  • I've been talking to the ships computer... and... it hates me.

  • Or we could just plug it in ourselves...

  • well if you teach a man to fish...

  • wow .. nice :)

  • therandomawsome

Givin this is non optical, cplors, patterns are not relevent. As for other regions, may as well not use any type of electrical device

  • What a waste of money... perhaps wait another 10 years for software to catch up with the dreams of modern designers? Honestly, and I'm not even joking about this, a monkey could have been trained to do this taste faster and cheaper than the fucking machine...

Also what morpher44 suggests would be more than doable (Faraday could have done it like 100 years ago..), plus it would be faster, more reliable, more versatile, and even cooler than plugging something in. Total fuck-fail all around. =/

  • EDIT Bah, meant *task* not *taste*... really not sure how that happened... ^.^

  • @Truthiness231

I was gonna say something like that. Right on

  • Nothing new here except for the slow EM method of alignment.

  • The electrical sensory mechanism seems sound enough to find an outlet, but I believe a small camera with software that can utilize image recognition woul be better in guidng the plug into the socket.

  • Actually, I would think it would be much easier for the robot to find a transformer ... and to INDUCTIVELY draw power from the transformer. No need to plug-in ... just draw energy via inductance. Much easier.

  • This is awesome! Guys, make robots that'll plug stuff in for you and then give me free samples!

  • This is a great invention right up to the point when someone develops a device that can transfer energy easier than a plug.

  • surprisingly ..... boring

  • ....and then the robot unleashes nuclear bombs, preparing for World War 3 against the Mutant Cockroaches.

  • I like the movie "Doppelganger" by Kurosawa. IT's about a robot scientist who realizes he's wasting his time

  • All your outlets are belong to us...

(Plugger Robot) We are here to protect you from the terrible secret of space..

  • A total waste of time. None of you niggers will ever get anywhere with robots of any kind. You're wasteing your time!

  • bitch i can do it in 2 seconds

  • Lawl! xD

  • Awesome comment x')

  • @78577tx LMAO yeeeeeah !!

  • i don't think we have to worry about robots taking over the world anytime soon...

  • Hahahahaha

  • @ghjj12345

    god you are retarded

  • what if it ran out of power before it gets to plug in?

  • Lol that would be hilarious.

  • like the plug just stopped right before its about to plug in xD haha

  • why not just program it with image and shape recognition software...then it would take what?? 1minute or less to plug itself in verses...6minutes. much more efficent than your methode. come on intel, you've made so many vast improvements in cpu/electrical usage in your mainboards and processors..lets do the same for your robots. oh and how about it actually serving a useful purpose. also why not go to the robotics symposium in japan to see how real robots are made.

  • that would probably work. but i think the point is not to find the easiest way to get the robot to plug it in. it's to test this method. sure there are lots of ways to do it, but the point is explore how it to make it work by sensing emitted fields.

  • There are billions of types of plugs out there! And this thing with your plan would work for one? (And types I mean different colors, patterns, and regions)

  • SCIENCE!!

  • ... you couldn't have just plugged it in yourself? =_=

  • your mom could have.

  • what if i want it in the bottom one??

  • its a nice idea... but just takes to long... get up and plug it in for pet sake.

  • how long would it take to make my bed

  • FUCK YOU AND SHUT THE FUCK UP, FUCKING HUMANS.

Get your fucking butts out of the fucking couch an put the fucking robot to fucking recharge on the fucking outlet, fucking motherfuckers.

  • Lmao. Cyborgs FTW.

  • fuck

  • lol

  • gosh just plug it in

  • It's always funny watching robots carry out tasks, they look so dumb. Like a baby or a little kid. Remember Asimo falling down the steps? Or that japanese head bot thing identifying different objects? Pretty cool stuff. I never get tired of these vids.

  • Yes because babies and little kids would precision the outlet by moving it back and forth and looking for thermal activity.

  • You so smot!

  • pretty amazing today.

    but

look up this vid in 20 years for a good laugh.

  • lol true.

  • more faster is grammatically incorrect. wow i never expected to sound like a grade school grammar teacher.

  • coool, but needs to go more faster

  • Now, just do it this time, FASTER. Maybe, you know, boost up the processing power a bit?

  • i could just go over and plug that in myself in about 1second u should make the robot faster

  • By the time he finished plugging it in I could have built a replica of this robot.

  • wow. Robot takes more than a minute to do something a child could do in just over a second.

  • sabriath ..... you're the shit that comment was the best.....

  • By the time he plugged it in, he'd be out of power...lol. Wouldn't it be best to use a dual-eye system to calculate the exact x,y,z position relative to it's arm, then use that calculation to move the arm into an offset position and push the plug in? Or have you not gotten that far in artificial intelligence yet?

