  • ive got a contract here that im willing to sign in blood if the devil will give me reb's skills

  • Kirk is watching.

  • 2 people are deaf

  • he has the most amazing 80s tone and he has kept it to this day!!!

  • i love his tone

  • old school shredding, so nice

  • @UncleJoey12 Reb in this is using a John Suhr Custom Audio head. But live more often than not he will use his Marshall Jcm 800s. Both good amps. But MUCH different sounds. The Marshalls come off a lot Bigger and more 80s. The custom audios are a lot heavier. I dont want to say like a mesa but they are somewhere between like a mesa and a marshall. They are a bit Modern for my likings.

  • reb beach is the best

  • Every time someone taps you always see some EVH Junkie bitching in the comments, Acting like the guitarist is shitting on holy ground because he (GOD FORBID) is doing something another guy is famous for.

Its a guitar people, No one owns anything done on it.

That fretboard is a free world in any ones hands !

Eddie is one of my top 10 favorites BTW, Just had to write that as it annoys the shit out of me

  • @TigertailzBezerk Right ! Totally agree ! Van Halen adapted keyboard voicings to the GTR and updated what guitar could DO and Funtion as .Jeff Beck and many things in classic rock rolling stones hendrix even Bob Dillan were using that Mixolydian /Lydian tonallity that has that elusive suspended sound .Rush "LimeLight" Led Boots" by Jeff Beck Group the Rollings stones used that tonality frequently the bridge to "Can't always get what you want" "Monkey Man" Hendrix "Love or confusion "

  • only reason reb knows of and about tapping is because of eddie van halen. evh is rebs idol hes even said it himself. they have two different tapping techniques as well.. cant compare. and if u havent seen van halen live without a net evh solo than do so. it will change ur life.

  • @MrBenbolt yeah, if EVH isn't shitfaced drunk, that is. Otherwise, we get a show of 'how long can EVH stand up on stage?' And that's not very fun.

  • This is a warm up for this guy? I can't imagine how mind blowing the actual performance was...

  • To shred and be musical is a gift beyond gifts.

  • @FastFoodies yes and its not the case here

  • when reb has 100 albums then tells us how good he is compaired to evh lol!

, his greates was winger, 17 and headed for a heart break

  • Reb Beach just got himselfa new fan!!

  • shredders are like gingers. they have no soul. thats why they get bashed by real guitar players.

  • @mkds1109 Actually, there's plenty of feeling in their playing. You just can't notice it because you're used to guitar players who never put in much time to learn how to play the damn thing. Technique doesn't replace feeling. It just adds something else to notice.

  • I just died from an overdose of 80s guitar technique.

  • what happened to his hair?

  • That is one great guitar tone, and playing

  • i miss his huge afro

  • I wish I could play even close to Reb,Eddie,Jimi.... They are all a lot better at what they do,or did, than most of the people who trash them.

  • one time, at band camp, sounded this good. Then i woke up.

  • Eddie and Reb started tapping about the same time, Reb used it to extend scale runs to start with but progressed it - IMO he is the best player with tapping technique. I like Eddie too and a load of players. Reb is a very under-rated guitarist, Wingers new album is amazing I suggest you check it out. After Winger Alice Cooper took Reb on for a world tour and now he's in Whitesnake, and deserves to be. Alice Cooper and David Coverdale have always chose great Guitarists.

  • You call that warming up? I need to warm up like 2 hours to do this stuff. And slower of course. Damn, Reb is a master when it comes to tapping.

  • Reb kicks ass...

  • fucking awsome

  • Reb Beach is so awesome!!!!!

  • Reb is a much better guitarist than evh, imo evh is way overatted...

  • @IbanezGuitarz87

Ur outta ur mind! No Eddie? No Reb, and all the other finger tapping schmoz as well. Eddie planted the seed, and then you had others that advanced that technique.

I don't give a damn how tecnical someone plays. One edge Eddie has is that Blues-boogie feel that most don't have. It's just a feel or feelin' you have when you play. That can't be taught.

  • @IbanezGuitarz87

I'd be willing to wager any amount of money that Reb wouldn't agree with you :)

  • With all due respect FUCK YOU, Eddie is where he is because he deserves it. The thing iss that Reb Beach is way underrated.

  • I feel its the other way. EVH cant touch Reb . His solos are single string tapping where Reb uses a full neck approach. I like them both but yeah Rebs solos to every song he has ever done are all just sick. And their difficulty is very humbling. Yeah Winger maybe went down as a semi-cheesy 80s band but their tightness and skill is undeniable. And I love them.

