Pat downs are a part of security NOT intelligence. Pat downs are useful when we have reason to believe someone is a threat. They are an abuse of power when they are used ubiquitously. When you assume that everyone is a potential threat then you've gone from security to paranoia. If I thought that everyone was potentially out to get me then I'm paranoid, but if someone gives me a reason, then I'm being responsible.

Pat downs are a part of security NOT intelligence. Pat downs are useful when we have reason to believe someone is a threat. They are an abuse of power when they are used ubiquitously. When you assume that everyone is a potential threat then you've gone from security to paranoia. If I thought that everyone was potentially out to get me then I'm paranoid, but if someone gives me a reason, then I'm being responsible.

No racial profiling is needed to selectively decide who needs to be pat down. Proper intelligence can highlight potential threats. This is beyond crazy. Why would you need to feel a 95 yrs old woman's crotch. TSA workers are nothing but a bunch of perverts. But the people asked for more 'protection'. Had they scolded the daughter because the elderly lady's depends were full I could understand that. A baby's diapers smell bad enough, image the smell of an old land on a plane with recycled air and everyone smelling it added to the smell of other unwashed bodies. Not nice. But they did not do that. They wanted to cop a feel.
