This is true, but if an ant wanted to, it could leave and no one would ever notice it was gone, due to the vast numbers of its brethren (or rather sistren, since most ants are female). The character envies ants because he perceives them to enjoy their society although they can escape, while he cannot escape although he dislikes his society.

Ok, I admit that in a meticulas way, this could be a chase scene, But alot of people do not have a clue what is going on. I mean yeah we get its serious but still. I mean you have had a serious story for over a year now with solitary I was also wondering if you can do some other things besides serious? Yes, exactly. He's in the woods trying to get away from it all, but he finds a piece of garbage someone has carelessly left on the ground, and he must weep. He envies the ant because ants are part of a horde and one won't be missed, but because of human society's ostensible focus on individuality paired with its ubiquitousness, he can never truly escape.