  • Reb Beach has alot of great solos in my opinion, The headed for a heartbreak solo for example is almost lyrical.

  • reb is the first one to say he isn't a great guitar player. He is also the first one to speak of how amazing Aldrich, Rhoads, halen, etc are...

He is VERY humble.. and a solid player. Great solo's? Try finding another player of his level with no ego who can fill in for Lynch, Campbell, etc.. .the guys an awesome person/player cut him some slack..

Oh and he uses the patended "Coors light mod".

  • @Reignmansol He's also got a great voice. You get to really hear him more on Pull.

  • How does it feel to know you are a complete retard?

  • Rainbow in the Rose. There ya go.

  • doesent looks like reb beach any more

  • but it sound like him /:D

  • theres no way eddie can tap like reb... the only similiarity is ofcourse the taps...but very different styles..

  • @Cyphilus Reb could have been Eddies disciple, who took the art of tapping to a new level.

Eddie is a God, Reb is Human. They are both too awesome to be true! (but it is!)

  • @Cyphilus Reb is bad ass, but no need to put Down Eddie in any way shape or form. I bet the farm that Reb is influinced by Eddie big time. All guitar players from Reb's era grew up on Eddie. Eddie was an original, and very very few guitar players can say that.

  • @justfine77777 ....WORD

  • @justfine77777 Absolutely! I've been playing for 30 years now, and although Reb has influenced me in the tapping style, Eddie will always be known as the breakthrough axeman. Can you say "Eruption"?

  • Reb Beach is the closes mankind will get to any kind of god.

  • you can make any quitar sound like whatever by changing the pickups, string tuning etc

  • well that stuff but alot of the tone comes form the amp and the pedal rig that is being used

  • false

  • Think Reb took Eddie's car, painted it, and gave it back????

  • I may sound like an idiot but can you get that kinda sound out of a Fender strat?

  • with some single buckers installed and a high gain amp?

a similar one, but not exact or as good.

  • Not a silly question;

You can come close, but it will not be exactly the same. A lot is dependent on the type of pickups/wood/body etc. Lots of science goes into making these guitars.

  • Yes you can....search Brad Gillis and see what he can do with his modified Strat.....humbucker in the bridge position, and a floyd rose tremolo. Strat's can do just about anything if they are setup right. Malmsteen is another good example of what can be done with a Strat. I have found that 90% is the player and 10% is the guitar.

  • @MemphoSlim another example: Jimi Hendrix, the most influential guitarist ever. He did everything, great tone and all, on a standard strat

  • @goodygoody23 okay...and what did Hendrix have to choose from then? ('60s up until '70)? yes, Gibsons, Fenders, etc...Fender had the most "radical" whammy system at the time (commercially available)...i believe Hendrix would have embraced the technology that was to come in the '70s and '80s (advanced whammy systems, etc)...and who knows? his technique probably would have evolved too (already amazing mind you)...he was a hip cat

  • @glueforall probably but when i wrote that comment i think the intent was to say that its not about the equipment but more about the playing

  • @MemphoSlim more like 99% player! lol

  • cos it's a suhr not a fender

  • with a humbucker

  • MOVE OVER EDDIE!!!

  • his Fusion Demos cd is SO good

the songs are very beautiful and emotional

    and his phrasing is perfect

  • agree with you! the fusion tapes are amazing! each song has a wonderfull melody, and its very relaxing

  • haha yea seriously.

anybody who has taken an interst in Reb's playing will find such a huge jewel coming across the fusion sessions.

That album is a sensitive side of Reb you don't get to see often. It really is amazing.

  • Tapping specialist... Reb is great!!!

  • Soy fan número de Reb, su técnica es impresionante... LONG LIVE ROCK 'N' ROLL...¡¡¡¡¡

  • These videos of him tapping are amazing.

  • love the tone.. kinda 'sticky'..Ü

  • Reb es uno de los mejores Guitarristas del Rock de todos los tiempos. Su técnica de tapping es alucinante y espectacular. Es uno de mis guitarristas favoritos.. Long Live Rock N Roll..¡¡¡¡

  • reb beach is great ...

  • Rebs great, fluid, and has lots of soul LIVE ;)

  • he isnt playing a song or a composition dickhead just showing off

  • can you read asswhipe??? WARMING UP... and you sure know about him, i guess having played on whitesnake, dokken, alice in chains, winger, and have jammed with most of the guitar heros ever makes you a piece of shit... fucking noob...

