It should be remembered that Elaine Paige played the role on stage complete with costumes and a full cast. She is outstanding in her performance here and there should be no comparison between Elaine and Susan Boyle, though the latter has mega raw talent. Paige is an accomplished and experienced actress in the musical theater. Boyle is just starting out as a recording artist who will do concerts. I give them both credit for using the gifts God has given them respectively.

A lot of musical theater performers could learn a thing from Elanie. I'm classically trained, and had some theater majors in my studio. I hate the "belty" tonality they worked to achieve...I think it takes away from the musicality, and everyone seems to sound the same. Her voice is powerful, identifyable, and the emotions just pour out of the notes when she sings.

I absolutely love this song, and her singing it. Beautiful in cat costume or as Elaine.
