they're not playing, they're having a mild argument about who's boss cos the lighter coated horse was tresspassing on the dark one's personal space and wouldn't move away at his subtler warnings. If you notice from the first second the darker one keeps trying to get the other one to respect his cues to "scootch over" and the lighter one just keeps ignoring and defying till the "boss" looses his pateince and throws a real bite.

Okay, these equines are Mares and are most liking having a minor dispute over dominance. It is quite common for Mares to start fighting to assert dominance over the other.

Just because they do not have their ears pinned back, doesn't mean they aren't fighting. And if you look closely, you can see that in many parts of this video, they do in fact have their ears pinned back. Both equines have their teeth 'bared' during nearly the entire dispute also.
