  • u guys looked really good for beginners! the only thing i would say is to just have a more forward trot coming in to the lin

  • aww its cute! those horses obvealsy love it..they dont have to work to hard..and there really well trained

  • those horses are so good for those kids! it's adorable, i love when horses take care of their beginner riders.

  • I don't really practice barrel racing, I don't want to burn him out, he does well without practice, and I don't do it seriously enough to drill him. I just started eventing this year. I spend most of my time at the barn so time is not an issue.

  • well it still requires time in the saddle. and yeah i know what you mean, my life pretty much revolves around the barn.

  • yes very much so. I have a mare I do most of my english and all my eventing on.

  • you event as well as barrelrace? wow! you must find it hard to find time to train with both, lol.

  • Im not real worried about him, he is not really a jumper, I just do little stuff on him, he hasen't ever dumped me over jumps, he just kinda slows down and the last jumps aren't pretty. He dosen't hurt, he is just REALLY tickelish and doesn't like leg on him, he is more western and barrel racing than english. We don't use a crop on him he dosen't need it.

  • ohhh i see. :) he's a sensitive boy.

  • I do agree that they need more trot and maybe a little more horse going up to the bounce line would make it smoother. My gelding dosent do bounces very well, he can be doing a great spped up to them and about 2 or 3 in he just kinda dies and we end up struggling over the rest of the fences. (Please don't tell me more leg, you can't put your leg on my gelding at all. He bucks and crow hops)

  • he bucks and crow hops from leg? hmm. have you checked for pain anywhere? back, teeth, girth? how does he respond to a crop? anyways, good luck!

  • hey u guys wer great ive bin ridin 4 nerli 5 yrs and ive neva sucessfully cleared a jump!! got any tips 4 me coz last tym i jumped i had a nasty fall and then wen i was able to do it agen the horse bucked me off just b4 i was about 2 jump!! so ive lost my confidence completely!! so well done 2 u and ur ponies all of u did great!!there is 1 video of me riding but its just a lil walk. got any tips 4 me??

  • keep your confidence up, if the horses feels you're insecure, he'll take advantage of that, and maybe try jumping in lessons where an instructor could help? I hope you were okay from your falls! good luck!

  • Your Welcome! You are going to be great riders. All it takes is practice. There not struggling on anything you really need to watch closley

  • i just did a bounce for the first time in camp last week.. its easier than it looks.. then again they were little flower boxes lol good job though for your first bounce!!

  • You looked great! Good job! The jumps looked a tad bit short for the horses, as in too close, but you guys know them best. My horse probably would have tried to jump over all three at once. :) Good job!

  • yeah it was strided okay for the horses

it may have been a bit short for travis because he has a larger stride than buddy but it we had made it any bigger buddy wouldn't have been able to make it. but thanks for your comment :)

  • Very, very well done! for a first time, the only real fau3lt that sticks out is you guys are sometimes jumping ahead, but it happens to the best of us. Just try to stay with the horse abit more and you will do awesome!. not saying you didn't do good this time, it was really well done! Especially for the first time.

  • Thank you! I'm happy to read a polite comment with constructive criticism:)

    amanda

  • Don't worry about what other people say because I know the differince. By the way maganh1429 its not speed its percision and impulsion. You obviously dont know much about horses and highly doubt you even have one. Any problems with that. EquestFreak

  • i agree with you EquestFreak. This are two novice riders who were just beginning riding, still learning about this. If you see my reply to meganh1429 from a couple of days ago, I already tried to address the impulsion debate. Thanks for the comment!

  • you guys need more speed...I do those b4 every lesson but there are 5 gymnastic jumps and I know if I dont get my horse moving fast enough we cant do them all.

  • dude! it was our first time! jesus we didn't know anything about speed n all that crap how can u tell anyways our speed from a 3 minute video

  • ummm...ive been riding for eight years and.....the struggle your horses are having is unbareable to watch!poor horses!

  • buddy this was our first attempt! jesus give us a break they got over it just fine, it wasn't even high

  • Okay, so this was an hour lesson. This is 3 minute video, do I need to spell it out for you?

1)We are beginners, we don't care how much you know, how experienced you are etc., we're learning and getting way better. We want constructive criticism, not rude comments.

2)If there was any problem, or "struggle" that was unbearable for the horses, surely we wouldn't be doing that. We are taught how to do this and how to IMPROVE, plus this was our FIRST time.

  • 3)With horses nothing is ever perfect! Doesn't matter how experienced of a rider you are! There is ALWAYS room for improvement. So, as 2 novice riders we are FAR from perfect-we know that, that's why we take lessons, and we do not need your rude remarks.

    Mmk?

So, thank you to Melissa, EquestFreak, lovemeorhateme12 and those who congratulated us on doing our first bounce line lesson.

    Amanda

(I had to break this up into 2 comments, too long:P)

  • they were struggling slightly yes, because of lack of IMPULSION. not speed. I'd expect you to know that after 8 years of riding.

  • their horses dont look like their struggling... they said they are begginera at this they did a great job for begginers! keep up the great work!

  • we obviously went fast enough if we got through

  • actually, it's not speed they need. It's impulsion. They are lacking a bit in impulsion, but speed and impulsion are entirely different things. You could gallop a horse up to a jump (totally unsafe though lol) and there is no garantee that you are going to make it over the jump. If the horse is working through his hind end however, thats impulsion and you will take that jump.

  • when i had my bounce lesson my 3rd time i fell off man did it hurt but i got better

  • reeeli reeeli gud iv bin ridin for 5 yr nd i still carnt jump proply :P lol they doin reeli gud xxx

  • reli reli gd lol i did bounces on my like 10th lesson scary but she looks alot better than i was lol! gr8 position. Mayby trot a likkle bit faster :D

  • They look great, are you sure they are novices? They have a great position when they jump. Their first Bounce Line Lesson probably went a lot better than mine! One thing is that they could have gone a tad bit faster. Great song Melissa! Keep up the good work!

    ~ Katie

  • I just think they should go at a faster trot! Cute vid. Pretty good riders!

  • Melissa that's awesome!:) I love it, i'll sure remember that lesson for a long time!:P

    Amanda

  • wow awesome job! Keep up the good work!

  • very cute vid, they're quite talented even if they are just novices, the horses are super too!

  • I know. They have natural talent, they've only been riding for a year, and they are progressing amazingly fast. The horses are amazing too!

  • aw yay melissa! thanks so much! I love the song! You've gotta send me the vidos please!!!

    -jess :)