  • @sabriath

why dont you write up that code and send it to them

  • get infinityward to help them out, they have great AI for the enemies in mw2 :D

lol jk i know its not the same thing... or is it? o.O

  • @sabriath haha LOL

  • this would be cool if it wasnt so slow

  • Cant wait for Intels T-800 model

  • @MrPackleader lol then a T-1000?

  • hmmm that thing cost around 100k or more to make, it only cost around 10million sperm cells to make a human to plug a fucking outlent IN! JESUS CHRIST....amazing!

  • try around 1 sperm cell, if its lucky enough to find the egg :D

  • can you say skynet in the making

  • Haha, not exactly practical, but pretty cool. Watching stuff like this makes you appreciate biology - the complexity of the greatest super computers falls fairly short of the complexity of a house fly. Computers are really stupid and it is hard to tell them how to do the simplest things.

Hal... open the hatch door, Hal...

  • I can't do that Dave.

  • wth..

  • veeerrry impressive.

but damn it took that long to plug in?!?

  • Aw no no no no don't teach it how to do that! Thats their only weakness!

  • @imtwocats ROFL

  • You jerks, this is called progress. Don't think that robots are super-intelligent AI's in 2010. Stop thinking that the world will be sci-fi like in every american movie.

The least you can do is comment on this scientific progress not saying if the robot is retard, because your computer is even more retard than this robot.

  • Wow, suddenly I feel a whole lot less worried about our impending robot overlords.

  • i feel like i'm in 1975.

  • Nice, but the mechanical logic make tasks to be accomplished very slow slow and since there is no learning and adaptation to new situations and conditions it is very limited. It is not a real change from a 1975 product, although processing capability grew.

  • lol yet another step closer to a world like the terminator movies.

  • there are also wireless chargers nowadays, would be dandy in a robot..

  • This robot would have to do twenty horizonal and vertical scans to find its own junk what a retard.

  • oh crap, now they can plug themselves in!? the next logical step would be to learn to make more of themselves, and then Skynet2....

  • isnt it just faster and easier to just grab the plug in ur self bend over and plug it into the freaken outlet

  • @quintonbob yeah but that defeats the purpose of a robot

  • why woundn't u use a outlet adapter with a sensor in it to allow the robot to follow it and cut this time down signifigantly, you guys realy are just plain dumbasses, no wonder the chinks are so much farther along than us in robot tecnology, because of your stupid wastefull ideas.

  • I bet that scratch on the wall was the robot practicing...LOL

  • nice but this thing is out 3 or 4 year go

  • Neat.

  • what if there is a plug already there?

  • then it uses the other hole and makes sure the balls don't touch

  • dang NICE

  • lol it takes him like 1 min to find it cant u just do it urself i mean forealz ^_^

  • The point is that the robot can survive without a human.

If all robots could do this, we would be a step closer to many imaginary doomsday scenarios.

  • Good Party Game right here. Get smashed and race the robot to see who can plug in the cord the quickest.

  • Hopefully soon we can eliminate the need to plug into an outlet altogether for electronics and only need a wall. Just stick it on the wall and it gets power.

  • Robot then goes "nom nom nom"!

  • oh shut up its a cool invention calm down

  • no way we needs robots to plugs shit in on now?

god bless fucking America for lazy asshole

  • You're an idiot.

This robot is not plugging anything in, it is plugging itself in.

It is acquiring its own nurishment without human assistance.

Robots can live thousands of years if built correctly.

I have an solar autonomous robot crawling around my back yard, and if nothing interrupts or discovers it, it might be still working up until it eventually rust out.

The solar pad will go out eventually too.

    But this robot!

So much power can be taken from a wall!

    This thing could do ANYTHING.

  • lazy god damn fat ass nerds

  • All Your Outlets ...Are Belong To Us.

  • I bet no one will get this except me hahahahahahahahah

  • i think its faster if you just go and plug it yourself!

  • but can it unplug itself? No....

  • why not?

  • it like having sex

  • haha or having sex with a really fat chick it cant find the damn hole

  • i can do better than that

    much much better

    tooooo easy

  • Is this robot porn?

  • another milestone would be if the greater percentage of nerds talked like marvin gaye rather than marvin white.

  • that is a milestone of robot, finally they can "eat"now

  • just like sex

  • i think my grandma is faster then that.

  • Skynet!

  • can u just plug it in.. y does a robot have to do it?

  • It's not even slightly original. John's Hopkins Beast (see wiki) did it in 60-s.

  • nooo! Now we're definitely gonna die((

  • way too slow!

  • we are all die

  • too many actions for a simple task. wouldn't it be simpler to use a camera and image recognition? tiny consumer cameras can detect faces. i think it's simpler to detect a power socket.

  • is that tear in the wall a fail? hehe
