I'm not a huge fan of HSUS, but you attempt to link them to that fringe group by citing a "paid advertisement" in the New York Times. A paid advertisement is not a story written by a journalist and can have little to no actual truth in it. You should have cited something else to prove the link...I'm sure that there are other documents out there that show that Paccelle spoke at that group's event.

Under Prop B, responsible breeders will no longer be allowed to buy & administer their own shots/meds. Necessary shots are already costly--but the law would require breeders to load up all their puppies and travel to the vet for EVERY necessary shot/med--exposing young unprotected puppies to needless travel and diseases at the vet clinics. Many vets charge an office call per visit--more needless expenses for reputable breeders already struggling to provide quality puppies at an affordable price

The HSUS liberated 200 dogs from a hoarder in Alabama this week. Just one rescue of hundreds that they do every year: they employ the staff of field workers, transporters, vets, and provide financial assistance (FUNDING), to their PARTNER shelters who take these animals in and place them in forever homes.
@CDLver Wrong again as usual. HSUS only shows up to get "pictures" with neglected animals so they are the ones in the "press" looking like they did it. The fact is they show up with their fancy trucks they used donations for animals for. They use those trucks to pick up neglected animals and then drive them to the local shelter/humane society so they can put their money / vets to work on it. They local humain society or shelter is no way a "partner" or affiliated with HSUS.

They provided the housing, care, and evaluations for some 400 dogs, many of whom were placed in forever homes, which was funded by the HSUS.

HSUS trasported and drop off dogs to Missouri Humane society that HSUS picked up from a seize, which was all started by animal activist in the local area. I live in Missouri and am well aware of the case you are talking about. HSUS did not fund it, the most they spent was their gas money in those fancy trucks they purchased with donations provided to them by people thinking it is going to help animals.

I cannot debate the fact that a cow must bear a calf in order to produce milk. This is an obvious statement. The rest of your statement, however, is of questionable origin. An iron free diet would be a bit counter-productive to the process of raising the calf. HSUS is not a valuable source of information on dairy farming for the record. An agricultural school library may lead you to more reputable sources for proper herd management.

Farmers can't exactly afford to keep cows as pets, they need to at least be able to milk the cows, otherwise it's becomes rather difficult to look after the cows.
People don't need to drink milk meant for calves. The calf is brutally removed from it's mother at one day old, tied up in a crate the rest of it's life and then slaughtered for veal. Disgusting cruelty.
Dairy cows do not need to have calves to give milk, in fact it releives them when they are milked, they cannot function properly if they are not milked, and if calves were taken from their mother at one day old their would not be enough meat to feed a bird. I disagree with testing cosmetics on animals, people can live without cosmetics, but right now any other forms of animal testing for illnesses are too unpredictable, the least scientists can do is make sure the animal is as comfortable as possible.

They are trying to change the laws on animal rights, yes animals need to be treated well and given good living conditions even if they are being farmed but trying to change the law so that you can't eat meat isn't quite guiding people away from it. A paid advertisement is not a story written by a journalist and can have little to no actual truth in it. Animals that already have clean warm beds food & water who will be gotten rid of. Shelters won't take on this many dogs and will not be able to properly care for them. Under Prop B, responsible breeders will no longer be allowed to buy & administer their own shots/meds. Necessary shots are already costly--but the law would require breeders to load up all their puppies and travel to the vet for EVERY necessary shot/med--exposing young unprotected puppies to needless travel and diseases at the vet clinics. Many vets charge an office call per visit--more needless expenses for reputable breeders already struggling to provide quality puppies at an affordable price

The fact is they show up with their fancy trucks they used donations for animals for. They use those trucks to pick up neglected animals and then drive them to the local shelter/humane society so they can put their money / vets to work on it. They local humain society or shelter is no way a "partner" or affiliated with HSUS.

They provided the housing, care, and evaluations for some 400 dogs, many of whom were placed in forever homes, which was funded by the HSUS.

HSUS trasported and drop off dogs to Missouri Humane society that HSUS picked up from a seize, which was all started by animal activist in the local area. I live in Missouri and am well aware of the case you are talking about. HSUS did not fund it, the most they spent was their gas money in those fancy trucks they purchased with donations provided to them by people thinking it is going to help animals.

To produce milk a cow must give birth. FACT. The calf is removed at one day old and for the next few months is tied up in solitary confinement in a crate, fed an iron free liquid diet and then slaughtered for veal Other methods are to shoot them straight away or collect the heifers together and deprive them of their mother. Milk production is cruel and humans have no need for it.

I cannot debate the fact that a cow must bear a calf in order to produce milk. This is an obvious statement. The rest of your statement, however, is of questionable origin. An iron free diet would be a bit counter-productive to the process of raising the calf. HSUS is not a valuable source of information on dairy farming for the record. An agricultural school library may lead you to more reputable sources for proper herd management.

I guess feeding dairy calves with bottles of milk 2 times a day and reading the labels on the products used isn't considered "doing my homework" for you, but HSUS also makes statements directly against the CDC and WHO (refer to their statement about H1N1 and the direct correlation to agriculture then read CDC and WHO statements about them). There is no correlation to HSUS and "the truth."

@ih1206, the HSUS does not dictate to the public what they should and should not eat, they merely make suggestions that educate the public to the health risks of eating certain foods. Meat, for instance, causes impotence when eaten in large quantity and often.

Paul McCartneys wife had the same veiws as the HSUS, she was against any type of animals testing, she got cancer and took drugs and medicines that had been tested on animals, it's different when it's life and death. I disagree with testing cosmetics on animals, people can live without cosmetics, but right now any other forms of animal testing for illnesses are too unpredictable, the least scientists can do is make sure the animal is as comfortable as possible.

ALL chicks that end up in production are sorted on a conveyor belt . The males are ground up alive. The only kind way to keep chicken is as family pets you have bred yourself. Chickens in the egg industry, are de beaked without pain killers and kept in warehouses so tightly packed they can hardly move, pumped with growth hormones and live a miserable life. The slaughter process is also HORRIFIC.
