Reading thro all these comments here bring such a nostalgia its almost making me cry xD I totally can relate. The time I logged on my first char which was a undead warrior, just exploring the world, being total noob. You just don't get that feeling anymore. In fact, no game has ever given me that feeling except for WoW. I do still enjoy it somewhat, but not nearly as much. Sad thing is, no private server can bring back that feeling. It just isn't the same :l
I encourage anyone who's feeling the nostalgia to check out therebirth(dot)net... it's a 1.12 vanilla server that strives to be as close to the original vanilla wow as possible... don't be turned off by the crappiness of most private servers, there are no instant levels, donations, vote rewards, free gear, xp boosts... just pure nostalgia. One of the least buggy private servers you'll find as well, the people running it are amazing. The closest you can get to experiencing what you once loved...
My first char was a dwarf hunter... Just being in such a beautiful world, full of adventure and possibility for the first time was overwhelming... And now it's all lost. Now the game is all about the newest epic/legendary gear and who beats raids the fastest... And the areas that bring such nostalgia now are lost forever.
@TheEternalKeyblade People who say... that when they first started playing wow, it was better because it was just like an adventure. You just wanted to explore... now it's all about gearing, raiding, grinding heroics.
That's not Blizzards fault, they haven't ruined the game. You reached end game content, it's an MMO and that is what end game content is. WoW is still a great game.
Pretty amazing how they utterly ruined the experience WoW used to give players. The new buzz words they throw around are efficiency, balance, and accessibility. Yawn. The developers apparently are under the impression that everyone fell in love with the game because of the raids and gear. Nope. It was exploring, meeting new players, music, sounds, questing, immersion that got players hooked. Instead of building on this, they went with "streamlining" and World of Queuecraft. Big mistake.
Oh my, my VERY first character, a gnome warlock. This sure brings back memories of my friend helping me.. I only reached level 14 and started as undead, but man do I miss Dun Morogh!
As nerdy as it is, it kills me on the inside knowing I'll never be able to sit in my room and wander the world of warcraft as I once did :( Vanilla WoW was some of the best years of my life.
man.... i hate the fact that blizzard literally killed wow with cataclysm and now kung fu panda online. Classic wow, The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King were all great games.
@gamersAproductions The majority of WoW players are terrible, terrible scrubs. Wrath was an expanison that catered to scrubs, so obviously it got a lot of subscribers. Good for Blizzard, bad for the rest of us.
=( Don't worry guys maybe once we die, we will go to winterspring or dun morogh heaven.. or just wander the world as a spirit with the graveyard music untill we find our bodies.. xD
i can totally relate to everyone who wants to do it again. my first character was a dwarf hunter. that feeling of putting in the game for the first time, the dramatic log-in screen and music, then setting foot in the biggest online world imaginable. wandering through the snow in wonder, not knowing what you'll find next. i wouldnt have missed this experience for the world. best years of my life playing this, and sadly only WoW players can relate to me on that. it truly is an experience.
@BadSanta1995 And what's so sad is we're deemed so negatively but society.
We're deemed such for being imaginative, for exploring the unexplored for not being satisfied with the current life we have, i personally call us dreamers, entrepreneurs if you may, people who simply want to live in a life of no borders (:
i may have exaggerated but that's what i feel about it
@BadSanta1995 i remember my first 30 minutes as well, starting as a draenei. the quite mysterious music&atmosphere of azuremyst, the purple night sky, the full moon, the crashed ship and the survivors in a quckly built shelter, and those peaceful moths flying around,it all felt like a trance...still my favorite zone
Ugh playing my hunter getting my snow leopard, dying to random bears that attacked in the middle of fight. Just the snowy region picture with this music swells memories of absolute joy, while still having suspense as if your stranded,In this small niche snow world. Till... IRONFORGE :))
Those notes at 4:12. All of my nostalgia. All of it. They send a chill straight down my spine.
If there's one game I could play for the first time again, it would be this one. There's nothing I'd like more than to live the first year of this game over again.
Wonderful music. Listening to this give me goosebumps, my first character was a dwarf and he's still my main to this day. Never will a game or MMO bring back the amazing feeling I had when I played WoW for the very first time.
Just LISTENING to this song gets me cold. There's some sort of shiver behind these notes that literaly runs up my spine. I get a beautiful image from this music when I close my eyes. Long live vanilla WoW!
sometimes I wish they didn't make it so easy to level, they did make this game easier and easier, and aimed it towards end game content. Now with the dungeon finder and exp through battlegrounds, I can hardly find the time for questing out in old azeroth, even then it isn't the same, it's all deserted....
@futbolaholic3 Making it easier with every patch completely devalued the game for me. I stopped before Cata and will never play WoW again. The magic is gone, the golden days wont come back. But damn were they golden ... On the other hand Im glad that real life has me back. Hindsight Im actually a little embaressed how involved I got with a load of bits and pixels.
Alas, world of warcraft will never be the same. THis music brings back so many good memories... i dont think we'll be remembering wotlk or cata as much as this.
@Posterdude95 Well...Bc was good, but main thing was how to lvl up to 55 so u can get in Outland, ignoring azeroths beautiful landscape, and quest line. Wotlk was a nice idea, but it failed. Some changes from wtolk made wow more easier for newbs and noobs. And fall of LK was a fail too. Cataclysm just finished the collapse of one great saga. After first addon, game became one competitive bullshit, in which players were obsessed in being stronger from each other. Vanilla had a great gameplay....
Nostalgia abroad. My first char was a dwarf hunter. I was havin' some gosh darn fun exploring vanilla WoW. I fought troggs, killed bears, and I remember not knowing how to speak. When I hit level 10, I had to ask my friends how to get a pet using emotes. XD. Good times, good times. Now Cataclysm has come along and Dun Morogh has been changed forever. Got to say that Ive listened to a few cata soundtracks on youtube and there was zero magic in there, they sounded all alike, and all like nothing. Maybe I have to play WoW again to feel it, but I dont think Im going to.
It's a bright and snowy november day in Finland, and I have a day off from school. I'm listening to this track while leisurely drinking my morning coffee and looking out the window at the sun glistening on the snow. Sets the right ambience, I should say!
This may sound like a stretch for something as seemingly mundane as a videogame...but I really think I'd like one of the WoW bgm played at my funeral...they're emotionally moving, serene (or powerful, in some raid/pvp cases) and evoke a sense of journeying into the unknown...Wouldn't that be the things you would look for?
@Nisimako hehe. One of the reasons I picked WoW. Blizz did a fantasic job with the music. I'd been playin runescape for 7 years when I started WoW so switching over was a no-brainer. The music made the adventure seem more real--more personal in a way. For lack of a better word; there's a music in the music. xD
This is my favorite music piece in the game. The first character I ever created was a gnome, and all I remember was how different Dun Morogh was from the other starting areas. The music is so fitting! Each time I hear it, I imagine killing a Trogg, haha. This is truly, in my opinion, the best combination of music and zone in WoW. Nothing beats Dun Morogh as far as a leveling experience goes. Once I leave, it's never the same.
@Chedzofreak Oh man there's a lot to see in Norway especially if you're in to skiing and hiking and that kind of stuff. The whole country is mountains so you'll run into them no matter what and see some really spectacular views of mountains and fjords.
Well it all depends on what you're in to. What are you looking to do in Norway? Personally I only know about hiking and skiing because that's what I've done there. It's EXTREMELY expensive (we're talking like 20 euros for a pizza).
@Chedzofreak It's not :). It's regular size pizza. Norway is just ridiculously expensive, wanted to prepare you for it. Though the "pizza incident" was in Oslo which is even more expensive than the rest of Norway. I swear I almost protested the price, felt like I was being robbed.
@Dorkus89Malorkus I feel u, i´m from sweden and i went once just inside of norway, it was double price for a pizza, and it wasn´t even good,,,,, and it was just inside of norway, prices tend to be cheaper near sweden because of low price competition from the other side of the border. And sweden isn´t even a cheap price country! Ridiculously expensive is the proper label.