  • he's just fooling around you retard... you're allowed to do that you know. I would look down on someone if all they can do is cop songs they've memorized.

  • thats what i said retard

  • What a dumbhead LOL He was just soloing around while somebody just recorded it.

  • Comment removed

  • its there tone and it sounds better

  • Must be fun to go to a NAMM show and see (and hear) stuff like this.

  • he has a suhr sig guitar with suhr pups in it put he uses emgs?? whats the deal....

  • He did some cool shit in Winger but improved alot since then judging from the clip. Always thought Dimebag ripped his Winger solos to shreds though expecially since Dime did'nt tap and had an even more fluid and faster feel. But hey Reb rocks none the less!!

  • if you dive into Winger stuff you can tell how good the dude was back in those days (and still is)...a riffing machine...and he's one of the cleanest players you'll ever hear. I've never heard him miss a note and I've watched hundreds of Winger live clips. His old solo back in the day was like this clip...he's so underrated and so good. Winger was unbelievably good and got such a bad rap...never will understand it.

  • I don't see how you could even compare the 2.

  • They both play alot of pentatonics and both play alot of smooth legato runs, How can you not compare? It's not like comparing Yngwie Malmsteen to Eric Clapton here!

  • other than the technical aspect, one plays Hair metal and ballads and one plays extremely heavy metal and doesn't play love songs. Now if when they played the same song or a similar style of music, then you could compare.

  • Well Pantera's first 4 albums were hair metal and even cowboys from hell their fifth had two ballads on it "cemetary gates" and "the sleep". The lead styles are very similar. Riff writing not so much. But all I was referring to was the leads anyway.

  • Usually the people that bash shredders are lazy fucks that don't want to put in the time to get that good, but wish they were that good. I can't play anywhere near like that and probably never will be able to, but I can appreciate his talent and respect it.

  • excellent comment. You hit the nail right on the head.

  • @BigBenIsTheSavior Couldn't have said it any better brother

  • who cares how easy or hard something is, surely its ONLY about what sounds good! Your an idiot.

  • learn proper grammar and spelling before you post dumb things, and yes it does matter how hard something is

  • Okay, I really hope your joking man.. I spelt everything right and who cares man its not like im writing a bloody essay at college. No it doesnt matter how hard something is if it sounds good.. it is good you bloody tit.

  • just because it doesn't matter to you doesn't mean it doesn't for everyone else in the world in fact some people at music universities look for that

  • Yeh yeh, I can play crazy technical shit but I still know that sounding good is more improtant that being technical. I mean guitar is an instrument and the main aim for most people (who sound good) is to create music. Jesus.

  • yeah but you need to have a mix of that because some people (like me) like a good challenge

  • I would be very suprised if the playing in this video wasnt a good challenge for you.

  • no it isbut thats what im saying, its a mix of technicality and good sounding

  • Wow, ur an idiot

  • ur a fucking idiot

  • ugh

youre retarded tapping is a style and its not lame and easy when you do it on all strings finger rotation symmetry it gets alot different especially two finger tapping like building the church solo by steve vai you never diss on a guitarist especially when i can guarantee anyone you cant play that clean or good

    poser

  • Looks a lot different than the old Winger days - great player

  • Now he looks like one of the Allman Brothers

  • people caring= 0 :-)

  • Oh snap.

  • When is the last time any shit talkers made a living playing guitar and touring ????

  • look at those people walking by lol theyre like holly shit lol

  • Hahahaha check out his face at the ending.

  • LOL! That expression on his face said something like "I wasn't even trying on that." or "That wasn't very good." BS! It was awesome!

  • Nice. And thats just a warm up? Haha.

  • Awesome player

  • If i know Reb .........i'm sure there was a can of beer sitting close by.

  • Does anyone know what OD he used that day ?

  • Maxon SD9 - that's what Scott Henderson normally uses and it was Scott's amp + pedal that Reb used. However, Reb was only using it for "boost" for his leads, IIRC.

  • @nenad1974 i teched for him one nite in nashville....had a big pedal board for him to choose from for sound check....he walks away for about 10 mins and comes back with an mxr distortion, just that itty bitty stomp.....lined in and out to 2 matchless amps.....priceless!!! talent makes the sound if ya ask me and i've been doing it 30 years.....it was a WOW factor!

  • was there...

    love it
