  • nice video ! hope u can make one like this clearly underwater . thanks.. u can see mine .. fishzilladiver channel.

  • nice video , where can i get a snakehead fish from .

  • don't get caught with a live one in a home tank. they still havent figured out how they got here. you could be banned from ever owning pets again to fines to even jail time depending on what state you live in.

  • wot? illegal because invasive? why are humans aren't illegal? we are very invasive species too!! LMAO

  • you say they are invasive but people just dont know how to take care of them i had one for years and it finally died. i need to find somewhere i can buy another. if you know where i can get one email me at d_rock0982@yahoo.com thank you

  • dont say this is snakehead man youre wrong this is called giant snakehead and in malaysian language giant snakehead is called TOMAN and snakehead is called HARUAN and malaysians Eat HARUAN and pet TOMAN because TOMAN is Damn Fierce and they can eat big fishes..

  • @kanan72 that is actually a northern snakehead. giant snakeheads are black and white.

  • invasive species?..aren't humans the most invasive?..i mean,we even dream about invading outer space one day with our rockets n colonizing onto other planets.

  • Wouldn't that make us invasive species.

  • @TheBlake420 420 all day

  • @msh464 Every day!

  • We had one of these when I was a kid, when they were readily available at pet stores in the midwest. It's an incredible predator and grows very fast. We learned about its proclivity for leaving the water when we found it dried out on the floor one day. It had to push its way out of a closed tank.

It was a few years later when we heard about them being a threat to the ecosystem. In truth, we were too far north for it to go native but I can see why you wouldn't want to introduce these.

  • haha It's like "hey...hows it goin?

  • shut up!!! snakeheads are the best!!! have u guys ever caught one??? it has the strongest fight!!!!!

  • Look on the bright side invasive fish like the snakehead, walking catfish, gars, etc will have a higher chance of their species to survive extinctions, and within 1,000 years they can become sub species that are only found in the place were there ancestors were introduced. Of course there are going to be casualties to this but remember Homo Sapiens.

  • i have a snakehead too in my tank

  • i saw a lot of this kind of snake head in chinese supermarket. they sell them as food. i heard that they are very nutritious and delicious.

  • Nice Northern Snakehead

  • Gorgeous fish!!! Huge too!! haha =D

  • its a snake melon!

  • cant be mad at the fish , do you think the fish had some eveil plan to leve its native home and come here,, you can only blame the people who let them go in our waters,, they should get big truble if not go to jail,,, for the right person this would be a great pet, i would love to own one.

  • ill sell u a snakehead

  • the dec should ban idiots that release snake heads in the local lakes. theyre more harmful then those snake heads alone. these creatures are awsum pets and give us fish tank heads sumthing to have pride about since there so agresive and beautiful. baning them is taking it a bit to far. how ab out simply aresting ppl for releasin them and making the punishment very high so that ppl wont dare risk it. if you told ppl that they would be shot at location for releasing the fish. i doubt theyd do it.

  • Hope you all like having Snakeheads destroying your native fish in your rivers and lakes..Cause thats why the legislation is in place so that does not happen.. same thing will Asian carp they just destroy the local environment systems..I don't know about you but i like the ability for my family and friends to be able to enjoy going in the water and not having to worry about getting bit by one of these non-native species..In no way is a snakehead practically harmless..

  • The ban goes too far becouse there is only a couple out of about 30 species that can even survive here. You make sound like every fish enthuseist that desiers to keep one of these fish an irresponsable moron, this is not true, and besides that the people who would release them in the first place will most likely ignore the law anyway and get one. I support the ban on the the norhtern snakehead, but the less hardy tropacal species should be avalable, it works in the UK.

  • @notabear

dude ur a dumb fuck u know nothing about snakeheads......"and we must kill all the white people too for coming here and stealing our land''

  • lets use those big words... i do have no problem with people having them as pets. but the problem is that how do you regulate irresponsible pet owners?

@ chuniebahn So you know a lot about snakeheads?

  • do u have the internet in ur mud hut then?

  • never heard of a snakehead biting anyone must be those wonderful hollywood movies about snakeheads. anyuway enjoy your nightmares about one biting you. They are wonderful sport fish and it looks like you may get to find how and why soon enough.

  • Isn't this fish's scientific name Ophiocephalus?

  • It have been revised.

Its now Channa and Parachanna for the african species

  • sick dude

  • where can i get one. can you buy them.

  • Wow!

    Beautiful Creature.

I guess this fellow has received good care.

