The baby is so cute. Congrats! i am pretty sure he will be performing with Conjunto Hueyapan very soon! I was one of Prof. Xocoyotzin's students a few semesters ago. Thanks for the videos. Hope u can upload more!
Morning xicana. Thank you so much for your kind information. Viva Vera Cruz. Viva Jarocha. Yes I saw the conjunto Hueyapan and read about them on internet. What I forgot all the time..what a merry and nice little baby we see there and already full of music. But that,s no wonder with such a family. Albert.
I see now that the baby Xocoyotzin is not the one I thought he was, but there was some realation when you compare faces. Some time ago I asked Xocoyotzin, what does his name mean, is it a Astecs name ? May be you will be able to aswer me on this. By the way, do you play yourself in Conjunto Hueyapan ?
Yes, the name is Aztec(Nahuatl). It means the younger, the junior. My son and husband are both named after my father-in-law, Fermin. They are both Fermin Xocoyotzin Herrera. I don't play with Conjunto Hueyapan. This group is made up of my husband, his brother, uncles and dad. They have 2 harps, requinto and jaranas. Do you know them?
Hi xicana. Thank you for your comment on this. Let me say this I like them all in the way they play and bring jarocho-music to a lot of people. My love of this music started some 50 years ago with Lino Chavez ,Mario Barradas, Raul Rosas and Andres Huesca. I Like it so much that I can see right now,how there followers play this kind of music. Good luck to all of you....Albert.
My husband's family is truly jarocho at heart. The whole family plays. His dad studied harp with Mario Barradas. Tomas studied requinto with Lino Chavez. In fact, Lino Chavez was my husband's padrino (godfather). My husband sings and improvises verses in a style similar to Raul and Rafael(Fallo) Rosas. Both my husband and father-in-law play harp in the Huesca/Barradas style especially in their bass playing.
Good Morning xicana100. No I am a jarocho-lover from Holland and had contact with xocoyotzin an John Robles. I liked both baby-foto,s on You Tube and am proud to see, also on You Tube what became of him. I liked the way he plays the Arpa and Requinto. I am also an admirer of the requintero Thomas Herrera. Greetings from Albert.
I think there may be some confusion. You probably have contact with Xocoyotzin Moraza, who has several videos on you tube. My husband is Xocoyotzin Herrera, the harpist on the videos who is playing to our baby, his junior. My husband is related to Tomas Herrera(his uncle) and they play in the same jarocho group, Conjunto Hueyapan. Tomas taught Xocoyotzin Moraza requinto and my husband's dad(Fermin Herrera) taught his father how to play harp as well among countless others.
