. I swaped out the rear wheel with a solid rim 10 spoke. Speedo went at 40K easy fix. Best thing i ever added to the RK was a Mustang seat, Ride Safe....Enjoy
@Ridgid That's what I've heard as well. Getting close to that mileage, so it is on my mind. Will watch the spokes for that problem. So far, so good. Only work I've had to do was replace the battery after 4 years, and I had to replace a nut that had fallen off the Rinehart True Duals. Couple tire and fluid changes as needed, but that's about it. no malfunctions of the drive system or suspension. Very happt with it! =^D
I just bought my 2009 RK Classic...just ordered the mustang seat and I as you love the skull look. I will post a vid soon. My next thing to do would be Rhinehart Slip ons.
@Trishadadisha Thanks, T! I know that you will love your RK, probably even more than I love mine- with all those upgrades since the 2005 models! Can't wait to see your vid!
I love this scoot. Looks and sounds awesome. Looks just like my brother's with the same exhaust, but not the Willie G theme. Nice. Real Nice. Airhorn rules.
Nice bike, I have one very similar to it, I own a 2006 Road King Classic, no mods to the engine, but I have added other things to the bike, just got done putting a radio on the bike for those long rides when the wind by itself gets old. The radio is actually what started me on posting videos on youtube... Well ride safe, watch out for those four wheelers.
Your bike is truley amazing.... I bought my 2009 Road King Classic in november and i love it. You sold me on those beach bars and exhaust they rock. Thanks for posting your video.. Ride on and ride safe....
Thanks!! :-D Glad you are happy with the bars and the pipes! I've loved 'em as well, and I've got 24,000 miles on at this point. My only advice is to watch the exhaust nuts holding on the exhaust pipes at the engine heads. They can come loose over time and with heating and cooling. I just went through that problem myself. Boy, I kind of wish I had the '09 or the '10. Throttle-by-wire, Brembo ABS, new frame, wider rear tire, 6-gallon tank!! You are riding a sweet bike, my friend!!
Amazing... It looks just like the one I´ve just bought here in Sweden 2 days ago but that one came from Florida and has even more flames and add on stuffs. I´ll try to make a vid later, it´s lots of snow and very cold here right now. This was good to see, thanks!
And it´s my first Harley, just borrowed friends now and then for some short rides so I´m realy looking forward to get on the road this spring... Thanks for answering buddy!
Nice bike. Never stopped to think about the loud pipes saving lives but I guess thats got to be so. So with all those headlights you got, that horn and the pipes, must be reassuring.
Hey ... nice bike, looks like a date for my road queen...lol I have the skull motife also.. I can throw it around like I am dancing with an Angel!! I love her!!
Thanks for the video. I am purchasing TODAY mine from a dealer. I must say your video helped me a lot taking a final decision. I was unsure between a regular softail and a big bike. Im buying a 2004 black FLHRCI. Thanks!
Make that 97 subscribers Mike! Great videos,You have a fantastic sence of humor!! and your FLHRC is the bomb!! love the throw-back retro 50s look!! I'm looking@ getting a 08'FLHRC w/9K all stock.but pricey$,I may just save somemore for new,Love your add-ons! Pipes/Barrs/Horn,Great stuff!
Woo-hoo!! Somebody who actually gets my sense of humor!! Thanks for the kind words. If I were you, I'd get an '09 after the '10's come out. I got my '05 RK in '06. Had only 3,000 miles on the odo, and a boat-load of add-ons. I saved a bunch!
As for the camera, I have 2 methods: 1. strapped to my right wrist, and 2: GoPro camera mounting system (there is a variety to this one).
Now all you gotta do is get rid of those UGLY orange and red reflectors.. =) What's up Mike? Still in the process of moving but I just bought a new laptop, so I'm surfing in the hotel room. Bike unloads tomorrow and I can't wait...Found a road today with some great twisties..Not Deals gap but as close as I'm gonna get.
I need to do an updated walk-around of the bike, as I've changed a few things, among them being the reflectors on the rear crash bars. They're gone. Haven't touched the reflectors on the down tubes on the frame, as I just haven't noticed them. I ride a lot at night as well, so I'm thinking I might be better off with them than without.
Thank you! Not taking anything away from your magnificent sled! It doesn't matter the make because they all offer the same thing: being on two wheels in the wind!
Thanks for the kind words! The beach bars have been pretty comfortable. The only problem I've had is that tight turns (as in slow maneuvering) take a bit of getting used to, as you really have to be aware of how far out your arms are . Other than that, I've loved 'em!
I've only been riding since April of '06. Unfortunately, I only average about 9 - 10K per year. I'm hoping to get out and take a major road trip this year though!
Well, then you're on the upside of the crowd. Most people only ride 3 to 4000 miles a year at best. Live and enjoy. By the way, that's a good looking motorcycle.
Thanks!! I must say, after seeing your vids, I'm in awe! I'm hoping to upgrade at some point to an Ultra Classic, but for now, my FLH more than fits the bill.
Gregster again. I meant to ask, did you purchase the horn, or was it on there already? I love it, and want one like that for myself. Who is it made by? I agree, any help we can get is needed. Thanks again.
I bought the horn from Harley. It cost about $130.00, I think. (Been a while.) I put it on myself. The directions said to lift the tank off to run the wires, but I fudged it by gingerly pushing them into the wire gap with the tank loosened. I used a spatula! Took about 4 hours. Might be better to include install on a bike service; many dlrs make it free.
Sold! Thanks for the video. I used to have a Harley. My ex-wife did not want me to have one and now divorced, I have been looking. I was going between 3 models, but your video sold me on the Road King. I LOVE the mods. Perfect bike. I smiled thru the whole video and laughed at the "pissing off the neighbors", that was great. Thanks again for submitting. I am sure it will change my life too, for the better of course.
It's so nice to know that my little video has been so inspirational to people, including my new friend in Germany, who ended up buying a black Road King too! I know you're going to love it!!
The added oomph is in two places: at the outset, with increased pull and an appreciative kick in the pants, and also just past the mid point of the range, going up to the high end. The increase, in my case, is much appreciated.
sounds good to me..i have a 2007 road king classic. i had the d & d fatcat pipes put on it. it sounds good to me. i was thinking about gettin the rhineharts but i did not. oh well, my motorcycle sounds like a Harley now..haha later, james
Yeah, I had to do a lot of sampling of sounds and such before I went with the Rineharts. I heard Vance & Hines, Screamin' Eagles, and even Bassani, but in the end, I liked the lower bass sound of the Rineharts. If only the end caps would keep their color!
You're right though, the stock pipes don't really sound like Harley.
Sweet bike! Great sound too. I bought an 06 Road Kind Custom last summer and I'm looking forward to doing a little customization, so I'm listening to different pipes. I think the horn is a great idea as well.
Thanks for the comment! The only drawback to the Rinehart pipes is the end caps. They are black, which is fine, but over time, and with repeated heating and cooling, they start to change color. My right side end cap is turning a purplish color after a year of use (9,000 miles). It doesn't look bad, but I wish it would just stay black. The horn sounds great, but I wish it looked less awkward.
@hanslammerding I've often thought about putting mini-apes on mine. If they ever had them a bit wide, and really fat, I'd be sorely tempted!!
