i loved my hero JR. i always adjusted the voice pitch to sound like a big black guy. it was really funny when his security alarm would go off like that. he wasnt very good at games though. i'd always beat him in blackjack and he's really bad at cowboys and robots XD
OMG. My father and I built one of these after I got one as a holiday gift. Man...the smell of solder always makes me think of the holidays. Crap this takes me back. Hero Jr. is somewhere in some closet at my parents house...thank you thank you.
Wow. thanks so much for sharing this... I _LOVE_ footage of machines starting up, I _LOVE_ machines personifying themselves, I _LOVE_ machines who use full day of week and month names, and I _LOVE_ that shade of red/maroon on her... thanks for uploading the cool content :-)
I love Hero Jr!! I still have mine at my parent's house. Only he is missing both panels, and I had to re-solder and touch up his wiring after I bought it in the late 90's. I noticed you guys had to refit a different battery, too. Hero Jr couldn't do much without his cartridges, but I loved using HJPL and his extra personality cartridge.

LOL! Yes it does. Funny most all the robots in that era sounded like Q-bert. I think it's because they used the same sound processor at the time.
