That's incredible. A great end to a roller-coaster of a story.
Aside from the sentimental value of this particular guitar, '64 was kind of a milestone year for Martin too, being the year they moved from their old factory to the new one.
Great work, you saved a piece of history, and it sounds great...."It's miller time" ooop's i meant "canadian beer time" yeah!! peace" to you guys up north , from New York State..
cool I do fixem myself too ,hobby only ,,i take ol cheap guitars and fixem and give em or sell em for cheap,,,thanx for your tips and ,,sence of ha ha ....happy new year man
Watching you repair that Martin was like watching the Resurrection of...you know who...great job man, the world needs more guys like you, a bit nuts but hey nuts can be good sometimes! you are a star in my book.
I just sent mine back to Nazareth for neck reset (warranty). So I found this series of videos very interesting. Very impressive! Now I have to find the time to watch all of your other videos ... Great stuff.
Spent the evening , going from start to finish with the Martin... I said the otherday ...I want to fix acoustic guitars when I grow up and Davey sure did inspire me after seeing him work the Martin miracle ...so cool Well done ,
Your videos are a great inspiration to those who would like to take up guitar repair. Hard work, dedication, passion and a bottle of beer gets the job done! Cheers!
P.S. It would be a shame if you busted that guitar in half. Glad you didn't!
you could hear the worry in your voice when you were talking about the guitar ..ya put some serious T L C into it.. the repair speaks for itself...wish you live in australia
Fantastic work. I just dropped my Martin off at NYC's Mando Brothers for a crack in the back body. I hope they do the job you did. I am completely impressed.
Great to watch all the videos on this repair Dave and to finally see such a fabulous finnished product!! This is the best reality TV I've ever watched!!!!
Hi Again Dave, I don't usually find you tube subjects all that interesting but as you can see I'm still up viewing your videos.. I don't think there is any greater gift in life that one person can offer another than that of sharing their knowledge & experience. (OH! maybe one thing...a good cold Canadian Beer) I value your comments and love your videos. Keep up the awsome work and thanks so much for sharing & many thanks to youtube for making it all possible. Dave B. Nova Scotia.
Quite a marathon but glad for a happy ending. I wouldn't have thought you could transform such an abused puppy and give it a new life. Interested to know total hours spent in restoration. I suspect it was more of a labour of love than a profitable venture.
Well done! Thanks for the vids! My '62 000-18 is scheduled for her jubilee :-) neck reset, etc., next month. It's great to learn more about the whole process (and what happens when wood dries out).
Hello Dave, I love the work you do. More power and success to you on future repair jobs. As we say here in Hawaii, Mahalo Nui Loa! Thank you very much for sharing your insight and expertise.
Wow just saw all your vids on the martin you did a really fantastic job man. When i saw the dove tail i thought it was dead for sure. I found it interesting the way you applied the varnish by putting clear on first. Never seen that before but it makes sense as you'll be able to get back to the bare wood if you want to later on.
i just whatched all the videos on this tough martin guitar but looks like everything worked out at the end! i have been doing a little gutar building and repair myself and i think the work you have done on this guitar was amazing! keep up the hard work and rock on! i was wonder if you could give me some suggestions on how i should repair a crappy guitar i have gotten, but hopefully a nice average guitar in the futer
i enjoyed watching you from part #5 till the martin owner played his treasured guitar!!!
