I remember watching this over thirty years ago when I was about ten, it scared the be Jesus out of me . For ages I was too scared to accept a drink off anybody in case it was poison!!!!
I'm glad I never saw this when I was little! I first saw it the other day on little box of horrors-they kept going back to manure death, it was hilarious! The little girl screaming on the other hand is horrible...
we were shown this in full at the time. I lived in a small farming village in Devon. The whole class cried and needed counselling. I still have nightmares!
This was actually shown on ITV one morning during the school holidays...it was more like the early 80s actually, some of the deaths were seared into my consciousness...the little girl screaming is particularly chilling.
I did learn something important from that movie, that if you're a farmer and you have kids constantly tresspass. As long as you can afford a new tractor, the problem will sort itself out.
The little girl, Sharon, screaming at 1:26 is practically NIGHTMARISH! 'Cause she did drink Paraquat: even a few millilitres can dissolve the cells in the lungs and build up mucus, causing you to cough up blood, organ, and basically feel like you are drowning
Well now you gotta look at it from a medical p.o.v. The heavy, metal gate falls on the body of a child. Judging from what we see, the back of his head suffered from blunt force impact. This would cause internal bleeding of the skull. Explains why blood was coming from his ear.
What do you mean, public information film? This is what childhood is like in Britain. It's a small country, we've got to thin the numbers out somehow.
@DigscomicsI have many memories of tooling about the MOD firing range near my town with my friends, by the end of the month there were only three children left in the whole town, but it was worth it. Also the first rifles finally had some moving targets to practice with
We had a similar Public Service film when I was growing up. As I lived in a border town, I have no idea from where it originated, the US or Canada. It told of the dangers of crossing wetlands alone...a man alone on the wetlands was as good as dead from drowning in mud. The trick was to travel in groups or with a long staff. It wasn't the sort of thing a child wanted to know about: the ground giving way at any moment. I wonder if I can find it on youtube.
@ThatsMrMoronToYou What was the title of this film you're talking about? To actually drown in mud would be rare and impossible. Given the density of the type of sediment involved, you'd float in mud. The only way you could drown after being swallowed into a wetland quagmire is if the mud was thick enough to vice grip you, that you couldn't release from it in time for a tide to fill up the pit. I've dived and fooled around in many bogs and swamps, and I'd vote for being with groups (more fun).
@XxMcStudleyxX I wish I knew. I was very young. It wasn't so much a drama like this one, but more of a bland public service, as though it was a most common occurence. Who knows...it could have been sinkholes.
You know I like how the guy driving the tractor Hardly gives a shit after running over the kid. And when the kid just stares at the kid while he drowns. WTF is wrong with this shit?
Was this made by Farmers to keep blonde kids off their Laand? must be a relic of the days when teachers could decide what their class got to see though, because the scariest thing we got was a video of Guy Fawkes being burnt alive, which gave us all unintentional nightmare fuel for years.
We were surrounded by farms and derelict houses and working quarries, and the woods were full of older kids starting fires and looking at rubbish porn, but we never got any warning videos..
i always talked about the day i was made to sit in the school hall and watch this film..i was 7 years old...as i got in to my 30s i wondered if thewhole thing was all just in my imagination didnt know the name of the film...i only remember really wanting to go home and that i felt really bad...i just recently found out the film was called apaches..and just watched this..what a load of shit...kids go to school to learn..not get post traumatic stress disorder...lol

I was so annoyed later in life about the fuss during the 80's about protecting kids from watching Video Nasties, when schools saw nothing wrong showing us terrifying sub-snuff movie shite like this!
I saw this movie too many times as a kid .When they weren't showing it to us in school, they'd also screen it on HTV West on Sunday afternoons after the farming programmes. The stupid thing was there were no farms anywere near us for miles, so we were all made shit-scared for nothing.
I watched this when I was about 8 years old, it gave me nightmares for ages. The teachers showed us it to keep us away from farms because we lived around them in our village.
I'm glad I never saw this when I was a kid. I saw it for the first time on youtube when I was in my 20s and I was still horrified by it. It's the surreal way that no one acknowledges the death besides a brief cleaning out scene. The next day the kids are playing like normal.
how come the full version got taken off? a bit weird that they claimed on the copyright, it's not like they were ever going to make money off it. also, good titles.
In all seriousness, I find these deaths to be tragic in the storyline of the movie. I apologize if I sounded callous. I was just trying to say how these kids should have known better then to do the things that they did in this movie.
About the gate, I assumed after watching the video that the gate must have hit the kid on the head with a fatal blow or something but a broken neck is just as likely.

Natester555 2 years ago
Kim (girl with black sweater) is the one who falls off the tractor and gets crushed.
Tom is the one who drowns in the manure pit.
Sharon is the one who drinks the poison by mistake.
Robert is the one who gets killed by the iron gate.
Daniel is the one who jumps on the tractor and releases the handbrake by mistake.
Altogether there were 6 kids but one survived. And his name is Michael, he's cousins with Daniel.

Geez, how could these kids be so stupid?!
Also, how could a metal bar door tipping over on someone kill them? The human body isn't THAT frail!
Finally, why didn't the last boy just jump off the tractor when it was moving?! Is he brain dead or something?
At the risk of sounding callous which I'm not as I care very much about kids, this is natural selection at its finest in this twisted story plot!
