  • Great

  • I thought it was cool - something for everyone who read this in high school and thought it started right AFTER the best part of the story! Striking & effective

  • lØl_Âñyoñe_wáÑnA_chât_wìth_mé_I_fÈËl_sø_l0ñélÿ_t0Dáý♪

  • 0:22 the O looks like being from Portal (that game)

  • This is just generally lacking in almost all of the main themes and points of Kafka's book. Did you even read it?

  • You made the human Gregor look vaguely like Kafka himself - the black hair, black eyes, thin face. I don't know if it was intentional, but it is so brilliant. He was so much "author avatar" in his work that I always imagine him as his main characters.

  • brilliant!

  • fuck

  • weak.

  • That's beautifully executed. Utterly terrifying. Gorgeous. I love it.

  • OMG!!! THis video is just sooooooooooo damn wack!!!!

What is wrong with you people?

"Ohhh I love this, its so scary"....

Common I think you have more sense than that...

  • ....!!!!exceptionally scary sight...and the music oooooh!

  • the theme is completely different from the kafka's story.. this is gothic/ horror, inappropriate for the esistential inquietude that kafka wants to suggest..

  • What does the beginning say? Can't understand German :'(

  • it's so sad T.T

  • As far as the story behind this clip is concerned I truly am appaled! I strongly dislike the fact that you've visualised the creature - Kafka didn't want that to happen for a good reason.

Secondly, I don't really understand why you've made up the whole eating-a-bug-while-sleeping thing. the way I see it, the fact that there is never a reason (or to put it in a better way , that the reason is ignored and regarded as unimportent) is absolutly essential in Kafka's work...

  • That was amazing. You're a true artist

  • I loved..

thanks very much for your video

  • Wonderful! The Metamorphosis has always been one of my favorite books of all time. Great choice of music too.

  • I hope it is of some interest to many watchers, that soon the ! first ! biography on the close friend between Max Brod and Kafka, Felix Weltsch, will be published in German language: "Kafka's nearly unknown friend Felix Weltsch" - Kafkas fast unbekannter Freund - by Carsten Schmidt (Univ. Potsdam)

  • oh, I admire people who can materialize the things they see inside their minds. wonderful.

  • Muy bien hecho caballero.... perfectly done sir.... i really really like it.... regards from Costa Rica.............( I think i'm going to take a couple of ideas for a fiction short that we are about to make....

  • Veramente inquietante!

  • that was...sad ;(

    but good xD

  • well done... as both a visual art as well as literature major...

  • You've done a very good job!

  • very good animation :-)

  • It is a scary conception to eat a bug... that's all!

  • i dont even remember writing that even though i concur.

  • Very nicely done.

I filmed a live action adaptation of the story...

  • this is bad. my boy didnt even turn into a bug. it was all in his head.

  • "this is bad. my boy didnt even turn into a bug. it was all in his head."

The metaphor utilized by Kafka in the story is pretty much just that.

The idea of the "bug" is used, imo, to portray simple human alienation and isolation. It carries with it the idea of being a monster among your friends and family.

I like looking at the insect as a symbolic device in order to get across a type of alienation that would otherwise be difficult to write about.

  • why are you watching it if you find it so bad

  • Because I am superman!

  • Grossartige Arbeit!

:| a Képzőre jártál?Volna néhány kérdésem az egyetemmel kapcsolatban.:)

  • I liked it pretty much with 2 exceptions.

The birds in the beginning are shown for so long - ithough they were the main charecters :D

Second is his tear in the end. It makes the whole thing too simple. Its like point at him "look he is so sad now".

  • Kafka é o bicho da goiaba no brasil

  • it doesnt like book

  • franz kafka is awesome

  • nagyon jó lett, a zene is megy hozzá, gratulálok!

  • Awesome!

  • but why'd u make it go into his mouth?! nasty. but living like a bug ain't easy none of your old clothes fit you

  • a MONSTROUS VERMIN!!

  • Great animation!

  • u.u beautiful animation!!!!!!!!!!!love kafka and gregor samsa u.u ;-;!!!

  • kafka is my friend

  • amazing. congratulations! n_n

  • oohhh good lord !!!!this is just amazing, got no words to express this magnificent work, really really shows everything of what i imagine of gregorio metamorphosis. !

  • Amazing video!! I didn't think the link for downloading would still work but it does :)

  • an amazing book and great animation on your part

  • Absolutely wonderful.

  • this book is required for my reading class in college.I will study it thouroughly so I don't get an F for the course.

  • beautiful

  • It actually made me cry, I have to be honest.

  • Very visually beautiful and a great representation of Metamorphosis. I enjoyed this very much. Very very much.

  • Very good job. Thank you.

  • Great job. What is the technic to do this? How did you did it?

  • Hello, the images and backgrounds were hand-drawn (pencil & aquarell/watercolor), for coloring i used Adobe Photoshop 5.0, for animation (pivot-camera moving) i used Toon Boom Studio 1.0 and the composition was made in Adobe Premiere 5.1.

  • great

  • whaaaa purdy. nice. cool prehistory sequence mang. animation is very reminiscent of vampyresthe music fits the story. well done

  • Awesome.

  • Beautiful animation...but incredibly slow.

wonderful idea though, i just couldnt get fully into it

  • Kedves Lacika! Netán te is a képzőre jársz?

  • oh...wow...

  • but excellent video btw congrats

  • omg i think im gonna have a nightmare........

  • That was very cool.

  • This video is excellent; I love Kafka and the Metamorphosis, and this is a wonderful interpretation!

  • Wow. That was quite intense... good job, very haunting. Great sound and choices in animation style.

Odlično vzdušje, glasba in povezava s Kafko.

