What was good about Soul/R&B/Funk music back in the 70's and 80's is that most bands had their distinctive sound. You could tell The Gap Band from Cameo from EWF from Prince from Parliament-Funkadelic.from Zapp.

Nowadays, everyone sounds the same. Especially with that Autotune bullshit.

Love it! Brings back good memories. I was only 8 when this came out, but I totally remember going skating and to the game room jamming to this. Love this old R&B stuff! Cameo, Earth Wind and Fire, Kool and the Gang, Lionel Richie, Rick James, Dazz Band, Shalamar, Lakeside, DeBarge... Man, they just don't make music like this anymore.