  • i dont know much of snakeheads but my snakehead survived about 24 hours on my floor, it was stuck to it so i had to water around it to get it of the floor... i know that becous my mom didnt dare to pick it up when i was away...soooo yeah it CAN survive pretty long on land...ps..the beast still lives, check my vid its the one there

  • yeah, it can survive roughly around 3 days out of water

  • Good shot! Alot ignorant fools are mislead by outrageous reports that northern snakehead can live outa water for 3days? LOL! Even walked on land? Those are idiots i tell u...i caught 4 of them, 1st fish died the moment i landed the 4th fish. Max they survived few hours on land AND they definately can't walk on land! So called scientist really made themselve look retard publishing irresponsible reports. Haha! These are aggressive fish by nature & yes they deliver nasty bites. Comparable to pikes!

  • they're illegal because they're misunderstood. idiots like retroooo191 exagerrate the facts about this fish causing the government to overreact and ban them from the US. these dumbasses just judge them and have never even taken a chance to raise one.

  • They;re illegal because they're an invasive species that destroy whole ecosystems.

  • so what have they done to the ecosystem so far? has the entire population of bass died? what do u know what happens under water?

  • Hey retard FLAMINGFURY.

Snakehead is an invase species from ASIA. It destroys entire ecosystems by feeding on large amounts of smaller fish such as perch and sunfish, which in turn leaves the larger fish like pike and muskie with little to eat, and all in all destroys. I saw one of these fish in my marina and it took down a duck.

  • well did u know they also pay back the food they eat? snakeheads mate up to 5 times a year and make up to 150k baby snakeheads. most of them are then eaten by bigger fishes as a replacement of food eaten by adult snakeheads. do some research before u start acting like an idiot. stop reading the fucking tabloids and start paying attention to some real facts before u make an ass of yourself.

  • If you watch the video Scott Broom Invasive Species you'll see that snakeheads had little effect on the ecosystem.

  • thanx for waking up.

  • There are plenty of people who do know what happens. Just because you don't doesn't mean it's ok to be releasing invasive species into the wild. Invasives do all sorts of damage all over the world. Do a little research before posting stupid comments.

  • who the hell was talking about releasing snakeheads? if i had one i would keep it. im a responsible fish keeper so dont asume that anyone who owns a snakehead would just throw it out like that. northerns are far less agressive than the tropical kinds( the kind in the video "snakehead vs big ass bass"). king snakeheads can kill native species, but guess what. they die in our cold climate water. only northern snakeheads can survive but they're much less harmful to the native fish. u dont know shit

  • the DEC is a bunch of idiots who cant even tell the difference between any fish species. its their responsibility to take care of them but instead, they poison lakes and ponds just to try getting rid of something pratically harmless. instead, they kill more natives than snakeheads do. im sure u must be one of those idiots

  • i totally agree, they wanna work on banning beautiful lion fish now.

  • the dumbass DEC wanna ban everything. they were harassing a guy and his harmless 10year old snakehead. those idiots are trying to ban the lionfish because some dumbass kid hurt himself by touching one.

  • eah that 10 year old snake head story was by me, i believe they gave him a partial pardon but tehy still wanna kill his fish by freezing it to death. They banned snapping turtles over hear as well, which is dumb because there are plenty of snapping turtles 5 blocks away from me in the lake.

  • they're gonna ban everything in the end. they think about all the negativity of just about everything. u shouldnt give out info about banned fish near your lakes. watch out in case some dumbass tries to poison that lake like they do everywhere. in california, they tried to blow up a pond just to get rid of a few pikes.

  • hahahah holy shit, for pikes? pikes are legal to own here, tehre is no snake heads by me in the wild, just snapping turtles but snapping turtles are just illegal to own no illegal to live here, its very weird. On top of that we arn't allowed to own any pythons here either or any constricting snakes that get somewhat big.

  • No but you clearly don't fully understand the isuues here and so whatever you say is pretty irrelavant. And what's with the attitude? Do you always get this angry at comments on youtube?... Kind of dumb when you think about it.

  • i guess u dont read what i type or u dont wanna admit that i may be right. and of course everyone gets an attitude when they're arguing with someone. kinda dumb when u talk about it.

  • does that (destroy) include trees and turning forests into cities?

If so then we must destroy humans also as they worse invasive species.

