@danversdon your right on that, i have two copies of this 78 rpm one on the original Vita light color blue label with black lettering and one on the Dot red label with silver lettering Jail Bird is on the filpside..
@artemisx123 I remember going there with my dad during that time in his new '57 Olds 98 Starfire! Man, you'd have thought President Eisenhower and his son had just pulled up in that car (that's what I thought, anyways). LOL
I had been collecting 45 rpm vinyl for over 20 years by the time I found a copy of this track in '84 in downtown NYC on VITA RECORDS for $9.
Although the label is in sorry condition, it plays well. I finally felt like my collection was complete - of course it wasn't as there would always be something else on the way to acquire.
You can clearly hear how this is one of the influential rock and roll records and music today isn't performed or structured nearly this well.
You're the first person I ever ran into who was at the concert...I wish I could remember who else was on the bill....anyone that you can remember... Hunter Hancock from KGFJ was the MC...what a great show it was!
I saw Sonny Knight at my first Rock & Roll show at the Paramount Theater in Los Angeles, I was in Jr. High. Others on the show were, the Penguins, Don Julian, The Carlos Bros., The Masked Phantom Band, The Olympics, others I can't remember, I think The Clovers, and James Brown...at the Paramount Theatre in Los Angeles..this was a very expensive show, $3.00, but you have to remember, it included a movie. A couple of years later, it cost $7 to see Jackie Wilson... the best investment of my life!
This is the best version of this song !!!!!

That's unbelievable!! Inflation is just a scam to screw us!! I used to see 2 movies for 35 cents. Those were the days! Great song, though.