  • didn't like it, just my opinion, the animation was great but wasnt a big fan of how you portrayed the actual metamorphosis but keep up the good work

This is an exfacting and nicely finished animation film, congartulation!

This is an exfacting and nicely finished animation film, congartulation!

  • Oh sad sad world, that in which Kafka's superb writing is turned into a Hollywoodian horror flick.

This work could be quite decent if you had never connected it to the Metamorphosis. I'd start with a change of title, to allow it some credibility.

  • That was vicious. A fabulous film project and by far the greatest artistic adaptation of Kafka's work I've seen so far. What program did you use, and when are you posting another video?

Also, in the credits, I saw something about a Total War game... what did you use that for?

  • Hello, the programs that i used: Adobe Photoshop 6.0, Adobe Premiere 5.1, Toon Boom Studio 1.5, Adobe Audition 1.0.

I've used some sounds from the Medieval: Total War game, that's why it is in the credits.

About my next video: it should still remind secret... :)

  • TEHRE WERE NO CROWS IN THE BOOK SORRY

  • I don't understand why people don't read the section "ABOUT THIS VIDEO". I never ever mentioned, that this is Franz Kafka's Metamorhposis. I wrote, that this is a fictional story, a premise to the original novel... would it be better, if i wrote that this is a "prologue" to the original story?

  • Is that so hard to understand?

So Metamorphosis: Gregor Samsa's Nightmare and Kafka's Nightmare have nothing with each other, only the main character, the name of Gregor Samsa.

Here is a detail from Kafka's Metamorphosis:

"One morning, as Gregor Samsa was waking up from anxious dreams, he discovered that in bed he had been changed into a monstrous verminous bug..."

  • Ask yourself: "Do we know how or why Gregor turnded into a bug?" No. And that is all about my fictional tale/story/cartoon is trying to say. Simple as that.

BTW: thanks for all your comments, critics etc. Much appreciated.

Right now I'm working on other projects, so be ready to see some new stuff. Soon.

Also, I forget to mention: my mother language is not english, so, hope you understand, if i wriote someting unusual.

  • Edit: I made a mistake... with Kafka's Nightmare I mean Kafka's Metamorphosis. Sorry.

  • Paralytically slow and unfocused both videographically and in its truth to the Kafka story from which is is presumably taken.

If this were a senior project in high school project, I'd be more inclined to accept this level of incompetence and misunderstanding.

  • I don't know much about videos in terms of focus or length, but the scenery and animation added a slow transgression similar to what Kafka's story presented.I don't find the idea of an insect flying into the mouth quite what Gregor would have dreamt of, but it did pass on a frightening tone. I disagree with you that this is "incompetent" in that this video only portrays the feelings that Gregor goes through during his transformation. We are unsure, and thus leaves open a broad perspective.

  • I'll give you credit; it was pretty good, but the frame-to-frame thing got at me at first.

    I still liked this!

  • cool music, good film

  • Well done :)

  • Does anybody know where i can watch the play of this book. It was adapted by Steven Berkoff from the novel and im studying it at an A Level in perf arts class. Anyone know where i could watch it?

  • Lyric Hammersmith in London,

    January/Febuary next year

  • yh, i saw that yesterday. I was wierd. But in a good way.

  • yh, i saw it there yesterday. It was wierd, but in a brilliant way.

  • Very interesting interpretation of what occured before Kafka's story. Introducing the gothic element was somewhat cliched, although fitting in the circumstances. The erratic animation definitely added another element, the almost insect-like progression of the film. All in all, very interesting.

  • Remek munka!

  • sleep?

  • its very good

  • iih is das ekelig

  • really good, i like it. From the novel we don't know what dreams Gregor Samsa had that night, but the atmosphere in that clip is similiar to the atmosphere of the novel.

  • I somehow always imagined that Gregor Samsa's dream was similar to the one that Josef K had in the cemetary.

    This is very well done.

  • wicked!

    favoriting this..

  • I am impressed with this one ! Good music selection too... 5 Stars *****

  • omg how hideos

  • Well done. Nice work.

  • Odlična animacija!

I was very inspired by your work, from the clods at the beginning, I too am on my way to become a visual artist :)

  • good work , well interperated

  • very neat... gregor's "unsettling dreams" couldn't have been better portrayed

  • Great choice of music! It was Rachmaninov Concerto No. 2, wasn't it? I'm a huge fan of German (more-so Russian) literature and The Metamorphosis has to be one of my favorites. It was a little different from the story but AWESOME JOB! It made my day.

  • Hello Chimory!

It not the original story itself, but as i wrote, it is somehow a "premise" to the original story. That's why its title is Gregor Samsas Nightmare.

  • Huh gratulálok!!

    Nagyon ügyes vagy,megfogott könyv?:)

  • Too bad that it has almost nothing to do with the short novel.

Plzzzz read it and then comment it.

  • You have at least 4 minutes completely irrelevant in the dramaturgy.

Maybe you know already "The Metamorphosis Of Mr Samsa" by Caroline Leaf. It is very short and direct animation based in this Kafka's book.

Still I like yours very much, specially the the environment which is very good. Congratulations and continue the good work! ;)

  • Very nice work, excellent music, and I love the animation.

  • amazing video dude!

  • Amazing. So glad I found this great work on YouTube!

  • Nice animation. I like your movie.

Of course, there is something disturbing in any "graphical interpretation" of Kafka. I mean, those details that Kafka has chosen to leave out, had to be left out.

Anyway, as a movie in itself, it is interesting.

And I love cockroaches!. They are amazing.

  • There are still perl at youtube. Nice work :)

  • beautiful. i love the tear. very good art (although a bit jerky for me). over all, very nice.
