  • the wave was probably one of those things that was even done in early days of Rome, but George was a real character not in a suit, a guy who was not paid to be there, a fan... the game would start and he wouldn't appear until some real shit when down in a game and then you would hear his drum and this rough guy would appear and get everyone going as kids we wondered when he would show. He is OG , or the real deal self made not a idea from a company, god bless Crazy George !

  • look at 1:55 of this video of a Mexican movie that was made in 1975 watch?v=VxaFrWUwHHY&playnext=1&list=PL5119FA69B8FCE21A

  • It started in 1966 at Azteca Stadium where Club America played. Half time entertainment was was a trained eagle released from the centre of the playing field. The eagle circles inside the stadium until it nears the roof line. As the eagle circles to gain altitude it flies over the crowd and cues the Mexican Wave because spectators in the stadium raise their arms to 'whoosh' the bird up as it passes. The earliest video I could find 1975 watch?v=VxaFrWUwHHY&playnext=1&list=PL5119FA69B8FCE21A

  • I've heard that the origin of the wave goes back to Spain in the 1930s...

  • I'm a San Jose local, went to SJSU-George is the best. I remember seeing him at A's games when I was a kid. I think it's pretty obvious that he started it. Why would some random college, on some random game in 1981, think oh, lets do this-because they saw it done somewhere else before. At least that's what I think.

  • george invented it. theres TV coverage of it...

UW, claimed it 2 weeks later, during a non-televised game, in a horseshoe shaped stadium, that cannot possibly formulate a true wave.

Also, George had done similar things during his time at SJSU games in the 1970s, where he'd choreograph the student sections to rising at different times. spartan stadium was just 2 seperate stands at the time, and couldnt handle a real wave.

in 1981, it happened. on tv. the end. Krazy wins.

    UW FAIL.

  • I saw him!!!! :)))

  • George: I do believe you're the real deal. You started the wave, as well as a lot of other things...like Japanese sake.

Anyone who doesn't believe you started this Wave phenomenon way back when should have their head and other parts examined. --Your biggest fan,

    Carol S. (San Diego)
