Oil makes up 80% of Venezuela's exports because the government take over in other export sectors has slowed their production. They can't afford not to sell us oil because they completely depend on our capitalist economy to keep them afloat.

However since 90% of state earnings are coming from oil it was not very hard since the oil price in 1999 was extremely low while it under Chavez time, as under Putins, the price rised to extreme levels. That's why Russia and Venezuela seemed to have good leaders, which they don't. Venezuela is one of the most dangerous places in the world today and poor economic outlook (as political). imagine if we had a socialist democratic society in africa without any international interference, nationalising our own companies that own oil and diamonds and using most of that money gained from exporting to build up national services, we would flourish and africa would be most definitely one of the richest if not the richest continents in the world.

he says it in the bbc interview, when he first started he was gulible and believed in the capitalist system. but then he changed, when he changed thats when they organised a coup to overthrow him and stoped U.S. funding to make it look like he was responsible for his countrys troubles.

@HOSTILEGOSPEL1269 He calls for a "new world order" just like Bush 1 and 2, but he claims to be against some of the globalization trade agreements so its hard to say. Hopefully he is working against the world government or at least not cooperating fully. All I would say is be skeptical and do more research on this guy. I wonder if their government is involved in drug trafficking like the U.S. in Columbia?

Hugo is a dictator that wont let opposition and controls the media, nationalizing companies and even threats on Colombia (our allies) in invading. Just because the US can use their bases. That uses money for army and not for comforting the people that doesn't have water/electricty service, and had been 10 years in office and it wont look he will come down soon. Sounds pretty much like a dictator and yea Nationalizing because is part of the agenda is different from bailing out. Companies bring services that people want, hence providing better quality of life, even better wages.
