  • For the beginning I apologize for my english but I just have to write something to this video...

I kind of stumbled over this one and I was completely blown away even though I'm not a big fan of guitar music...this one is just grandiose.

But I also have to say something about what you wrote about Peter Jackson. I think he did not such a bad job with the movies but we also have to think about....

Movies will never be as good as the original books!!!

I hardly realized that by watching 'Inkheart'.

  • the might of Tolkiens words+your music=amazing

  • this is very beautiful, nice job colin :)

  • A real bard indeed!

  • I've never had the pleasure of meeting a bard but I would imagine I am now in the presence of one! Carry on good sir!

  • I stumbled upon this today by mere chance. I'm so glad I did, this is beautiful. I remember crying when I read the book and Gandalf fell into darkness with the Balrog.

  • Anyone invented a time machine yet? Tolkien totally needs to watch him play and sing

  • Since I started to play the guitar, everytime I read Tolkien I think "aw, there are so much beautiful poems, why don't try to write some music for 'em? It should be stuff for a bard!" Then I discovered your channel. And I understood that the bards live on.

  • Could you make tabs for this? Or sheet music perhaps...

  • 6 people dont appreciate your talent and the beauty of this piece....6 people are living miserable lives

  • you are a half barddddddddd and i know it

  • You put so much emotion into the song it feels that much more real and sorrowful. Excellent work

  • Amazing interpretation of Sam's poem.

  • Loving it

  • your songs are breathtaking. i dreamt myself in a hobbit tavern, listening to a bard singing with your magical voice.

    many greetings from germany!

  • you sir are now my idol i shall download you upon my ye ol mp3 and play you for me and my freinds and show my teachers and other adventurures abroad thank you for creating a masterpeice of greatness like this

  • ah this song brings me back to when i first read The Fellowship of the ring when i was in the 6th grade, I cried when Gandalf fell. good job Mr. Rudd

  • Mr. Rudd I know that you do this for it's own sake. However, It would be awesome if you made mp3's of your tributes to Tolkiens poems, or if you made a CD. I greatly admire your talent in either case.

  • Honestly, I'm all for free expression of opinion, but what could possibly posses five people to downrate this video? It seems to me that the only possible motivate would be self hatred; you hate the world (your own existence) so much that you would brand you detestment of life's journey on a pretty song.

    I'm probably wrong...

  • amazing...

  • Great song. And good job with it.

  • well done!

  • Awesome!!!

  • Brilliantly done, man. Brilliantly done. I assumed that, like most other vids out there, this was going to be crap. But I see now that I was greatly mistaken! ^^

  • Beautiful!

  • What is the tablature for this, and also the fingering pattern

  • Excellent stuff!

  • This is very beautiful!!

  • Simply amazing. That's the spirit of Tolkien's books.

  • So beautiful...

  • is there guitar tableture for this anywhere?

  • Beautifully Done!

  • Awesome!

    Thx!

  • where do i find the original ???

  • The original lyrics? In tolkien's lord of the rings novels. The original music? This is the original, so far as I know.

  • wow! thats owesome! :'(

  • u are awesome

  • Mithrandir

  • You amaze me.

    ( : I really love this song.

    Thank you for uploading.

  • The fact that Frodo thought Gandalf was dead was part of his motivation to go on, though...

  • In a way, in a way. He would have gone on anyway, though. The thought of Gandalf's death, combined with the betrayal of Boromir was what led him to go on alone, however.

  • wow !!! this is really one of your best songs, Mister Rudd. I can`t stop listen to it. 5 stars for you!

Exspecially the end when you wait and then:" In Khâzad Dum his wisdom died."

  • annimfin, You can always use a Audio splitter to take the music from youtube or anykind of audio to use where ever you want, and then download it from your computer to your Ipod, If you want to know how to get it/use it youtube (audio splitter Youtube) ;) enjoy! and nice songs i enjoy them!

  • Oh so sweet! Do you share this sumwhere? I'd like to load it to my ipod. :P

  • U got voice like a boy :O

Very very nice ! Take care ...

  • Awesome work

As much as movies are a mess there is a lot good about them. They introduced a ton of people to the books and some scenes are really well done. Rohirrim charge made me weep, some characters are also well done

  • Very good! You sound sort of like Geddy Lee.

  • This song kinda reminds me of those long winter nights sitting by the fireplace, with the firelight scampering across the room while we were told stories.

  • If Blind Guardian Covered this song they would tear it up!! It very much sounds like it should have been on 'Some where beyond'.

  • hi colin i remember when you uesed to sing this song to me i hope your well i hope to see you

  • I know you dislike Peter for making this film, but there is something positive about the movie. When watched it for the first time, i didnt knew the books. But because of the film I have now read all of Tolkiens books a couple of times. And now I love Middle Earth.

But beside that, this is a great sung. Nicely done. I listen it evryday. 5stars!

  • long live the internet for ease of communication eh!....sorry draconicon2....guess I'm becoming paranoid!

  • Tis alright, Colin. I am more or less used to the paranoia that some people have, and I can't say that you are all that wrong with being paranoid sometimes. People are quite eager to criticize for little or no reason.

  • Well draconicon2, if you'd had some of the comments I'd had about the Tolkien stuff then you'd know why I reacted. However, I take your point and apologise if rudeness seemed to be displayed, I would be more concerned if I was as rude and ignorant as Peter Jackson and trampled over the great professor's work for monetary gain!...and to answer your other point, no!...I'm not envious of Tolkien....I'm just glad that he lived and gave me so much joy.

  • Um, I was responding to the comment from TheSisco44, actually, Colin. I was commenting on how he/she was acting, not you.

  • @colinjohnrudd Respect

  • The words are Tolkien...the music is mine....what's the big deal about this, music and words are for us all!!

  • I agree. However I disagree with your opinion of the movies. Not ripping you apart, very much like the music. But Tolkien himself had said that he wanted to create a mythology that others could later expand and add to. I think in Peter Jackson's movies, the stories are being retold. Not all the details are there and some of the time line is messed up, but still, it is a continuation of mythology in the way mythology continues. It's a shame no one adds to it though.

  • Colin rudd is awsome but colin rudd is not the bard who wrote this music. the songs are in the book, and his interpretations of the songs are actually VERY unique.

  • You know what, we all rather realize that, so why are you pointing it out? Envy for not doing it yourself? If this seems rude, I apologize, but so was your comment.

  • Frodo didn't know Gandalf survived untill a REALLY long distance into the story. :(

  • Gandalf would love this.

  • i bow before u master colin john for ur skills r unique

  • MUIto legal!!!parabens!!uhhul!

  • Sweet and touching singing and guitar playing!!

  • Yet again Briliant!!! what kind of guitar do you use??? i agree with draconicon2... you truly are a master at his craft.. aye... i tip my as well... cheers

  • You seem to have become a modern day bard, or at the very least, a rhyming storyteller. I tip my hat to a true master of his craft.

  • he stood upon the bridge alone

and fire and shadow both defied

    gotta love this

  • That last line just rings in your ears. In Khazad-Dum, his wisdom died.

  • You are a true bard!

  • Oh wow *-*

I would do everything to play the guitar as beautifully as you do.. (I know my english is very bad xD)

This song is .. wah. great :) I'm a huge lotr fan, so I like the song even more x)
