what would be easier would be selecting the color with the color selection, invert it, and delete it, for then to select the bottom layer and turn it black/white
an easier way of doing this is to go to colour range, select the colour you want to leave in, change the fuzziness to the amount of colour. Then hit ok, the colour will be selected. Keeping it selecting go to hue+satuation turn down the master satuation ... fini.. just alter the curves to get the colours look good.