  • @geckoadventure yeah thats true i had that thing in my head from a year ago we are the worse invasive spiecies in the world we've destroyed evrey thing all those good will thingy's like save the wales and stuff most of them we've caused so the world would be a lot beter of without the humans but you know wath i love life and my friends and family

  • @SilentCritic THATS WHY THEY ARE SOOO COOL

  • why are they illegal?

  • Doesn't look friendly.

  • they can live on land to O.O

  • fuckin piefaces bringing all these fucked up ass fish over here..

  • yes!! how much do you want?..

  • hey chinky..stop selling illegal fish..

  • im not selling!.. just give it away!..

  • disgusting comment whats your definition of pieface?

why is the fish fucked up? its a survivor same as CROCS and ALLIGATORS wyou should be proud it has survive this long.

  • when it swims everything they find they kill and there from thailand this dude ask for some and cook them it's jsut some superstition if u eat the soup of it it make su feel better and crap but then the person that gave the dude the snakehead he had to much so he put it in a pond and tha femile snakehead grew 150,000 babies 1 female provides 150,000 babies

  • oooh wow

  • dont these things kill everything?

  • cool!!

  • i would throw in some little kid i find off the street.

  • fishzilla :P

that's how they call these fishes, right?

  • The Northern Snakehead. Brilliant video mate.

  • wher can i get on of these snake head fish in california

  • sadly they are illegal

  • i did not know it was illegal to have these fish in NJ i have 3 in my tank right now. they are friendly and i can put my hand on them inside the tank......until feeding time lol here come the goldfish!!!!!

  • I think so because my lfs stopped selling them for a while but i loved having them.

  • i saw a muskie fight a snakehead muskie kiked its ass

  • cool!!!

  • In New jersey its illegal to thow these guys back when and if you catch them, If you happen to catch one, The dept. of fish and game want to know when and where, Anyone know of any Jersey catches?

  • not yet but im sure that they are coming ..

  • them things where just found in the lake in sullivan county new york

  • well fagget666 seems to believe that fish adapt to their aquarium.. well truth of the matter is most all fish that have the capabilities of getting big will in fact outgrow the enviroment. IE: a red belly pacu in a 10 gallon tank will in fact outgrow it quite fast. and yes these fish are dangerous and getting a license to own is near impossible.

  • not a good pet incase your wondering...

    1.they bite and are aggressive.

    2.they get big

3.they can escape the aquarium if they want to they have a primitive lung that allows them to breathe air.

  • great pet, make sure they cant get out, provide a large tank, throw in a fish or any other small animal and enjoy the show

  • i use to feed em with small fish, , tadpoles, insect, and shrimp.. no mice!! I luv mice and hamsters!..

  • can you buy these if yes where

  • canada in some provinces

  • which provinces

  • it looks nothing like a cichlid other then the fact it has gills and a mouth.

  • Very nice! What kind of Snakehead is it?

  • you are all fucking idiots. you dont want to buy one of these things. snakeheads can grow up to 4 ft long and can knock over aquariums or crack glass if they charge at it. they are very aggressive and will eat anything small enough to fit in their mouths. theyre illegal to own because they have a primitive lung that enables them to walk across land for short distances. when they go to a water source they eat all the native fish. theyre a problem where i live and you would be a fool to buy one.

  • i like that you no wat's wrong with these animals they aren't native and where i live they a problem too....

they were released becaz it was supposed to be made into healing soup but the person got better so they cereominously released it into new water where it is dominating the ecosystem

  • They adpat to the aq, you fucking moron.

  • they still grow to 3 ft. long, they are still very aggressive and carnivorous, and if they get loose they can still destroy entire ecosystems, you fucking moron.

  • THEY ADAPT TO THE FUCKING AQUARIUM, what part do you not understand? In the wild, yes they will be over 3feet long, it's not the point in a fucking aq.

  • obviously you've never taken care of fish before. it doesnt matter what size aquarium you have, they will still grow to be big.

  • obviously your logic is really fucked up.

  • whatever man. im not going to insult you, because i know thats what you want. ive been taking care of six tanks for four years, and some of the fish i breed go for a lot at auctions.

  • the most aggresive snakehead is giant snakehead (channa micropeltes) found in Southeast Asia especially in Thailand and Malaysia.they can grow to more than 4 feet and measuring more than 30 kilos. they are known to attack people in the water and considerably dangerous!

  • where did you get this inforamtion from? soiunds like a myth on the attacking people. 30KG not seen but have seen a 15+ kg one and 10kg ones.

  • i want one of those THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!

