  • Love those chords at 2:25. Great playing.

  • This is awesome. The tone really turns me on musically.

  • I saw S.R.V. in his last concert series before the helicopter crash (God, rest his soul.) You know I think you're fantastic man, but those opening licks could have been a b-i-t cleaner. I'm not saying I could have played them any better....far from it. I love watching your stuff, though. Keep it up!!!

  • @MrDanielBrisk I did my best but I'm no SRV, that's for sure.

  • @completeguitartutor Please don't misunderstand me. I think you're fantastic! What methods would you attribute to being able to play that way? Did you study formally? Just read a LOT of tabs? What's your secret, man?

  • @MrDanielBrisk A lot of ear training goes a long way. And 23 years of playing. However, I would recommend a dedicated guitar teacher who can coach you to success, rather than trying to do it on your own.

  • @completeguitartutor Thanks for the guidance! Until then, my friend I look forward to your future posts.

  • @completeguitartutor Thanks much, friend! I was able to find a competant and dedicated instructor who is ready to hammer me on technique! I'm really excited about it, too. Thanks for the advice and PLEASE....KEEP MAKING YOUR VIDEOS! THEY'RE AWESOME!

  • Man that is great playing and tone. I just picked up an axe-fx would you be able to share that patch? It would be appreciated and well used.

    Thanks

  • @pistolgrip69 Sorry, it doesn't exist any more and numerous firmware upgrades since I recorded this have made it impossible to dial it in the same way. I suggest you go to the Axe Forum and make a similar request. In my experience sharing presets is rarely satisfactory anyway as everyone's setup is different. You'd be better off experimenting to create your own version.

  • a lil too much compressor, or maybe gate?

  • wow thats an excellent patch and your playing is truly inspirational! You really nailed the tone and im glad to see the axefx can deliver that SRV tone.

  • @dwg116 Many thanks. 8)

  • Great!

  • Great tone man!!! Have you posted this on the Axe forum?

  • @shotgunndunn Yes, long ago.

  • vaugn uses 11's i believe?

  • @tangypasta no, he used a mix of 13's and 14s.

  • @tangypasta I swear I read he used 13's!!! Judging by the depth of his calluses and the fact that he had to glue them on frequently... I'd say it's pretty believable.

  • @tangypasta vaughan used 13's gauge, high action and high frets, 5 tensors and heavy picking to get his signature sound (despising all of his equipment used such as tubescreamers, wahs, dumbles, fenders marshalls etc...

  • God, this tone is so SRV, but you should try to hit the notes more aggressive to sound more like Stevie.

  • everithing's is nearly perfect...except for those 009s.... :)

  • Nice tone, amazing Joe Dirt

  • Men ithink you need no other p.u.´s, by the way which string gauge are you using on these video?

  • @angelquinones

    Only 009s.

  • wowthank for reply EXELENT sound again. . .

  • Great playin' ! Great Tone ! amazing cover mate !

  • You are playing good but you have to change your pickups noisless=toneless. But yourself fralins or other good boutique pickups IMO.

  • @pismuzisyen

IMO they're the best hum-cancelling Strat pickups around. I need this guitar to play rock stuff too and single-coils can be a problem. I grant you these don't sound as good as real single-coils.

  • @completeguitartutor Nicely answered to someone basically saying that you've got no tone! I reckon you've got a great tone, and great chops. (And fuck all the wankers comments about string gauge, you sound great).

  • This was so awesome! I love the sound. :)

  • nice shirt man

  • @Jeddystardog

Cheers. I like it too. :D

  • @completeguitartutor Hey I'm really impressed with your playing!

Do you like the Fender Hot Noiseless Pickups? Do they go well with the maple fretboard?

Also could you possibly do a video showing the clean tone?

    Thanks. :)

  • nailled!!! you are the man!!! really!!! its not the easiest song by srv!!! really advanced techniques

  • Hi, could you tell me what amp sim your using in the axe? Thanks

  • @Jacksonsdad08

    It's the Brownface.

  • are you using the polychorus?

  • @Estebanfuturo

It's the stock rotary speaker sim.

  • great tune

    great strat

    great side burns

    x

  • beautiful job on the tone! is this a stock preset or one of yours?

  • Thanks. It's my own preset.

  • nailed srv...well played too? are you on the fractal patch exchange? cant wait to get one of these things.

  • Nah, I'm waiting for the editor to be rehauled as i just find the whole patch-exchange thing unuseable right now.

  • 5/5 mate

  • Love the playing - it's good inspirational stuff. I'm just going to have to keep practicing...

  • Great SRV tone. Would it be possible for you to play the same thing (or only a part of it) with your live rig Poweramp / miced cab to hear the difference between the direct and the live sound? I think there is a difference.

  • Great tone and great playing. That's what I was missing in the Axe-Fx videos on Youtube, a good SRV tone. Now I'm defenetelly sold on this unit. Can you tell me which pickups you're using?

  • Sure. They're Fender Hot Noiseless.

  • Nice