This brings back memories of my first gnome warlock, I only played it to lvl 11 for some reason, but still... I had a friend of the maelstrom aswell. Iggy. He's the one who made me play, though he was lvl 60 and I was just a noob. Vanilla wow ftw, ahn'qiraj opening ftw!
when i first started WoW, i tried every race and made dif classes for each one, when i was a gnome rogue this place made my jaws drop, i didnt know if i wanted to be a dwarf or an undead, but in the end i was a troll shaman cus thats the last thing i tried and i was board of switching back and forth
I remember when I first landed in Dun Morogh. I was mesmerized by the graphics, the sound of snow crunching under my feet, the snow drifts...the whole thing.
I felt that if I took a deep breath, I'd take in that cold, brisk air on a sunny winter morning.
@M1dg3tMayh3m You said it freind. Its strange, a games music actually plays with my emotions alittle. This music symbolizes all fo the good times ive had with my dwarf on this game, my one true character. The very character i saw the world of warcraft with. Great, ass, music dude.
@M1dg3tMayh3m Same , when i started my dwarf 5 years ago, it was the best music i have heard for a game. And the other games still need to beat wow music.

@Dorkus89Malorkus so you're telling me that iff i went to teh regular shopping mall, i see ridiculous prizes?
sounds crap to me.....

@Kaarlo If this was my alarm I'd never get up. Hit snooze and pull those that sheet on your ear.
I kinda miss the snow and cold, I was born and raised in Sweden but live in California now.

I remember when I first landed in Dun Morogh. I was mesmerized by the graphics, the sound of snow crunching under my feet, the snow drifts...the whole thing.
I felt that if I took a deep breath, I'd take in that cold, brisk air on a sunny winter morning.
It's amazing the feelings this game can evoke.