  • i want one as a pet. but they are cool

  • thats cool

    big mean

    manly fish

feed it mice or something living and make a video

  • ..just like a python's head

But isnt it illegal to own one of those?

  • yes its illegal to own in the US in Asia their now since their natives their...you can find these everywhere in the rice fields and wetlands in the Philippines and in Thailand...basically everywhere

  • made in vietnam

  • Crazy!

  • you can buy one in any pet store up here. not illegal in Canada

  • he is beautifull!

(legal or not)i will buy me a snakehead!

  • were can u get thes things from wit out catchin it

  • had loads of snakeheads, quality fish. the red snakehead is savage:)

  • These things are like cobras. If you want to own them move to their native land. They will screw things up here beyond belief.

  • I really want one, anyone from the yay that has one get at me asap

  • I'm endlessly pissed that Uncle Sam says we cannot own this fish in a tank anymore. And for everyone who says "blah blah irresponsible owners will put them in a lake etc" well look at pitbulls. How man kids a year die because of pitbulls? How many kids a year die from Snakeheads? Not enough I'll tell you that.. haha

  • Yeah, who is the dickhead that decided that people can own tigers and alligators and poisonous snakes but not these....

  • what?!? You keep it in an aquarium... and it cant live out of water... how can they be dangerous enough to not own one. unless its because they're endangered or something

  • The eat dogs & cats aswell, they are mental

  • you're seriously retarded.

  • BAD ASS FISH DUDE!

  • Snakeheads caused quite a stir when they were caught recently in FDR park in South Philadelphia. FDR park (AKA League Island; AKA The Lakes) was my old stomping grounds when I was young. Back then there were mostly carp, catfish and eels in those lakes that communicated with the Delaware River but now the Snakeheads have arrived. I suspect this Asian species was released by a member of the growing Asia population in South Philadelphia. Now all other native specied will disappear.

  • why cant it be released by a westerner?

    i suspect otherwise ;)

  • there really bad

    they eat everything

i was learnin bout em in science class and at full size are big enough to eat an infant child

also they can stay out of water for up to 3 days. there really dangerous

  • There's no reason as westerner couldn't have. However; this fish is not native to the United States but Asia. There is, in fact, a growing Asian population in Philadelphia. Asians eat this fish. What would a westerner be doing with one of these in the first place? Does that make any sense or do you still think I'm just being racist?

  • yo come fish with me! the 24th of may is like free fishing day, no need fishing license, im planning to hunt them to see for them first time in my life lol. gonna bag them home, freeze and i guess send it in like what the PA Wild life/fishiery website thingy said

  • Heck, I'd have it mounted if I were you!

  • I'd like to see this punk's reaction with an electric eel in the tank. Ha Ha Ha!

  • Snakehead is good eating. Especially in soup. Mmmmm yum yum!

  • Their illegal now.

  • The piranha would just be a snack..

  • somebody should put a snakehead and a piranha in a tank to see who of the two gets eating first!!!

  • piranha wont stand a chance

  • I heard those things bite the sh** out of anything it comes across and can crawl and ;live on land for up to four days! Anyone in a lake chock-full of these snakeheads is screwed to the extreme.

  • Snakeheads are Awesome predators, i have been keeping all species of predatory fish, including most species of piranhas, African Tiger Fish, even pike! And the red snakehead is one of the most toughest and aggressive fish ive come across, i had to house my 14" red snakehead with a 12" black piranha years ago due to one tank cracking and the piranha could not get the better of him, and that same piranha would munch through terrapins like wafers!

  • ur smart....deee heee

  • awsome its a snake likw fish

  • Hi i live in England and we have found them in our streams now in Lincolnshire they do look nasty the fisherman who caught one in our town bit more than he could chew one big snakehead fish on bad as not from our little island.

  • What he said :p I wanna catch me a 50lb snakehead lol

  • I read an article yesterday suggesting that they are becoming quite rampant in the UK now as someone brought them over in an aquarium and let some loose, which is not good at all as they are considered more aggressive that piranhas. They can live on land for up to 4 days. People have poisoned lakes to rid them, which is not good in its very nature. Will be interesting to read up on more.

  • ya i read that same article

  • Also where I got my information, pretty bad situation, eh?

  • Yeah, no good at all.

Jellyfish too. They're getting pretty rampant all over. Pretty interesting creatures for sure. If you look up videos on youtube, there's some pretty cool shots.

  • Dang old Cloverfields of the deep, mang.

