I thought Dark Omen was a breeze compared to Shadow of The Horned Rat - never got all that far in SoTHR, because troops were so damned expensive to keep on board that I tended to run out of funds.
Dark Omen had simpler, more intuitive controls and the economy was easier to deal with. Still a challenging game though - spent an entire day on just the final misson, but it felt great to beat it in the end.
@Typanoid You also START with ranged units, allowing you to murder the enemy before they get anywhere near you, and I believe you get the bright wizard on the 3rd level or so breaking the game forever.
Completely brilliant, totally agree with the comments about the good days, when the PS1 got pc games as well because gamers weren't all Xbox 360 retards!
I loved this game.
Then Dark Omen came out.
GOD DAMN THAT GAME WAS HARD

@Chronische
Yeah, the Bright Wizard is pretty damned powerful and is easier to use than in the first game.

@Typanoid He can solo the game, honestly. As long as you are careful (and have screaming skull) nothing can stand against you.

@Chronische
Absolutely, now that you mention it, I recall having won several of the mission pretty much due to using the Bright Wizard.
It's just so many years since I played that game.

I probably enjoyed the music and the fonts that were on the PC disc more than the game itself.