  • Snakeheads are not that bad like other big fish(wallye, pike, bass, gar ect.) they eat fish smaller than theirselves!the only difference is that snakeheads have larger teeth.

  • Looks like a Pike to me!

  • did you know snakehead are not show fish. In Asia they are food. snakehead, catfish, bass, trout are all food... By the way stir fry and deep fry snakehead are awesome!

  • That close view of the fish's face reminds me of those bug things in Star Wars Episode 2

  • wat u feed that thing

  • any fish

  • new born puppies

  • That is imaculate

  • haha prolly

  • Channa obscurus.

  • IT HAS RATTLESNAKE MARKINGS FOR GOD"S SAKE!!!!!!

IT MUST BE DESTROYED!!! THE T-REX OF FISH only that it's not as endearing as a T-Rex would actually be. I could see having a T-Rex as a pet and loving it, but this thing is just an abomination!!! The devil did make his own creatures, and this is one of them!

  • lol if these animals keep walking on solid ground they could prob get legs in about couple of 100 years well if the evolution theorie is right

  • In southeast Asia, snakeheads are considered a delicacy. Here in the state I caught one that hit my lure like a lightning. The fish was caught and killed. They are nasty looking!!!

  • test

  • And feedings wise, i would feed it variety of food similar to what they would eat in their ecosystem not just pellets. Uncle is a fish enthusiast, owns saltwater and fresh water fishes including several arowanas.

  • test

  • I'm having difficulties posting, i'm hoping that i'm not triple-posting

  • dude thats elagal here

  • arapaima rocks!

  • test

  • i saw one of thos in a canal by my school!! im goin fishin over the weekend.

  • a snakehead fish cn survive without water for 3 days and breath air it can even use it fins to walkon land it will attackanythinh it sees in his way it despreate to surviv so it will do anything it can and also they multiply 5 times a year it can also eat your hand!

  • That creature is cool man. Try pouring in an arowana or an oscar to have a 3 parties face-off. Guess who will win?

  • The snakehead would win it is way bigger then both of those combined

  • Big arro would be waaay bigger then him.

  • but an arowana doesnt have jaws like a snakehead,

and even the smallest kind (i think is the banded one) cannot be touched even by a fully grown arrowana exept when its about the size of your middle finger

  • I didnt say it would be tougher i said it would be bigger. South American Arros can get 4'+.

And any big Arro could eat some Snakeheads. The smaller species only get 6" and would be a snack.

  • The largest snakehead ever recorded was 6ft, the only fish could stand toes-to-toes with snakedhead(the ones i could think at the moment)are: northern pike, and fresh water wolffish.

  • Show me a link of this 6' snakehead? Try more like 4' and more like 2-3' for micropeltes in a tank. Silver Aros can get 4' in a tank and more like 5 in the wild. Have you even had a snakehead? Most of them are not as tough as your making out.

  • Ahh ic, no links allowed, anyways back to the sbj. & check your pm box. With 29 species recognized, I've never said all of them are tough. But nevertheless snakeheads are all natural born predators.

In the wild arowana can get 5ft, i don't doubt that. But is it not possible that snakehead in (areas where no human contact, survives the competition, & plus time) could get bigger than the ones ever recorded?

  • Ask yourself that same question, have you even had arowana or snakehead? It's illegal here(i know that doesn't stop 1 from obtaining & keeping it), if i decided to keep 1, i'd do it right; by being educated & responsible owner & do things the right way. Snakehead in fish tank is not really good idea(again that doesn't stop 1 from doing it), me ...the snakehead would be in a pond(or similar setup) where area & volume of water is spacious.

  • Never had a snakehead they are illegal here too but i know someone who has 3. I have owned both Asian and Aussie Aros. Why is snakeheads in a tank a bad idea? The small species are especially fine in tanks but even the big ones are ok in big (300g+) tanks.

  • Dwarf snakeheads... they are cute & verocius at the same time, not as much agressive as other species.

Yeah, i heard plenty successfull stories of dwarf snakehads in 20 gallon tanks, i'd put 1 channa gachua in there, 2 will do just fine i guess.

  • Do not compare an oscar/arowana with snakehead. Arowana is known for surface feeders, arowana doesn't have razor set of teeth or strong jaw like snakehead. So, to say put an arowana or oscar with snakehead is just ridiculous(assuming they all fully grown). Snakehead would win easily!!! O hell put a fully grown snakehead with 5 fully grown arowanas, the arowana won't do a thing, well i maybe a little exagerrating, but then snakehead is in totally different level of predator than arowana.
